Dr. Scott Johnson is a 1996 graduate of the University of Detroit-Mercy School of Dentistry. He attended Monroe County Community College for his undergraduate degree. Dr. Johnson is proud to be considered at the top of his profession and has actively attended numerous continuing education courses to stay up to date with the changing trends in dentistry. Dr. Johnson began his dental career at the Monroe County Health Department before joining his uncle, Dr. Darryl Eighmey, at Westwood Dental. He was first an associate, became a partner, and purchased the practice in 2008. Dr. J makes it one of his primary goals to see everyone as a person and not just a patient, while also providing the very best care, based on each individual. With over 20 years experience treating patients with a wide variety of dental concerns, Dr. Js special interests include cosmetic dentistry and working with children. He is known as a caring, gentle dentist who truly gets to know each patient. Dr. J resides in Monroe with his wife, Linda, and has three amazing children; Alex, Hannah, and Abbey. He has been a resident of Monroe County most of his childhood and all of his adult life. In his spare time he enjoys being outside and staying active.
Dr. Jordyn Johnson joined Westwood Dental in 2018 as an associate when Dr. Eighmey retired. She received her Bachelors degree in Human Biology from Michigan State University in 2013 Go Green! She then went on to receive her Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Detroit Mercy where she graduated top of her class. Dr. Jordyn aims to treat all of her patients with the same compassion she would show her own family. She is an active member of the Michigan Dental Association as well as the American Dental Association. In her free time Jordyn enjoys MSU sports and spending quality time with friends and family!
Dr. Alex Johnson joined Westwood Dental in 2018. Dr. Alex graduated from Western Michigan University in 2013 with a Bachelors degree in Biochemistry. He furthered his education at the University of Detroit Mercy where he earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 2018. Dr. Alex chose to pursue a career in Dentistry not only to follow in his fathers footsteps, but because he enjoys meeting new people and facing different challenges every day. He is an active member of the Michigan Dental Association as well as the American Dental Association. Outside of work, Alex enjoys his position as the Head Coach of the Monroe Freshman Basketball team.
Dental Assistant Ronda joined our Westwood team in 1997 and has been assisting Dr. Scott Johnson since. Her favorite part of her career is helping people feel more confident in their smiles. Ronda is married with three wonderful children and a cat named Kenny.
Dental Assistant Michelle has been a CDA since 2013 and joined our team November 2019. What she loves most about her role is helping patients feel comfortable and at ease in this family oriented office. Michelle is from Dundee and spends her free time with her 3 kids, friends and family.
Dental Assistant Lauren joined Westwood Dental in 2020. She has been assisting for 11 years and is a graduate of Washtenaw Community College where she received her License for a Registered Dental Assistant in 2012. She has worked in Monroe for 8 years and has lots of experience. Lauren is passionate about her patients and her work family. She grew up and was raised in the Ida area, Graduated from Ida in 2005. Now, she resides in Temperance with my two children, ages 3 and 11, with our malamute pup, Bailey.
Dental Hygienist Jacki has been a hygienist since 1990 and has been with Westwood Dental since 1992. She grew up in Dundee but now lives in Monroe with her husband Michael and her Children, Mitchell and Maya. Jacki graduated with honors from Owens Community College where she received her Associate Degree in Applied Science. She enjoys SMCC football, Jefferson competitive cheer, and UofM football. Go Blue!
Dental Hygienist Laurie is a 1991 graduate from Wayne County Community College. She has been with Westwood Dental since 1999. Laurie is married with four children and likes to spend time cheering on her kids at their sporting events.
Dental Hygienist Linda graduated from Owens Community College and has worked at Westwood Dental since 1999. She is known as the floss boss! Linda lives in Ida with her husband, daughter, and twin sons. She enjoys gardening, kayaking, reading, and researching her family history.
Dental Hygienist Sydney is a 2016 graduate from Wayne County Community College and has been with Westwood Dental since 2009. She currently attends Sienna Heights University where she is completing her Bachelors Degree. In Sydneys free time, she enjoys hanging out with family and friends especially her rescue dog Luna!
Office Manager Ashley joined Westwood Dental after working for 7 years in retail management. She likes that she has been able to maintain the personal interactions, team building skills, and camaraderie she enjoyed while working in retail meanwhile gaining the excitement that comes with learning a new industry. Whether at work or at home, Ashley enjoys staying busy. When not hanging out with our awesome patients, she enjoys being bossed around by her sassy, funny, beautiful daughter Amelia. The perfect day for Ashley would include lounging in the sun, golfing with her husband and daughter, and finishing up with a cookout with the family.
Insurance Coordinator Amy has been with Westwood Dental since 1998. She started working with the front office staff and now spends her time as the hygiene coordinator where she earned the nickname of Princess. Amy brings a lot of fun to the job with her outgoing personality. She has been happily married since 1994 and has two awesome children!
Coordinator Karen has been a part of the Westwood Dental Team since 1999 and thinks, It is such a great family practice to be a part of. She loves her job because she gets to help others feel more comfortable with their dental experience. Karen has a daughter, Ashley, and an amazing granddaughter, Amelia.
Coordinator Erin joined Westwood Dental in March of 2019. Her favorite part of working at the office is the patients, her coworkers, and the all around family feel of the office. Erin lives in Dundee with her new hubby. She enjoys golfing, sporting events (GO BLUE!) and spending time with family and friends.
Jacque is a part of our fabulous front office staff. She has been with Westwood Dental since 2013. Jacque enjoys talking with our patients and helping answer any questions they may have. Outside of the office Jacque enjoys spending time with her husband, three children, and her grand-dog named Archie.
Front Desk Terri has been working at Westwood Dental since June 2016 and was in an office setting for many years prior to that. Terri has been married for 25 years. She has two sons and a dog named Uno!
Sydney is an Ida native and graduate from Monroe County Community College. Joining our team in 2020, Sydney has always loved going to the dentist. She likes working in dentistry because she wants to ensure our patients have a great experience so they can love it too! In her free time, Sydney enjoys playing and watching sports and spending time with family & friends. Recently, her and her hubby expanded their family and welcomed Hank and Leo (fur babies).

Our family loves Westwood Dental. The entire staff is so wonderful. We especially love Dr. Jordyn. She is so patient and does an excellent job with my young kids. Highly recommend!

Just left our appointment with Dr. Alex Johnson and had a great experience. My son was getting his tooth extracted, Dr. Alex took his time and explain everything to us. The staff was amazing. Overall an excellent experience!

I have been a patient since the early 80s and I had a bill of 68.70 that went to collections and now they refuse to treat me or my children, whom have been patients all they're lives, ever again. They obviously care more about their money than their patients!!! What a shameful way to treat your community and those who have supported you and your business their whole lives! If I would have known I would have paid it.

Great dental office! Dr. Johnson is very easy to talk to, professional, friendly and explains things before he begins. My kids love this office too. Staff is very friendly, efficient, and office is very clean. We have been going here several years and I have zero complaints.

Update from 11.19.20 Excellent Dentist office ever! The whole Shahelin family transferred to this place. The office staff are also great to deal with. They have some good sized rooms for Dental work. Dr Alex was very knowledgeable and awesome in explaining everything. He also pronounces "Shahelin" sooo correctly, loved it!! As somebody who is not a fan of even the slightest pain also, I have to say Sydney was great to take care of me. Additional point to note - The way Sydney washes her hands are like how Heart Surgeons do it in OTs. Highly professional!! Good job Sydney. Sydney - if you are reading this, you were phenomenal. Thanks alot!! Keep it up. 04.02.21 - I had an important meeting at my Company that I couldn't miss on this day which I only came to know about on that day. One phone call to this place and the lady at the reception gave an option to come a little later without any reschedule fees or anything, I am even thinking they dont charge to cancel. More reasons to say Westwood Dental is awesome. Linda is sooo good with kids, she just keeps the kid so busy with every visit and not even make her understand that its a dentist appointment. My kid literally tells me she needs to go back to the Dentist. I wished I had a Dental office like this growing up. This was never fun for me ever. Excellent job Dr. Jordyn, you were also great. This is the best family business I have seen. Wishing Dr. Alex and Dr. Jordyn all the best!!! 05.20.21 Another wonderful visit. Their appt system is superb, I arrived at exact time of appt and I was not made to wait a second. Wonderful management there. I cant ask for anything more when it comes to scheduling appts here. Sydney is the best employee here and takes care of you well. She is a big asset to this firm. Her interpersonal skills are top notch and she keeps you informed of what she is doing which is nice. I have started liking Dentist appts, all credit goes to Sydney!! Thanks again.

This office staff extremely nice friendly is very helpful I am very concerned about your health I had a situation with With another dental office that messed up my teeth however they came in gave me a recommendation and fix the problem with that no questions I would recommend them to anyone in the state of Michigan I made a long drive doing the epidemic From my home state to just come see them and it was worth the drive They have fix every problem that I have and I will continue using that Dr. Jordyn she is the best dental Dr. I ever been with

DO NOT GO TO WESTWOOD DENTAL ... I contacted these folks a month before mine and my wife's appointment. Today, we were supposed to have our very first appointment starting at 11am. When we arrived we were told that there was no appointment in the computer for us. When I originally called, I gave them ALL of our information, insurance information and set the appointment at that time. I put the appointment on my calendar on my phone and today we went for that appointment. After being told we have no appointment, we were also told that we would have to reschedule for another time and date. I asked to speak with the office manager who I explained how my entire conversation a month earlier went and how I was being told that we were not going to be seen today. She apologized and confirmed that we would not be seen today. While this was all going on, an office worker named Mary, was shaking her head and making comments about me and how I wasn't getting in today under her breath. When I confronted her about her comments, she claimed to be talking about something else (out loud) and shaking her head at comments that I was making about my experience and this not being a good first office visit experience. I asked several times to speak with the owner / dentist and was refused several times. It wasn't until I demanded to speak with them that I was given the opportunity to speak with the dentist and his wife. I spoke with his wife who apologized and listened to my issue, then I went in to speak with the dentist who also half-heartedly apologized and heard my complaint. Amazingly there WAS a block of time open for them to take my wife and me and we were offered that block, but after speaking with the dentist and him asking me about if I was going to continue to hold a grudge into the future, I decided that this was not the place for my family and me. The dentist went on to tell me that he has many people who hold grudges against the office staff and he didn't want that. I asked him to think about what he was saying and that if he has many issues with his office staff then why not address that issue and stop blaming the patients who come to him for treatment. This place obviously has staffing / attitude issues and they do not care or adjust if they make scheduling errors. The dentist obviously has no issue with the staff disrespecting his clients and backs them simply because they have longevity and have worked for his father's practice for some time. They will hold their ground and blame YOU as the patient. I was accused of not having gotten a text, which I did, from them about my appointment to asking me if my wife or I cancelled the appointment that they didn't even see in their system in the first place. DO NOT GO HERE and if you do go here, I would think about going elsewhere. We went to Yentz Dental in Monroe and they took my wife and me in with open arms, were pleasant, kind and accommodating, getting me in for Xrays and exam when I walked in and scheduling my cleaning in the next few weeks. I went to Westwood as a new client and left having been disrespected and mocked. The ultimate reason for my review isn't because of a mistake, it is because of disrespect, mocking and an unwillingness to fix the error that they made or allow me to speak with the boss / dentist / owner.
