Bleeding gums can be a sign of gingivitis (inflammation of the gums), or gum disease, a more advanced stage known as periodontitis. If left untreated, gum disease can lead to serious problems like bone and tooth loss. Infection in your gums can spread to other parts of the body and has been linked to heart disease, stroke and diabetes. Fortunately, there are ways to manage gingivitis and gum disease. See your dentist to evaluate the type of treatment right for you based on the condition of your gums.

Your dentist will discuss your concerns with you prior to treatment and make every attempt to make you comfortable during treatment using the type of anesthesia and sedation best suited to your needs.

Periodontitis, or gum disease, is common but fairly preventable. The cause is usually poor oral hygiene. Periodontitis can lead to tooth and bone loss, and it's a risk factor for heart and lung diseases.

Without knowing the specific pain medicine you used, I can tell you that some medications cause dry mouth that can increase your chances of tooth decay or gum disease, which can result in tooth loss. When taking medication, its important to be diligent in maintaining an oral hygiene regimen to minimize the effects of medications on your dental health.

If you are uneasy about dental procedures, sleep dentistry is an option for many patients. Sleep dentistry can range from deep sedation, or general anesthesia, recommended for tooth extractions and complex oral surgeries, to a kind of twilight sleep that will put you in a very relaxed state. Nitrous oxide, or laughing gas, is another option for relieving anxiety during dental visits and is appropriate for patients of all ages, including children. Your dentist can discuss whats right for you.

We're here to make sure everyone has access to complete dental care of the highest quality. Not just check-ups and fillings: complete dental care including braces, implants and oral surgery. We have everything a healthy smile requires in one place.

We set our prices for people, not pop stars. Plus we accept almost every insurance plan, offer our own plans for people without insurance and help you cover the bill with CareCredit and in-house financing.

Western Dental Kids - Pediatric dentist in San Diego, CA

Weve been making quality care more affordable since our founder, Dr. Curtis Beauchamp, opened his first office in 1903. Like a lot of visionaries back then in Los Angeles, he did a lot more than start a practice. He opened up dentistry to the people and championed the idea that everyone should have good oral health.

He did it by delivering excellent care at affordable prices and letting his patients pay over time. Back then, they called it 'Credit Dentistry.' These days, it 's how almost all of us afford the braces, root canals and implants we need.

By the 1930s Dr. Beauchamp and his son, Dr. Robert F. Beauchamp were treating thousands of patients at multiple locations. Fast forward to today, and we serve over 1 Million people a year in four states.

Horrible service. The first time I was there the receptionist refused to check insurance coverage for white caps, claiming children can't have white caps only silver caps. My next appointment the dentist offered white caps right before we were about to put them in, I wasn't told my financing options in advance and proceeded with the more affordable option since my husband was working and I couldn't talk to him. Turns out my husband would have preferred white caps if the receptionist has just done her job the first time around. Secondly, the dentist messed one of my little boys tooth by taking off more than she should have and the cap wasn't placed correctly. It fell off less than 20 minutes after we left. Well that was only the beginning of one of the most traumatizing experiences for my child. Because we were told to go to the E.R. since he swallowed the cap. Additionally she said my son could eat anything with an exposed tooth and brush normally. But the first bite my boy took into a subway had him bleeding and in pain. I had to switch to a liquids and soup diet with a cold press on his swollen gums. He couldn't sleep well all night. So I woke up the next morning to see if he could be seen in ANY and I mean ANY locations the next morning but they refused because despite being a Kids only dentistry they could only see him every other day. The staff said they would make an appointment for my son for pain management. We went in for our appointment and the receptionist recommended over the counter Tylenol for his pain and said they just couldn't see him because it was a Tuesday even if he was in pain.

I had to make this a two part review because they deserve zero stars and they do not have the option. We went in today to get a silver cap replaced. Dentist said it would be quick. I wasn't sure what to expect. But it was horrible. They proceeded to put all kinds of sharp objects on my son's teeth without ANY anesthesia. They didn't numb the gums. My son felt everything. They just kept saying it would be fast fast fast. But the dentist was having a hard time putting the cap on. He was screaming and still trying to keep his mouth open. As soon as they were done I took my boy with me. There is no toys they could give us to make up for the torture he went through. Keep in mind there's a huge number of Hispanic individuals who come in here and even if they have a bad experience they don't always know how to speak up, but I really think this place should be closed. They don't take responsibility for anything and can't even abide by their own patient rights. Not to mention that they always offer to schedule all your children the same day, back to back, but don't tell you that you can't go in with all your kids. You have to either leave your other kids outside and go in with one at a time, or have your kids go in by themselves. How is that an appropriate choice to give parents ? Specially when they have younger children. They really need to warn parents. Specially if you are taking the day out of work or the kids out for school to make it to an appointment.

Dr. Al Kaissey has such a wonderful personality& he was the only dentist that provided additional Periodontal care options! His staff is so friendly and patient! I'm sad I'll be leaving CA because it'll be hard finding another dental office like this one!

I was at the clinic yesterday, had a xray and a consultation done. Dr Al Kaissey was awesome and his assistant Sandra as well. They are definitely the best staff I have seen in San Diego for the last 10 years that I have been living here. I highly recommend this place, they are so professional and caring about my concerns.

We will be switching insurance plans after our most recent visit. We showed up on time, waited for a whole hour, only to be told that the dental assistant couldn't make it so they would have to cancel both my husband and my appointments. Front desk worker Jasmin was so rude, unprofessional, and lacked sympathy for our situation. She told us we'd both be seen when we checked in, then later when I asked her what the wait time was, she told us that only one of us could be seen because they couldn't find an assistant. Then when another gentleman who came in after us offered to cancel his appointment since both my husband and I live far away, she told the man that she would try her best to accommodate him. She then ended up canceling both of our appointments. A whole hour later. I don't understand how that makes sense--if the true reason is that there was no one to assist, they needed to cancel everyone's appointment and not just selectively promise appointments to certain people. Throughout this whole ordeal, Jasmin would raise her voice, talk over me, and was extremely abrasive, which made situations worse. Not to mention they incorrectly scheduled our daughter on a Saturday even though they don't serve kids on a weekend, so that should have never happened. They only told us less than 24 hours in advance. Even on prior occasions we still had to wait 2+ hours to be seen just for a simple cleaning; at that point, what is the point of an appointment? I will be taking my family elsewhere. Never have I ever experienced such lack of professionalism in a health care setting, and I will not be bringing business here anymore.

Worst experience of my life!! They WILL have your kiddos waiting over 1 hour to be seen (even if you arrive early) That being said reception was insane and chaotic with the poor kids bored out of their minds!! With one tv paused on the main menu of a movie the whole time. BEWARE PARENTS After waiting 1 hour and 15 mins it was my sons turn to be seen, well they didn't let me in since I had my daughter with me and "because of covid" only patient and 1 other person can go in... when the reception is cramped with people and kids roaming around what difference will my daughter make inside? And Im not letting my son go by himself after seeing another poor kiddo come out every 20mins crying looking for his mom! How can you do that.. the dentist being a traumatizing experience as it is and you make it worst by not letting a parent be inside to give them support through it!! That mom at the end stood for herself because you wanted to make all the procedures in one sitting with that poor kid after he's still balling his eyes out at the end and she told you "he's just a kid he can't endure that much pain"!! But you wanted my baby inside by himself so you could do the same!! Hell to the no You should be paying me!! For going through this traumatizing experience.

The dentist is great. Definitely a straight forward guy but he has empathy as well. It's a hit or miss with the check in but honestly can't really expect more from front desk workers at 17 per hour lol. It seems to be an issue with people not having masks and they don't tend to give them out. It's kind of hard to find masks now at affordable prices right now so I feel those should be given out or available for people. Other than that I hate the dentist and have been not having a horrible time, so that's good. They also have payment plans that they give you aside care credit and that really helps because I don't qualify for that. I'd say overall 5 star dentist experience 4 star waiting/check in experience just BC of the mask thing. I would recommend this dentist for people who don't have the best insurance or financial situation as they can help with payments for what you need.
