Dr. Matin received his DDS degree with honors from theUniversity of California San Francisco(UCSF) and his specialty certificate in oral and maxillofacial surgery atUniversity of Washington, one of the top medical centers and most prestigious programs in the country. His 4-yearclinical training encompasses oral and maxillofacial pathology and reconstruction, facial trauma, corrective jaw surgery, bone grafting, oral surgery, preprosthetic surgery, dental implantology, and office based anesthesia/sedation.
In addition to regular training, he completedan Anesthesiology Fellowship atIndiana University, School of Medicine, Department of Anesthesiologywhich gave him an opportunity to develop superior background in the field of anesthesia and achieve clinical skills and knowledge for providing general anesthesia and sedation for patients of all ages to assure a safe and comfortable anesthesia experience for all his patients.
Along with his strong clinical and surgical skills and work ethic, he is fully committed to providing the highest quality care, and to continually improve the quality of life of his patients.Dr. Matin is an affiliated attending surgeon at Harborview medical center and the University of Washington School of Dentistry, where he was involved as an instructor and mentor for residents and dental students during their training.
Dr. Matin is aDiplomate of American Board of OMS, member ofAmerican Association of Oral and Maxillofacial surgeons(AAOMS),American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons(ACOMS). He has published several articles and has given presentations at state and national meetings.
Dr. Chang graduated #1 in his class at the University of Southern California School of Dentistry with highest honors in academics and leadership. He received his medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine where he went on to complete his internship in General Surgery and residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Out of over 220 applicants only 3 doctors, including Dr. Chang, were selected for entry into L.S.U.s prestigious Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency program in 1991. During his residency, Dr. Chang received extensive training in the field of reconstructive and cosmetic facial surgery.

I had a recommendation through my dentist to go here for my wisdom teeth extraction. They were also in the same network as my dentist which was convenient so I had no issues on that front. Team is professional and was able to knock out the procedure efficiently and effectively. Had three wisdom teeth removed and followed their aftercare instructions to the tee and healed up nicely with no complications. I would recommend them to anyone!

I was very anxious about the entire process of getting my 4 wisdom teeth out recently. Dr. Matin, the techs, and front office staff were all very professional and very kind to me. They made me feel I was in good hands from the consultation, to surgery, to follow up. Everything was smooth and I was grateful for the care. Extra points for having an after-hours number for questions and concerns.

My daughter experienced dental trauma from a soccer injury and we were both feeling lost about the process and very nervous. We were recommended to go to Dr. Matin of West Coast Oral surgery and I'm so glad we did! Dr. Matin was very thorough in his assessment and explanation of every step that needed to happen to help restore my daughters smile. I left the initial visit feeling more secure and confident that we had a clear plan of next steps, and his wonderful staff were welcoming and helpful too! He performed her bone grafting surgery and applied her dental splint successfully, and did a great job at giving me (the worried parent) support and information. Communication with the other dental professionals involved in her care was thorough and timely too! I'm so glad we chose West Coast Oral Surgery. A big thanks to Dr. Matin and his team!

West Coast Oral Surgery removed my Wisdom teeth. I was on a time crunch to get my wisdom teeth removed before I went back to school, and West Coast Oral Surgery was so accommodating and fit me into their schedule, which saved me from a lot of future pain in my mouth. Everyone was extremely friendly and made me feel comfortable getting my teeth out. The procedure was seamless, and fast. Additionally, my recovery went very well and I would like to give the oral surgeon and his team credit. They were helpful and the process was super easy through them. They have a great group of people ready to answer your questions and address your concerns. I highly recommend West Coast Oral Surgery.

From start to finish, the team at West Coast Oral Surgery made my experience of wisdom teeth extraction fairly painless and straight forward. The staff are so warm and friendly and willing to answer questions and assuage my worries and fear. The doctor is very knowledgeable and kind. They were up front about everything regarding the procedure. They always checked up on me and made sure that I understood all the facets of what would happen. Everything from the appointments to the surgery and the aftercare and checkups went smoothly. Dr. Matin and his group were excellent. He treated me very professionally and took time to answer my questions. I had four wisdom teeth extracted and was nervous beforehand but throughout the entire process, I was able to remain relaxed. The pain was nearly nonexistent until a little bit after the procedure during the healing process, but the medication prescribed to me basically took care of all the pain.

Dustin's Details: I specifically chose West Coast Oral Surgery to remove my wisdom tooth because of their good reviews. I made a great choice! Here are my reasons for the 5 star review: 1) Booking an online appointment through their website was extremely easy. I was seen very shortly after I booked my online appointment. 2) The facility was clean and made me feel like I was in the proper hands 3) The staff was friendly, helpful, and professional. -I am giving a specific shoutout to Brianna at the front desk. I was in a lot of pain because of my wisdom tooth, and the next available appointment was a month away. Without me asking, Brianna offered to put me on the cancelation list AND went out of her way to ask other clients who had less urgent issues if they would be willing to swap dates. My appointment got moved to the next week and Brianna saved me from what would have been 3 very painful weeks. 4) The extraction procedure was painless, fast (5-10 minutes), and healed well. They also let you pick a Spotify station to listen to music that you like during your operation! Constructive Feedback 1) Doctor Mehdi was very nice, did a great job with the extraction, and was pleasant. However, he could talk and engage with his patients more in terms of bedside manor and establishing rapport. 2) The post-op wisdom tooth form that explains care and what to do after surgery could be reformatted visually to make the information better organized and digestible. Perhaps a two column bulleted format would do the job. These are 2 suggestions that would make West Coast Oral Surgery even better but even as, I would 100% recommend them for your dental needs!

Let me begin by stating that I have high dental fear. So the idea of needing a tooth extracted, bone graft, and implant was truly terrifying to me. The front office staff were very kind, and did their best to find me appts that worked around my busy schedule. During my consultation, Dr. Marin was very nice, and very informative. We talked at length about the pros and cons of extracting the tooth and placing the implant at the same time vs. extracting then doing the implant in 6 months which would give the bone graft time to "take"... which was the route I chose. Yesterday, I had my extraction. Dr. Matin was very kind and answered all my questions about post op care. He was so patient and kind with me. Ari and the other surgical assistants were great. They kept me talking so that I wouldn't focus on my nerves. They were truly amazing!!! I couldn't have asked for a better team!! Dr. Matin used an injection called Exparel which is a non-opoid option for pain that lasts about 3 days. I'm on day 2 and have absolutely no pain. I'm a believer!!! I genuinely appreciate the care and concern the entire team has shown me throughout this process. I will definitely be back for my implant as well as with my teenage son for his wisdom teeth removal!!

The staff and physician are very friendly and thorough. The practice is in network with my insurance so that was a perk since I paid in network cost. I received all the information about the procedure at consultation so come day of procedure we were prepared. Procedure day was smooth, no complications. My daughter did well during her recovery. At our post op visit she got a Jamba Juice gift card which was nice because she could now suck from a straw. Overall great experience and I highly recommend this place.
