I love being a dentist: my profession allows me to beautify, soothe, motivate, and reward all in a single day! I understand that every patient has unique concerns and desires; thus, I will always listen to you, respect your situation, and treat you in a professional, conscientious, and compassionate manner.

As a dentist, I am focused on problem-solving and finding the perfect solution for each persons needs. By listening to you, and exploring your stories and habits, I am able to solve problems and resolve issues.

Our conversations create a bond, and I appreciate being included in your world. I love experiencing life phases with my patients: baby teeth, teenagers, college, career choices, weddings, babies, grandbabies, retirement.

I am an active member of the Connecticut State Dental Association Continuing Education Council. We scout, contact, and organize speakers for local and state-level meetings. Planning and organizing educational lectures keeps me abreast of new information, techniques, and upcoming hot topics before they are the hot topics.

In my position on the Council, I attend multiple professional meetings each year, evaluating new speakers across all disciplines. I also sit on subcommittees to evaluate the usefulness of each topic to the profession.

Serving on this large council, alongside dentists, dental hygienists, and dental assistants, gives me the opportunity to learn and ask questions of many oral healthcare professionals from around the state.

In 2011, Connecticuts free dental clinic, Missions of Mercy, came to Waterbury. I volunteered to take a lead role in this project and have stayed with it ever since. I feel lucky to be one of the Leads for the Community Volunteers during the event and to manage the post-op phone calls after the event. Although it is challenging and sometimes exhausting work, it is also tremendously rewarding to be able to serve others in this way. I feel privileged to work alongside my colleagues and to improve the lives of so many. In 2015, I inspired my office workers to join me, too!

On a personal level, I have volunteered as a Girl Scout leader, striving to inspire girls to be more than they think they can be. I also teach a finance class to elementary school children every year, run the annual Muffins with Mom event at our local elementary school, and have taught CCD to second graders at our local church.

Originally from Macedon, NY, just outside of Rochester, I now live in Newtown, CT with my family. My full married name is Cheryl Sobieraj Wadhwa; however, I practice under the name Sobieraj as my husband is a Doctor as well. He works as the Chairman of Orthodontics at Columbia University.

We have an adult son, two daughters, and another, younger son, in addition to three dogs, two cats, a slew of frogs, and chickens! We have built our own chicken coop and are enjoying raising chickens; surprisingly, their care takes a lot of myspare time.

When I have free time, I enjoy running, reading, along with walking, hiking, and traveling. Recently our family has been fortunate to travel to and hike Patagonia, Machu Pichu, Tanzania, and Kashmir, as well as Utah and throughout New England.

We recognize that all of our patients are unique and deserve to receive dental care that reflects their individual needs. Our experienced and talented dental team is committed to working with you and your family to create a comfortable, stress-free, and rewarding dental experience every time you visit our practice.

I completed the dental assistant program at Valley Medical Institute in 2003 and joined West Side Dental a year later. I take care of a bit of everything, from assisting both dentists in the office to answering phones and checking inventory. The best part of my job is interacting with our patients and helping to give them a positive dental experience.

West Side Dental CT - General dentist in Waterbury, CT

I am a registered dental hygienist who has helped to meet our patients dental hygiene needs since 1998. I work very hard to make our patients feel comfortable while giving them the best care possible. My favorite part of my job is making our patients feel happy and encouraging them to keep their smiles healthy. I am anesthesia trained and enjoy continuing education.

I graduated from Lincoln College of New England with my Associate of Science degree and joined this practice in 2017. I strive every day to improve the health of my patients, educate them about their oral health, and provide dental care in a comfortable setting. I feel blessed to be a member of West Side Dental team. Everyone here is very professional in their field, caring, and respectful toward each other and toward their patients.

I have been married for 15 years to my husband Ardi and we have three daughters. I love spending time with my family and visiting attractions in Connecticut and other nearby states. I also enjoy volunteering in Mission of Mercy dental clinics and am a member of the American Dental Hygienist Association.

As a registered dental hygienist, my job entails cleaning patients teeth and giving oral hygiene instructions. Also, giving gum therapy to patients. I began working at this office in February 2016 and started in the dental field in September 2011. I have dual Bachelors degrees in dental hygiene and in science from the University of Michigan Ann Arbor. My favorite part of my job is treating patients and making them feel like their friend/provider. It feels good when you help someone with their oral health needs. I love working with my doctors because they take their career seriously and care about the patients. The whole team works well all together as well.

Our practice was started with the philosophy of treating people the way we want to be treated and 32 years later, we are still growing with this motto. We are committed to quality care and service in a comfortable, family-friendly environment where three generations are comfortable. We offer a wide range of dental services using the latest technologies from a caring team of professionals with a long history serving the greater Waterbury community. We take pride in volunteering our time outside the office as well. We hope to inspire our patients to do the same!

The Dentist is nice however the practice is run poorly. I was told that I was getting a regular cleaning but then billed for a full mouth debridement. Costs of procedures should be upfront and the plan discussed before performing the work and billing the insurance. I called and left messages the calls were not returned and then the office manager tells me that I didn't call or leave a message, unbelievable.

Very nice place, I was greeted by the receptionist and had my temperature taken and was greeted warmly. Then I meet Irsida to do my cleaning who was very friendly and finally I meet Dr. Sobieraj who was also very nice. Overall I would recommend this place to anyone.

The entire staff here is incredible, from Susan, their wonderful office manager to the doctors and assistants. Every time I'm there I know I'm in great hands, everyone is beyond professional and it's always a great (and quick!) experience. Really grateful to have found this practice.

Staff was very friendly! However, four of the fillings I received here leaked and had to be replaced within a year and a half. One of the fillings literally popped off my tooth in February 2020 after receiving it in June 2019. Further x-rays from 2 different dentists both revealed multiple leaky fillings that all had decay within a year and a half of getting them done initially. Getting the fillings redone was expensive and annoying considering I had just gotten them done and not skipped a regular cleaning.

Dr. Sobieraj and the rest of the staff are professional, polite and friendly. My temporary crown fell out on a Sunday afternoon and I called immediately so that they would get the message first thing Monday morning. They returned my call that day and I was given an appointment the next day to get my permanent crown.
