Dr. Stephen Kao began his academic career at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, one of the most renowned engineering schools in the country. Shortly after graduating with honors, he pursued his interest in the dental arts at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, graduating at the top of his class.
Among his most noted and proudest accomplishments was the completion of his residency at both the East Orange and Lyons, NJ Veterans Affairs Hospitals. His service to some of our country's bravest men and women in uniform was a great experience and an honor he won't soon forget.

Dr. Kao is, by far, the best dentist I have ever seen. I have seen numerous dentists since childhood due to moving frequently and a variety of dental issues. Dr. Kao is extremely knowledgeable, personable, compassionate, honest and reliable. He has done extensive dental work for myself and my husband over the years. I could not recommend him more. His staff are very kind and helpful and the office is very clean and comfortable.

I had to write this review because I saw a one star review from someone who seems to be giving businesses a 1 star reviews. My family and I have been going to Dr.Kao for over 15 years. We followed him from the shore office to his Rockaway office. He's professional, caring and I always leave with my questions answered. I recommend him to everyone especially if you don't like pain. He's my gentle dentist!

I found Dr. Kao when going through a very very painful tooth chipping. On top of that, I was in the middle to end of my pregnancy when all this happened. He was very pleasant and the front desk staff was very helpful with insurance explanations. Everything was explained during any procedure. I have been seeing him since. He is very gentle, thorough and personable. We as a family will be going here. I could not be happier

Dr. Kao and his team are so helpful and kind whenever I come in for a cleaning or to get a cavity filled. Dr. Kao and his team are reasonable and are always checking in to see if I am doing okay in the chair or if anything hurts. From having a hard time understanding the payments to trying to find an appointment, they are super understanding and so helpful with every situation. I am grateful to have them as my dentists, I highly recommend Dr. Kao to everyone!

I can not say enough about how happy I am to have found this office! After having the same Dentist for the last 8 years, it was nerve wracking to find a new one. Dr. Kao's staff and his staff are so kind, patient and Dr. Kao was truly concerned and asked me multiple times if I pain!

First time coming here and it was the best experience I've had, in an anxious person and they made me feel calm and safe. Not only that but the doctor took his time with me and assured me of everything. Receptionist are lovely and welcoming! Definitely recommend coming here!

I found Dr. Kao a couple months ago due to an emergency. The office staff was able to get me in immediately and I've been happy ever since. The ladies at the Front Desk are phoneomnal and accommodating. Dr. Kao is very gentle, thorough, and friendly. After years of horrible experiences with dentists I'm relieved to have finally found a practice I trust.
