Western Dental & Orthodontics - General dentist in Phoenix, AZ

Weve been making quality care more affordable since our founder, Dr. Curtis Beauchamp, opened his first office in 1903. Like a lot of visionaries back then in Los Angeles, he did a lot more than start a practice. He opened up dentistry to the people and championed the idea that everyone should have good oral health.

He did it by delivering excellent care at affordable prices and letting his patients pay over time. Back then, they called it 'Credit Dentistry.' These days, it 's how almost all of us afford the braces, root canals and implants we need.

By the 1930s Dr. Beauchamp and his son, Dr. Robert F. Beauchamp were treating thousands of patients at multiple locations. Fast forward to today, and we serve over 1 Million people a year in four states.

I've been several times and have never been extremely impressed. After my last visit, I scheduled my regular 6 month cleaning specifically at 9am so i wouldn't have to wait. When they called to confirm it became clear that they only scheduled an exam, not a cleaning, which I've never in my life experienced. So we had to reschedule and no 9am appointments were available anytime soon unless i came in twice, so i took a 2pm appointment. Before the visit Western dental relentlessly messaged me to complete paperwork in advance, so i did. Upon arrival, i was given the same paperwork to complete. After some waiting, i was called back for x rays. After x-rays i waited a while for the doctor. The doctor barely listened to what i said, looked at the x-rays, and did the oral exam. but when i named some level of discomfort, despite him having looking at x rays already, suddenly he's looking back at my x rays. He says I'll need more x rays. I wait more. After some time without anyone coming for me, i go find someone to help me and that person, the floor manager, took good care of me, but had no idea i needed help. We took more x rays. I go back to the exam room. I wait. The doctor returns and tells me I have cavities in a different part of my mouth than where i told him i had discomfort. I ask if he can show me where in the x-rays. He snarkily says "you read x rays?" And i tell him doctors always show me where on my imaging is the thing they're pointing to. He makes another snarky comment or two before pointing to the supposed area of the cavities, where there's nothing to see. He says it's not visible, but shadows and experience are how he knows (implying it would be impossible for me to discern). He disappears. Someone (billing? Office manager? Sarah, i think) tells me that if i want to get the fillings that day, i can do it after my cleaning, but I'll have to wait. I tell here it's already been almost 2 hours for 10 minutes of talking x rays and 5 minutes of oral exam - i won't be staying for fillings. At that point i decided that I'd no longer be a patient of that practice. Sarah then asked if I'd like to schedule the fillings and i said no. She asked if I'd still like the cleaning, seemingly hoping I'd say no - i said yes... That was the whole thing, the reason i didn't have the 9am appointment I'd originally scheduled. I wait. Another man, i think another dentist, comes over, says hello, and tells me that if it's alright with me, he'll start the cleaning because the other dentist is going to be a while. I say okay and he starts. He only does part of the work and the moment he finishes, he stands up and walks away without a word. The helpful floor manager from earlier, Priscilla, i think, then completes the cleaning. After it's finished, there's some confusion and tension among staff and I'm eventually attended to at the front desk. Sarah presents me with documents to initial and sign, and only after i look at them long enough to understand what they are, does she explain them to me. One is a summary of care which shows that i owe $0. She takes them and gives me a piece of paper mumbling something about it being a copy for me. It looks just like the $0 bill, but it's for $236. My eyes go wide and i ask to see the one i signed again to confirm that i shouldn't have any liability. she looks at me like I'm being ridiculous, while she shows me the $0 one. It turned out the $236 is the price i would pay for the filllings that i won't be getting from that office - a fact Sarah somehow didn't think it would be helpful to make clear to the customer to me. By the time I left, i had been there for 2 hours and 15 minutes, during which time i was being helped for no more than a total of 50 minutes, if I'm being extremely generous.

Clean office, nice staff and very nice dentist. My first time visit which had a lot of getting the paperwork out of the way and still dealing with staff shortages my appointment took 3.5 hours. I'm a mess as I haven't been to a dentist 2yrs before the pandemic and of course the reason now was a broken tooth that got infected. My fault. But seemed Thorough in my visit with many visits to come. I'd recommend.

After receiving 3 confirmation calls & text messages for my 9:00 appointment I showed up 5 minutes early to fill out new patient paper work however the staff didn't even show up until after 9. 30 minutes later after filling out all my paper work the receptionist told me they were under staffed, needed to reschedule me, & sent me home. I will not be rescheduling especially since all of the staff seemed extremely burdened by helping their own customers and everyone looked unhappy to be there. In addition the facility is in complete disrepair and doesn't look sanitary. I will be going to another dentist office.

I'll give this place an extra star because the receptionist was very nice but when I showed up for my appointment which was set the week before, they had no record of it. If you're into wasting time and gas, then this is the dentist office you've been searching for. If they can't handle a simple appointment booking, there's no way I'm letting them handle the care of my teeth.

Made an appointment for a cleaning. When I arrived they told me I could get the exam but they didn't have a hygienist and I wouldn't be able to get a cleaning. Why the hell would I want just a exam. Why wouldn't you call and tell me this. I'll find a more organized dentist.
