Determined to give her patients the best treatment possible, she continued her studies, finishing a three years course in Craniomandibular Orthodontics and Occlusion Medicine under the guidance of professor Sadao Sato and Dr Heike Kramer at the Interdisciplinary Dental Education Academy in San Francisco where she is currently a member of the study club. With this approach, many otherwise surgical cases such as open bite, mandibular deviation can be treated successfully.
Always passionate about the artistic side of dentistry, she completed her training about biomimetic and esthetic dentistry with the masters in the field, Dr. Pascal Magne and Dr. Didier Deitschi. Biomimetic concept in dentistry is a minimum invasive technique where thinly bonded restorations not only mimic the natural beauty of the tooth butalso preserves the tooth structure and improve the longevity of the restoration.
A Maryland local for well over two decades, Dr. Nguyen has been practicing dentistry in Maryland since 1990. Growing up in a large family, the fourth of seven children, caring for others, and being family-focused has always come naturally in her approach to dentistry.
Dr. Nguyen graduated from Indiana University in 1984 with a BS degree in Biology. She then went on to complete her Doctorate in Dental Surgery in 1988. Her love of learning continues in her dedication to the newest advancements in dentistry, always utilizing the most-up-to-date knowledge, techniques and technologies to keep her practice on the leading edge within the field.
Beyond her technical expertise and detail-oriented approach, Dr. Nguyen prides herself in creating an environment and experience for her patients that is both calming and friendly. For her, understanding her patients needs and concerns is vital for delivering the best results. Always approachable and professional, Dr. Kim is usually found, besides working on a dental treatment, with her patients either explaining a treatment protocol, teaching them breathing techniques for relaxation, or giving dental health advises.
Dr Kim Nguyen has been actively involved in her communities by volunteering in dental missions in areas of Virginia, Maryland every year. She also does international volunteer programs, especially in Vietnam, helping the underserved populations.

I have had such a good experience with them over the last 2 years, and I believe I speak for both myself and my wife with everything I say here. For almost all of our visits, we were attended by Dr. Kim, and I can't toot her horn loud enough, she is so great. I arrived with some gum issues and I think some cavities, and Dr. Kim not only cleaned my teeth and gums well, but she also sat down with me and took the time to explain why periodontal health is so important, and how to take really good care of my gums. Everything she did kind of revolved around her really caring about my oral health, to the point that I once had the impression that the way she was admonishing me to take better care of my mouth, she reminded me distinctly of my grandmother telling me I should eat less junk food when I was a kid. So I've always kind of felt like she really cared about my health as much as my grandmother did. She also had some great visuals and made some references to research, which I appreciated. Fast forward two years, my gums and teeth are much healthier than they were before, and I owe that to Dr. Kim more than anyone else. We moved out of state recently, and not being able to go to this clinic anymore was one of the big downsides to moving away, since we had found this great dentist in Wheaton, and now we had to look for a new dentist near our next home, and hope they'd be at least almost as good. Also, the hygienists, I'm afraid I never learned their names, are great too. The lady who works at the front desk, I think her name is Charity (I really hope I didn't get that wrong), is so nice, too. Just for example, I appreciated that she even made a point to ask about my wife and baby a few weeks after my wife had come in almost 9 months pregnant. I met Dr. Ahn once for an hour to float the possibility of doing some orthodontic work, and she seemed really knowledgeable. She showed me a presentation that she prepared for a conference or something, demonstrating techniques that she uses to go about using braces to fix people's teeth. Apparently there's some variation between orthodontists about how to deal with different problems, like apparently some orthodontists have people's back teeth pulled to open up space, and Dr. Ahn claimed that there are generally much better ways to fix someone's mouth without pulling teeth, which can apparently have negative effects throughout the person's life. Anyway, I came away willing to trust her 100% if I or someone in my family needed braces or something like that. Although I think it's more expensive to go to her than some other places? I don't know much on that subject. I also met Dr. Win (I think that's his name?) for one cleaning, and he seemed very good too.

Highly recommend Dr. Kim Nguyen! I'm terrified of going to Dentists, but Dr Kim Nguyen is the exception! Went to Dr Kim Nguyen for check-up and overdue cleaning before starting a (non-dental related) new med. She was knowledgeable about the med, very thorough and conscientious! She even called me after I had left the office to tell me that she had given my condition further thought, and suggested one more test for reassurance! She was very gentle, and spoke in a very soothing, reassuring tone during the cleaning. Thanks to Dr. Kim Nguyen I've got a brighter smile Crisa and Charity were very attentive and caring! The office is very clean with Covid-19 precautions enforced.

I was a client for over a decade. A decade! Always had good experiences with the doctors and overlooked the fact the receptionist was brusque at best, rude at worst. I made an appointment for July six months in advance. I heard nothing from them throughout the pandemic, so I assumed, of course, everything was on track. I arrived at 7:25 am for a 7:30 appt, and the assistant was unlocking the door and looked at me strangely...like I shouldn't be there. Uh-oh. She let me in and told me my appointment had been canceled, and they had tried to reach out to me yesterday. Number one, no message, no email, no text from them (yet they send me tons of all of those when they want to advertise something or confirm my appointment for the 80th time). Number two, you don't notify someone about a canceled appointment with fewer than 24 hours notice. I own a company. I charge for that nonsense. It's rude, unprofessional, and totally unnecessary. I was then told "the receptionist couldn't leave a message on my phone." Really, now? Evvvvveryone else on the planet can leave a voicemail but you? Uh-huh. Even if that were true, you could have texted me or emailed me for such an important thing. But of course, it gets worse, because why waste 15 minutes of my time when you can waste over an hour? I was not happy, though calm, and the assistant said they would try to "fit me in." (Uh, considering I was the first person there with an appointment I made six months ago, I should have been prioritized.) I said fine...but that I HAD to be out no later than 8:45 am to go to work. You know, that thing that allows me to pay you all. I wait another half hour in the waiting room. It's now 8:05 am. I get brought back to a chair. Ok, there' s hope, I think. Tick, tick, tick. At 8:35 freaking am, the doctor finally comes in. I say, "Can you clean my teeth in ten minutes? Because I was very clear that I needed to be out of here at 8:45 am." Of course I was told that was not possible. So....instead of wasting 30 minutes of my time, which would have not made me happy but I could have been rescheduled at a premium time and offered a discount (because that's what good businesses do when they muck up), you made me sit for an hour and ten minutes of wasted time and leave without a teeth cleaning? They expected me to sit and wait for the rude receptionist to get off the phone to reschedule me. HAH. I walked out. No yelling. No scene. No flipout. I walked out because I'd had enough. Was there a follow up? An apology? An offer to reschedule or give a discount or attempt to keep a good client who has always paid bills on time and even bought their practice's insurance on any of the modes of communication they had for me? Nope. I called a new dentist four days later and asked to have my records transferred there. Wheaton Dental Partners sent me a simple email: Your records have been transferred. Wow. No attempt to apologize or keep me at all. So absolutely disappointed and disgusted with the service. I guess because I have good teeth and only get cleanings and the occasional cavity filled once every few years, I wasn't worth keeping. Plenty of other dentists in the area who will treat your valuable time with respect.

I've been with Dr Ahn for the last twelve years. She is always excellent. She explains what she would like to do for you and does it with care and professional skill. Of course, Charity is always there to welcome you with a bright smile and make you feel like all will be well!

Received exceptional care during a recent July 2020 appointment. Their new safety procedures during Covid times made me feel very safe and stress free. Charity at the front desk was very kind and helpful. The dental assistant, Terrell, was very caring. And Dr. Kim Thanh Nguyen was extremely meticulous, skilled, and thorough. Before coming into this practice, I was told by another dental office that I would lose a certain tooth, but Dr. Kim went above and beyond to save my tooth! Thank you, Dr. Kim for your genuine care in my oral health, my well-being, and treating me like family!
