Western Dental & Orthodontics - General dentist in San Jose, CA

Weve been making quality care more affordable since our founder, Dr. Curtis Beauchamp, opened his first office in 1903. Like a lot of visionaries back then in Los Angeles, he did a lot more than start a practice. He opened up dentistry to the people and championed the idea that everyone should have good oral health.

He did it by delivering excellent care at affordable prices and letting his patients pay over time. Back then, they called it 'Credit Dentistry.' These days, it 's how almost all of us afford the braces, root canals and implants we need.

By the 1930s Dr. Beauchamp and his son, Dr. Robert F. Beauchamp were treating thousands of patients at multiple locations. Fast forward to today, and we serve over 1 Million people a year in four states.

Waiting time is wayyyyyy too long every time! They should inform people how long they need to wait ahead. I waited like one hour when my appointment is actually 10:30am and when I asked the front desk person, she said 1 hour is normal in this office, and I need to wait another 15 to 30 mins, and if I don't want to wait I can just leave..... Try to avoids this place while you have other choice.

Today was my 3rd visit. The first 2 visits I wasn't thrilled with my wait time as I was booked first thing, but I didn't want to review until I had more insight. The staff are very nice and want very much to make their clientele satisfied. My cleaning was so fast I could hardly believe they were done! Today's replacement fillings went faster than I've ever had done before, and I very much liked the dentist assigned to me today, Dr. N (I cannot recall her full name). Dentistry sure has improved a lot in 50 years!

We were given an appointment for 5pm, and once we showed up we were told they could not see us as they do not schedule appointments later than 4pm.

Rarely do I give a 1 star review, Western Dental worked hard to earn it! Have new insurance, booked at WD - it was easy to get an appt. They took x-rays, the usual stuff. I'm one of those lucky people that's NEVER had a cavity, always just get teeth cleaned and I'm out. Dr saw me, 15 second teeth inspection after viewing my "you have no cavities" x-ray... Said you need an "deeper cleaning" - ok, does my insurance cover it? She handed me off to admin, he said "no, not covered" (I thought hmmm, never needed that before, so I replied "it's too expensive, $400"). Three seconds later he said "we can do it for $200"... Wow, 50% off in 3-seconds, what I I push back for a whole minute?!! I replied, "no thanks, just a regular, covered by my insurance cleaning"... Here's where it gets good - he, the admin, says "no, Dr won't do it"... What, what, what - Dr won't cleaning teeth because I don't want a "deep cleaning"?!! I should have said, "I have $50, will that do it"? BUT instead I wanted clarification, "so Dr won't clean my teeth" - reply "no"! Soooooo beware, it's obvious the a) my insurance doesn't pay them enough for a only a standard teeth cleaning and b) they will ALWAYS upsell you something (overheard, while sitting in the chair waiting some poor guy being pressured into a $900 upgrade of services - he too was asked, "what does my insurance cover"?) c) they are $$$$ focused, NOT patient focused! Highly recommend keep your teeth (and your wallet) away from this place!!!

Horrible experience with this location. I had two appointments one at 2:15 for general cleaning and another at 3 with an orthodontist. They took for first for the braces then left me waiting two hours for my general cleaning. Turns out the rude receptionist girl and the rude manager never checked me in for the general cleaning and was going to leave me there waiting for nothing. After finally being helped all they did was take the xrays and told me i had to set up an appointment to get the actual cleaning another day. No one has the time to wait that long at an office just for xrays nor have the time to come back again just for cleaning . Its not our fault your office scheduled too many appointments in one day and cant seem to handle it. Not once did i receive an apology for the mistakes made or the long wait and when we mentioned that we felt the wait was wrong we were told we were welcome to not return. This location needs to reevaluate who they hire as manager and receptionists.

If there is a negative star i will give this place -100 They dont respect patients appointment time. I had appointment at 2.00 pm for root canal and they call me at 2.30 and now they told me that doctor said they have yo remove my tooth and asking for more money. In this digital world doctor can't see the xray before the appointment that sucks

Avoid this place! First of all I wasn't greeted with a hello, or anything. I got do you have a mask, with hella attitude mind you. I also asked if they had one I could have and was told no there's a shortage. Now after I left and bought masks I came back and was then helped but the two women in the front were still hella rude. All I needed was my wisdom tooth pulled due to the daily pain I'm having. I was told that I would have to wait another month before being seen, and my insurance doesn't cover this. I would have been more understanding and patient but I am in pain and also got hella attitude from the beginning. Western dental is just a place that takes your money and doesn't care about you as a person.

Avoid this place. I came here for a wisdom teeth extraction a couple of months ago. They had me pay an 'estimated' cost before hand, which ended up being over $1500. They pressured me to pay it before the procedure, so I did. Then I got the explanation of benefits weeks later from my insurance stating my responsibility was only about $700. I've called several times and have yet to get any money back, I've just been told 'the manager is looking into it'. Feels like I'm being scammed.
