Dr. Hanny Hamoui was born and raised in Brooksville, Florida. He graduated from the University of Florida, where he received his bachelors degree. Afterwards he obtained his dental degree from Boston University School of Dental Medicine where he graduated magna cum laude. He then completed dual residencies in Advanced General Dentistry and Endodontics at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. During his tenure he also served as a resident endodontist at the Pittsburgh VA hospital system.
Dr. Hamoui is board certified and a member of the American Association of Endodontists. He is past president of the Hernando Dental Association and participates in many local dental and charitable organizations.
Your tooth consists of two main parts: the crown, which is that part of the tooth above the gum and visible in your mouth; and the root or roots, which is that part of the tooth that lies beneath the gum and is surrounded by bone. Inside each root is a channel that runs the length of the tooth. This channel is the root canal and contains the pulp (nerves, blood vessels, and soft tissue), which is often referred to as the nerve of the tooth. The pulp may be irreversibly damaged by bacteria associated with decay, very deep restorations, fractures, trauma, or periodontal disease.
In order to preserve a tooth in which this has occurred, it is necessary to remove the diseased pulp tissue. This procedure is known as endodontic therapy. Since endodontic therapy is concerned with removing only the pulp from the root canal, the root will continue to function normally because the supporting tissues remain intact. It is advisable to remove the injured pulp because it may become infected or act as an irritant to the tissues surrounding the tooth.

Honestly the best dentist experience I've ever had. From coming in to leaving, everyone was super friendly and welcoming. I've never had a root canal done before and Dr. Hamoui was very informative from start to finish, even going as far as giving me updates mid procedure. Was 110% worth the hour drive from Dunnellon! I would recommend to anyone needing specialty dental work. Thank you so much for helping me out!

My visit to West Shore Endodontics and Doctor Hamoui was about 2 months ago for a root canal and it couldn't have been more (surprisingly) pleasant. Dr. Hamoui and his assistant explained everything that would be taking place and put me at ease. The root canal procedure was painless and over before I knew it. I definitely highly recommend them.

I would like to start off by saying that I have always been afraid of the dentist. And I was dealing with pain for the past 2 1/2 weeks. I went in for my consultation and the staff and Dr. Hamoui was very knowledgeable and made me feel at ease that he will take of the situation. I went in for my root canal procedure and was anxious and nervous all at the same time. Dr. Hamoui and his assistant Yaritza were super welcoming and made me feel absolutely comfortable. Highly recommend this location for all your specialty needs.

First off, I'd like to say, I am the biggest scaredy cat of dentists that I have ever known. Babies and children don't have the fear that I do. That being said, today I went in for an emergency root canal. My blood pressure was ramped, the fear had me shaking inside! The staff there was patient, calm and more empathetic than most Dentists I've seen. The shots are still very painful for me, but the doctor handled me with kid gloves. I like the fact that he is explaining what he's doing as he is doing it. The fear of not knowing what's happening or what's going on is the worst thing ever, for me! Dr Hamoui and staff made me feel super comfortable! They're knowledgeable and friendly! I highly recommend West Shore Endodontics for all your specialty dental needs! I had the best experience ever here! I called in for a root canal and they fit me in for the next day! All the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming and made me feel at ease! My visit was as wonderful as a root canal could be. It started with them squeezing me in same day to help me get relief from my pain. The doctor was absolutely wonderful in explaining everything to me. The lady who took my X-rays was a newer staff member (would have never known that had they not said anything). The actions the doctor took teaching a new employer spoke louder than any words.
