Following her father, who was a military doctor, Dr. Royal traveled all around the world, learned different cultures and languages, got her dental education in Europe (Ukrainian Dental Academy, 2006) and in the United States (UIC College of Dentistry at Chicago, 2017). Now settled here, Dr. Royal is proud to call Texas her home and is very excited to serve the diverse population of San Antonio.
Several years of clinical experience from both countries and she obtained a Master Degree in Dentistry and solidified certainty that dentistry is where she belongs. What makes Dr. Royal especially happy is a realization that her passion for dentistry collides with calling to love and serve people all walks of life.
We are happy to introduce the newest member of our team, Dr. Vickie Saldana Martinez! She is a native of San Antonio and understands the dental needs of Texans. She puts high priority on dental education and disease prevention while providing a compassionate approach to relieve patients dental fear and anxiety.
Dr. Saldana Martinez obtained her Bachelors degree from UTSA with a minor in Spanish. She received her doctorate from the University of Texas Dental Branch in Houston. She has served the San Antonio and South Texas community as a dentist for the last 11 years and is highly qualified to meet the dental needs of you and your family.
Dr. Saldana Martinez and her husband have been married for 18 years and have four children. In her free time, she likes to spend time with her family playing sports and spending time outdoors with her dog Rascal. She also enjoys baking and cooking.
We would like to welcome to the Westlakes Dental Family Dr. Michelle Mach! Dr Mach and Dr. Nelson met many years while serving together in border missions across the Rio Grande. Dr. Mach comes to us with 14 years experience with advanced training post graduation in 2007. She attended UTSA and obtain a bachelors degree in Biology. Following college she received a doctorate degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio.
She loves being able to help and serve others and has a heart for personal connections with patients. She has 4 wonderful children and enjoys spending time with family and friends, cooking, being active and travel.

Office staff very courteous and helpful, appointment was for my husband and he was very appreciative of the Dr. And his assistant. They were very communicative and explained all procedures very throughly. Would highly recommend this dental clinic

Dr. Nelson has superb bedside manner, explains issues succinctly, and resolves them expeditiously. Unfortunately, the billing is completely opposite. They kept $300 they were supposed to have paid me for over 18 months. The 2nd time I requested the refund, and insisted, she attempt to further delay reimbursement until insurance cut them a check for the current appointment. Miraculously, she was able to do some digging and suddenly discovered charges from the previous year that she claime I was never billed for. Later, while disputing/requesting an invoice for a $35 unexplained charge, they sneakily added that amount at the front counter to a copay I was making without telling me. I requested invoices for the past two years in writing, and I never received them.

Don't recommend!!! The white female dentist is super rude and has no bedside manners. Based on her alone I don't recommend. For a cleaning sure if you get a good person.

Westlakes Family Dental is WONDERFUL! The staff members are very kind, caring, and professional. Their prices are definitely reasonable and the property is well maintained and comfortable. I was a bit anxious but the assistant taking care of me kept me calm. The dentist made certain that I understood what was needed to be done, how it would be done and that I felt no pain during my procedure. I highly recommend them to anyone in need of a dentist!
