Dr. Shouhed was born, raised, and educated in Los Angeles, graduating in 2009 from the University of California Los Angeles and earning his dental degree at the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of the University of Southern California.
He relocated to Henderson, Nevada, to complete his residency training in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics at the Roseman University of Health Sciences, where he also earned a Master of Business Administration. He returned to Los Angeles to improve the smiles of his hometown community.
At West LA Orthodontics, Dr. Shouhed treats his patients like family and follows a treatment philosophy that emphasizes a conservative approach. He only recommends procedures for his patients if he believes that theyre absolutely vital to their oral health.
Dr. Shouhed prides himself on using the most cutting-edge technologies so that he can provide his patients with the safest, effective, and highly customized treatments available in modern dentistry and orthodontics.
In his spare time, Dr. J enjoys traveling and spending time with his family. You can also catch him coaching youth basketball at the Beverly Hills Basketball League on the weekends or volunteering at Friendship Circle for special events. Dr. J believes in community and he spends a lot of his time giving back to the community he serves.

The Friendship Circle of LA is a wonderful local organization that counts over 1500 volunteers since inception and hundreds of families served. This group is committed to serving families that have special needs children. It is Dr. Js charitable organization of choice, and at West LA Orthodontics, we are proud to support The Friendship Circles cause by donating to them a portion of each and every patients payment.
The Friendship Circles mission is (1) to provide children who have special needs with a full range of social, recreational, educational and Judaic experiences; (2) to provide their parents with respite and support; and (3) to enrich, inspire and motivate teenagers through sharing of themselves with others.
The Friendship Circle is made up of five parts: children, volunteers, parents, staff, and supporters. The Friendship Circle envisions a world where people who have special needs and their families are accepted, included, and befriended so they can become successful members of society. To create that world, The Friendship Circle fosters an environment where these children and families are given the support and love they need. In addition to supporting families and children with special needs, The Friendship Circle endeavors to empower teens to take an active role in assisting and nurturing the wider community with the hope of creating a new generation of leaders to make the world a better place.
Every week, teenage volunteers visit participating children in their homes, engaging in activities and developing close friendships. These visits can be arranged to accommodate a wide variety of schedules. The Friendship Circle also hosts a grand Birthday Bash each month and invites all participating children to celebrate their birthdays with volunteers and other birthday boys and girls. Party highlights include activities, refreshments, goody-bags and of course a birthday cake. It will be a party to remember!
At Basketball Club, kids get to experience the thrill of the game firsthand right from the court! Coached by a professional sports therapist, the children learn the rules of the game, develop teamwork and most of all have fun!
On select Sundays, the Sunday Circle enables parents to leave children in the hands of qualified professionals and loving volunteers. The children and their special friends spend 2 wonderful hours together enjoying music, art, sports and a state of the art inclusive playground.
The Friendship Circle hosts holiday programs that allow the entire family to celebrate together in a comfortable and lively setting. Volunteers are on hand to bring holiday cheer and ensure that the needs of each child are met. Innovative activities bring the warm and joyous feelings of the holidays to the children and their families.

My review for West LA Orthodontics is long overdue, but my experience with this particular team has been nothing short of fabulous. Dr. J has by far the best chairside etiquette I have ever experienced. He is extremely personable, professional, truly cares about his patients, and instantly puts you at ease. I am so glad I stumbled upon West LA Orthodontics back in February after researching a quote for a new set of Hawley retainers. Dr. J had the best quote in town and I was even able to receive a discount for cash payment. Kudos to Dr. J!

If you are looking for a great place where they'll do a GREAT JOB and treat you REALLY GOOD, this is it! Dr. Jonathan and his staff are always super sweet and friendly. Every visit is always so pleasant and let's not talk about how much improvement I've seen is such little time. Fantastic experience with the staff and service!!! I urgently needed a new retainer (old one was from a different orthodontist from years ago and needed replacing), and with help from the doctor's assistant, Holly, I was very quickly and seamlessly able to accomplish that-- all within a matter of approximately five hours (from the moment I called, to going into the office and getting laser "impressions" taken, to the moment I picked up the final product). It is the fastest, friendliest, and hands-down the most efficient encounter I've ever had with a medical establishment! In addition to the accommodating service provided, parking in the area is free and easy. The facility and equipment are clean and modern, and Dr. J has great bedside manner: kind, welcoming, attentive, and knowledgeable. For future orthodontic needs, I'll definitely be returning. Thanks again Holly & Dr. J!

Dr. Jonathan is truly one of the most caring doctors I have ever met. He will do anything to give the best and most comfortable treatments for his patients. During my first appointment, he did a 3D scan on my teeth that showed all the flaws I had. He then discussed all the available treatments, keeping in my mind my financial status. I admire such doctors that consider all their patient's situations when discussing treatments. He's truly hands down one of the smartest and loving doctors in Los Angeles. Thank you! I can't wait to get the smile I always dreamed off.

During my consolation I noticed Dr Shouheds hands were very shaky. When I brought this up to Melissa at the front desk she seemed oblivious to the issue. I'm not sure how he can accurately place braces on my teeth with this underlying issue.

Dr. Jonathan Shouhed is absolutely a superb clinician and has excellent communication with all of his patients. From the first moment you meet him you will notice his bubbly personality and it's obvious that he truly loves what he does. If you have any orthodontic needs or have any questions or need a second opinion he is the one I would go to.
