Dr. Michael Graffeo received his DDS from New York University School of Dentistry. He then completed his Residency Program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Lincoln Hospital (Weill Medical College of Cornell University). Dr. Graffeo completed his final year as a Chief Resident of the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery program.
Dr. Graffeo received extensive training in implantology, bone grafting, dentoalveolar surgery, and facial reconstructive. His interests also include facial trauma, pathology and the treatment of full mouth reconstruction.
Dr. Graffeo has lectured on various topics including full scope Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with a concentration in reconstruction, dental implantology, bone grafting and noninvasive cosmetic surgery.

While at Mount Sinai, Dr. Linsky completed a one-year internship in general surgery, and his six-year specialty training in Oral & Maxillofacial surgery.
Dr. Linsky is a Board Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. He is a member, fellow, and Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. The person who has lost teeth regains the ability to eat virtually anything, knowing that teeth appear natural and that facial contours will be preserved. Patients with dental implants can smile with confidence.
For most patients, the placement of dental implants involves two surgical procedures. First, implants are placed within your jawbone. For the first three to six months following surgery, the implants are beneath the surface of the gums gradually bonding with the jawbone. You should be able to wear temporary dentures and eat a soft diet during this time. At the same time, your dentist is forming new replacement teeth.
After the implant has bonded to the jawbone, the second phase begins. Dr. Graffeo or Dr. Linsky will uncover the implants and attach small posts that protrude through the gums and will act as anchors for the artificial teeth. When the artificial teeth are placed, these posts will not be seen. The entire procedure usually takes six to eight months. Most patients experience minimal disruption in their daily life.
Dental Implant placement is a team effort between an oral and maxillofacial surgeon and a restorative dentist. While Dr. Graffeo and Dr. Linsky perform the actual implant surgery, initial tooth extractions, and bone grafting if necessary, the restorative dentist (your dentist) fits and makes the permanent prosthesis. Your dentist will also make any temporary prosthesis needed during the implant process.
A single prosthesis (crown) is used to replace one missing tooth each prosthetic tooth attaches to its own implant. A partial prosthesis (fixed bridge) can replace two or more teeth and may require only two or three implants. A complete dental prosthesis (fixed bridge) replaces all the teeth in your upper or lower jaw. The number of implants varies depending upon which type of complete prosthesis (removable or fixed) is recommended. A removable prosthesis (over denture) attaches to a bar or male- female attachments, whereas a fixed prosthesis is permanent and removable only by the dentist.
Dr. Graffeo and Dr. Linsky perform in-office implant surgery in a hospital-style operating suite, thus optimizing the level of sterility. Inpatient hospital implant surgery is for patients who have special medical or anesthetic needs or for those who need extensive bone grafting from the jaw, hip or tibia.

There are several reasons: Why sacrifice the structure of surrounding good teeth to bridge a space? In addition, removing a denture or a partial at night may be inconvenient, not to mention that dentures that slip can be uncomfortable and rather embarrassing.
If you are considering implants, your mouth must be examined thoroughly and your medical and dental history reviewed. If your mouth is not ideal for implants, ways of improving outcome, such as bone grafting, may be recommended.
With bone grafting, we now have the opportunity to not only replace bone where it is missing, but also the ability to promote new bone growth in that location! This not only gives us the opportunity to place implants of proper length and width, it also gives us a chance to restore functionality and aesthetic appearance.
Autogenous bone grafts, also known as autografts, are made from your own bone, taken from somewhere else in the body. The bone is typically harvested from the chin, jaw, lower leg bone, hip, or the skull. Autogenous bone grafts are advantageous in that the graft material is live bone, meaning it contains living cellular elements that enhance bone growth.
However, one downside to the autograft is that it requires a second procedure to harvest bone from elsewhere in the body. Depending on your condition, a second procedure may not be in your best interest.
Allogeneic bone, or allograft, is dead bone harvested from a cadaver, then processed using a freeze-dry method to extract the water via a vacuum. Unlike autogenous bone, allogeneic bone cannot produce new bone on its own. Rather, it serves as a framework or scaffold over which bone from the surrounding bony walls can grow to fill the defect or void.
Xenogeneic bone is derived from non-living bone of another species, usually a cow. The bone is processed at very high temperatures to avoid the potential for immune rejection and contamination. Like allogeneic grafts, xenogeneic grafts serve as a framework for bone from the surrounding area to grow and fill the void.
Both allogeneic and xenogeneic bone grafting are advantageous in that they do not require a second procedure to harvest your own bone, as with autografts. However, because these options lack autografts bone-forming properties, bone regeneration may take longer than with autografts, with a less predictable outcome.
This product is processed allograft bone, containing collagen, proteins, and growth factors that are extracted from the allograft bone. It is available in the form of powder, putty, chips, or as a gel that can be injected through a syringe.
Graft composites consist of other bone graft materials and growth factors to achieve the benefits of a variety of substances. Some combinations may include: collagen/ceramic composite, which closely resembles the composition of natural bone, DBM combined with bone marrow cells, which aid in the growth of new bone, or a collagen/ceramic/autograft composite.
Synthetic materials also have the advantage of not requiring a second procedure to harvest bone, reducing risk and pain. Each bone grafting option has its own risks and benefits. Drs. Graffeo and Linsky will determine which type of bone graft material is right for you.

Dr. Graffeo made this procedure much easier than I expected it to be. I got all four of my wisdom teeth removed and it took no more than an hour. The anesthesia wore off after about 3 hours and Dr Graffeo called my mom to make sure I was doing alright. The next day I had little to no swelling and I really had no problem with talking, but obviosuly my jaw did hurt a little and I struggled to eat anything that required chewing. But, two days after the surgery I felt well enough to return to school, and the day after that I was fine with eating just about any type of food. Today, one week later, I am perfectly fine with no pain whatsoever. Overall, 10/10 experience and would recommend to anyone. Based off of other people's experiences, Dr Graffeo made this whole process so much easier than what it could've been.

I had a wisdom tooth extracted and, from start to finish, it was the best experience! I can't believe I'm saying that because I truly dislike dentist visits, but Dr. Graffeo was personable and gentle as can be. The staff was friendly as well and I was in and out of there in 15 minutes. The recovery was easy peasy too. Where was Dr. Graffeo when I was 15 and had 2 wisdom teeth removed at the same time?! Highly recommend!

One morning I wake up in so much pain, as usual called my dentist for the argent visit ... He told me that he thinks wisdom tooth had to be removed , and he send me for consultation with a Dr. Michael Graffeo , DDS at Westchester Oral Surgery in Purchase, NY ... My experience was extremely pleasant , and peaceful... Once my wisdom tooth was removed I didn't even have any swelling at all ... Thank you so much Dr. Graffeo .... You are my Angel who saved me from all this horrible pain that I had for almost a week ... When you are in pain Angels do exist Dr. Graffeo , DDS is one of them .... Dr. Kur is the best oral surgeon I went to for issues with my implant. My implant failed because it was not correctly placed in by another surgeon. Dr. Kur worked on a treatment plan with me to correct his work and so far it has been very successful. I have been struggling with this implant for almost 10 years. Dr. Kur went above and beyond to ensure my treatment plan would succeed. He genuinely cares about the patients and what's best for them. I was able to communicate directly with him when I needed him and I really appreciated that. I feel like i am in good hands and I cant thank him enough for all that hard work he has put in to ensure I get my smile back after I lost my two front teeth. Kali reached out to me via phone and clearly explained my treatment plan and what to expect. She was patient and understanding and made the process seamless. I strongly recommend this practice.

Hi my name is Diane J. Hernandez ... I am writing in regards to Dr. Michael Graffeo, DDS & staff .. As I walked into a new dentist that I have never gone to before I was greeted but the most wonderful staff who assured me that I was in good hands ... I was literally shaking .. but they made me feel very confident that I was in the BEST of hands.... As I walked in to sit in the dentist chair I once again was treated by his assistant ... she was so lovely & calmed me down ..patiently waiting for the Dr. which did not take long at all came in & said just relax your going to be just fine he saw I was still so nervous ... but once again with his educated & calming voice told me step by step what he was going to do to me .. I had laughing gas plus intervenes when I tell you I didn't feel a thing not even the needle to numb me ... to me It felt like 5 minutes & it was all over but of course it took a bit longer ... I was amazed how quickly Dr Graffeo extracted my tooth & I didn't feel a thing .. conclusion : There isn't a dentist in the world that I would go to now btw the place was immaculate ... He was as kind as ever I would DEFINITELY HIGHLY recommend Dr. Graffeo to anyone who needs a dentist trust me he's the go to guy ... THE BEST: AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE STAFF: very friendly, efficient, professional: very reassuring first contact; scheduling was a breeze; no waiting time on two visits. OFFICE: ultra-modern, high-tech, spotless: very comfortable & comforting environment. DR. GRAFFEO: uncommon experience & credentials; very considerate (follow-up call); accommodating & affable; great bedside manner; very informative; inspires total trust; super skillful: complete relaxation knowing I was in the best hands. CONSULTATION: no rush or pressure; very clear & detailed explanations; all concerns addressed & all questions answered; state-of-the-art equipment: last shred of anxiety evaporated. LOWER WISDOM TOOTH EXTRACTION: surprisingly quick, totally painless during & after, no complications: nothing at all, despite not being a "simple extraction" in my case. COST: more than reasonable for such exalted level of work; prior presentation for approval of each procedure's cost: definitely got my money's worth and then some. I can't say enough good things about this dental practice. Last November I found out that I would need a tooth extraction. I had no idea where to go, and after some research I luckily found Dr. Linsky. I liked that Dr. Linsky was book a D.D.S. and M.D. I have worked in NYC hospitals for over twenty years and tend to be picky. I'm also a big baby when it comes to the dentist. On the day of the extraction I was nervous and in pain. I was given novacaine and opted to get a short acting anesthesia. Dr. Linsky was assisted by Michelle and she was kind and reassuring. The surgery went well. I was given clear follow up instructions for care, and told I could call if any problem should arise. Having a tooth pulled is not fun, but I knew that I was in good hands. I continued my care with him for the implant, and after eight months my tooth is finally ready for its crown. The office is pristine, and his front desk staff are also very nice and helpful. I highly recommend Dr. Linsky and his practice if you need oral surgery. The location is convenient, and there is ample parking if you are driving.
