Dr. Olsen is a proud native of Wisconsin and the Madison area. He attended high school at Holy Name Seminary in Madison and earned his Bachelor of Science degree at UW-Madison. He then went on to the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry, where he earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 2002. After graduating Dr. Olsen returned to the Madison area and has been practicing in Sun Prairie for over 17years.
Dr. Olsen has really enjoyed becoming a part of the Sun Prairie community. He is a former president and active member of the Sun Prairie Rotary Club. Dr. Olsen is also a member of the Northeast YMCA Board and 100 Men of Dane County. In addition, he has also enjoyed getting to know many of the families in the community while coaching his childrens baseball, softball and basketball teams. Dr. Olsen loves connecting personally with his patients, young and old and takes it as the highest compliment when they are comfortable enough to call him by his first name.
When Dr. Olsen is away from the office, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Michele, and four busy children, Taylor, Ben, Alex and Emma. Dr. Olsen loves watching all of the Wisconsin sports teams and has a special place in his heart for the Wisconsin Badgers where he met his wife Michele. He also enjoys playing basketball and golf and spending time with family and friends.
A native of Madison, Wisconsin, Dr. McKenna graduated in the top 10% of his class in 2001 from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry. He began his professional career by serving with the United States Navy Dental Corps, completing his General Practice Residency at the Naval Hospital in Great Lakes, Illinois and then serving overseas.
Dr. McKenna is a compassionate individual who takes great pride treating his patients with respect and comfort. A perpetual student, he completes an average of 100 continuing education credits per year. He is honored to be a mentor for the Marquette Dental school and a speaker for the American Dental Association's Success Program. He is an alumni of the prestigious Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Studies and the Misch Implant Institute. Dr. McKenna is a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry and the International College of Oral Implantology.
Austyn, Wendy, Joyce, Amy, Dana, Jodee and Morgan are committed to your oral hygiene and periodontal health. They provide cleaning and scaling of the teeth and soft tissues, place sealants, screen for oral cancer and take diagnostic x-rays. They are all educated in periodontal care and are excited to talk to you about maintaining your healthy smile. In addition, they are always eager to questions you have concerned your dental needs and treatment options.
Matt, Amy, Alayna, Dana and Tiahna will make you feel comfortable during your dental treatment. Each of them has remarkable knowledge with the dental procedures we offer and are happy to answer any questions you may have. They work hard with Dr. McKenna and Dr. Olsen in providing you with your dental treatment.

I was greeted immediately upon entry by very kind staff members. They answered all of my questions during the check in process. I was taken back for my exam by Matt, he remembered me from when I was little. I haven't been in the dentist in awhile and everyone was extremely kind about it. My service dog was given a space to lay so she would be out of harm from the X-rays and I was provided with a blanket. He was very detailed in his questions for me so he could accurately inform Dr.Olson. My exam was comfortable, kind, and informative.

Always talk to you and explain what is going on what your options are when something comes up. Cleaning always easy and all the staff are a pleasure to talk too.

Would love to give five stars however reception is rude and condescending to my family. Like most of the country we experienced financial hardship from the pandemic. One of the receptionists needs to get a job where you don't need to work with patients or customers.

I married into a family of physicians, pharmacists, and dentists. Dr McKenna, Dr Olsen, and their team are beyond excellent. They are outstanding service providers. Walking into the office; the friendly informative greeting by Kathy, Kelsey and crew starts what will be your pleasant dental experience. Morgan, and J Joyce my hygienists, were friendly, thorough, and gentle as a hygienist can be. Dr. Tanner is hands down the best dentist I have been treated by in my 64 years(That includes my father in law and brother in law who were dentists).

The best dental experience of my life. They are polite, friendly, and almost overly accommodating. The doctor explains everything they do and everyone was incredibly gentle. It doesn't matter how good you think your dentist is, you should go here.

I was a first time customer (new to the area) and had a minor dental emergency. I was seen within 24 hours, got terrific care that was very well explained as the procedure was in progress. It was a very positive visit. I would definitely recommend West Prairie Dental if you're looking for or are in need of dental care. 5 stars without question.

It is always a nerve wracking experience for me to find a new dentist so I consider that I hit the jackpot with this choice. Calming atmosphere, helpful staff, gentle and thorough examination and cleaning for the win! I almost can't wait to go back! Their efforts to understand what a patient is looking for and wants to achieve is very reassuring. Dr McKenna was upfront with possible solutions and practical approaches, just what I was looking for.

Morgan is my dental hygienist and she does an excellent job with teeth cleaning and x-rays. She explains clearly what she is doing and makes sure I am having a comfortable experience. Dr McKenna also does excellent work and explains very thoroughly what he is going to do. He also makes sure I'm comfortable during the procedure. I highly recommend both of them.

I have never had a better dentist than I do now, and I'm 60! Dr. McKenna is tremendous, I respect his style, and his forte speaks for itself! He is truly knowledgeable & gifted in what he does! I always feel welcome, and trusting in my appointments, everything is explained and followed through, even in planning for the future. These people really care. All the staff I believe pick up on Doctor McKenna's professional confidence and provide equally superior service. I without hesitation recommend West Prairie Dental. Very satisfied!
