Dr. Richard (Whip) Wetherill, III is a native of Wilmington, North Carolina, and resides here with his wife, Susan, and their three children. After graduating from N.C. State University with dual degrees in Economics and Business Management, Dr. Wetherill continued his studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hills School of Dentistry, where he received his degree in 1998. After obtaining his DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery) degree, Dr. Wetherill and his family returned to Wilmington to set up his dental practice here.
When Dr. Wetherill is not busy helping people with their smiles, you can usually find him at one of his childrens sporting events or other activities. In his free time, he is apt to be on the golf course, deep in the woods hunting, or simply in his yard trying to fight the weeds! Dr. Wetherill also enjoys playing coed soccer, serving on the parking and host team at his local church, serving Meals on Wheels once a month, and even helping BSA Troop 13 as a member of the Scout Committee.
The office of Wetherill Family Dentistry is designed to offer our patients an intimate atmosphere, conducive to the personalized care and attention that we give to all our patients. We have intentionally kept a smaller office feel so as to provide a warm and relaxing environment for all our dental families.

These guys are the best. I have 32 teeth and thanks to having this dentist I get to keep all 32 teeth. I have very few cavities, but if I have a tooth pain I know where I can go and get the x-rays done properly proficiently and at a reasonable price. Also my other half ended up with a root canal and they sent him to someone who did a stellar job of fixing that. Such great people such great quality service and such a clean establishment. I recommend this dentist all the time so they might be booked up, so get your dental appointment ahead of time and be glad you did. If you want to smile with all your teeth you'll go to this dentist

He is conservative in his dental treatment and by that I mean he isn't trying to sell you every new dental fad and treatment you don't need. His staff is always pleasant and professional and they stay with him for years and years, which says a lot about his character. His office is spotless clean and well appointed. We have never had a reason to be anything but happy with the care we have received. I recommend him all the time.

I have been going to Dr. Wetherill for years. Everyone in his office has been very friendly and professionally. For many years, Myself and Dr. Wetherill always have a good conversation about work, flying, family and now retirement. This is all done while he's checking out my teeth. I like going because he is one of the outstanding family Dentist in the Wilmington NC and surrounding area.
