Upon graduation, he attended Michigan State University, where he received a Bachelors degree in Human Nutrition/Human Physiology. MSU athletics is a very big part of his life and he attends as many sporting events in a given year that his schedule will allow.
Dr. Hamilton is an active member of several professional organizations including the American Dental Association (ADA), the Michigan Dental Association (MDA), the Kalamazoo Valley District Dental Society (KVDDS), the American Academy of Implant dentistry (AAID), the International Academy of Facial Aesthetics (IAFA) and also attends courses with the Pikos Institute in Northwest Florida. He is a member of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICIO), has achieved fellowship status in the International Dental Implant Association (IDIA) and in the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD), has graduated from and is an alumnus of the Kois Center program in Seattle, and is on the faculty of the Global Dental Implant Academy (GDIA).
Outside of the office, Dr. Hamiltons top priority and joys are his family; he has two beautiful daughters, Layla and Bree with his wife Jolie. The little spare time left over is spent Steelhead and Salmon fishing and the occasional round of golf.
Dr. Ashley Muehleise grew up in Schoolcraft, Michigan where she attended Schoolcraft High School and the Kalamazoo Area Mathematics and Science Center. After graduating, she received her bachelors degree in Biomolecular Science at the University of Michigan. During her time in Ann Arbor, Dr. Muehleise spent time volunteering at a community health clinic where she fell in love with dentistry.
She then went on to receive her doctorate degree from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry. Her priority is to make patients feel comfortable in the dental chair, while helping them achieve a confident, healthy smile. She is a member of the American Dental Association, Michigan Dental Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry.
Jolie joined our team in early 2015, coming to the office with over 18 years of experience, starting when she was a high school student at Portage Central. After attending the EFE (Education for Employment) program at Kalamazoo Valley Community College, Jolie started her first job as a dental assistant and fell in love with dentistry. She desired to continue her education, so she decided to pursue DANB (Dental Assisting National Board) where she completed her education becoming a Certified Dental Assistant, and then going even further Jolie later gained a certification in Orthodontics.
Through the years she has expanded her knowledge as well as her experience not only in the clinical aspect (back office) of dentistry but also in the clerical (front office) aspect. Although you may occasionally see her working alongside one of the doctors, her true passion is in the front office. Currently she oversees all of the patient accounts as well as insurance and specializes in patient relations.
After working as a Pediatric Medical Assistant for several years in a local practice, Jenni recognized her passion for problem solving, process improvement and leading people. With that realization, she went back to school and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management. In the several years following, she had the opportunity to work as both a Front Office Manager and then a Clinical Manager in Pediatrics.
Jenni comes to West Wind Dental with a dedication to both professional excellence and exceptional patient care. She hopes to continue to grow alongside the practice and is committed to doing her part to ensure that every patient has an excellent experience with every visit.
Amber is new to the Portage area, recently relocating from Indiana where she spent the last 10 years. Amber has always felt drawn to dentistry, which lead her to complete an Associate Degree in Dental Assisting. Amber worked as a Dental Assistant for 5 years prior to making the transition to the front office, where she is able to use her dental knowledge to better serve our patients.
Amber is married and has a 5 year old cat named Bandit and a 3 year old silver Labrador named Molly. In her spare time, Amber enjoys doing arts and crafts with her mom, her favorites being diamond painting and crochet.
Sheilah is our Hygienist at West Wind Dental. Before attending hygiene school, she worked in a dental office as a dental assistant and knew that she wanted a career in dentistry. She attended and graduated from Kalamazoo Valley Community College in 2003 and spent many years in community health following graduation. Sheilah is active in pursuing dental education and loves to pass that education on to her patients. She is especially excited to help those patients at risk for periodontal disease and provide periodontal therapy.
Honest care is a true passion for Sheilah, care not only for her patients but also her coworkers. It is her personal goal to help each of her patients achieve optimal dental and oral health that is personally appropriate for them.
Sheilah spends most of her free time with her husband on a field or a court cheering on their two sons. She and her family are very active in their community and church. She also enjoys running, exercise, gardening and travel.
Kendyl has lived in Portage since she was a child. She attended Portage Public Schools and afterwards completed the Dental Hygiene Program at Kalamazoo Valley Community College. She always knew that she wanted a career in dentistry and had a wonderful relationship with her dental office growing up.
Kendyl has a passion for hygiene and providing the best care for all her patients. She strives to continue her education and share that knowledge with others. It is her goal to help every patient reach their optimal oral health.
Jacqi is a local resident in Mattawan where she lives with her husband and two boys. Jacqi joined the West Wind Dental team in September 2012, following her completion of the Dental Assisting program and internship with Everest Institute in 2011. She has grown exponentially in her years here, and in 2017 was promoted to Lead Dental Assistant. In the future she plans to pursue further education by obtaining her CDA.
Emily is originally from Saginaw, Michigan, but recently relocated to the Portage area where she is excited to be pursuing a career in the dental field. While she plans to pursue further education in her role as a Dental Assistant, Emily is eager to help in creating healthy and beautiful smiles for all of her patients and believes that approaching their care with empathy and a positive attitude is key.
Megan grew up in Ionia, Michigan, where she completed a Dental Assistant program at the Ionia Heartlands Institute. She thencompleted her associates degree at Lansing Community College, spent several years in the dental industry, followed by nearly a decade in management positions within the nonprofit industry.
When not serving her patients, Megan enjoys volunteering as a proud Jaycee and Rotarian. She also loves long summer weekend trips and travel of all kinds. Megan is newly married to her wonderful husband, Keith.
