Dr. Sophia Thankaraj graduated with her dental degree from India. She did her post-doctoral training in a general practice residency at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, OH where she earned her certification in conscious sedation. She served as Chief Resident in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery department at Miami Valley Hospital (MVH).
She is on Medical Staff at MVH where she holds a faculty position in the GRP Program. She works with Dental Residents to provide access to dental care for underserved and special needs patients in the community.
She is caring, gental, patient and passionate about providing quality dental care to her patients. She is a member of the American Dental Association, Ohio Dental Association, Dayton Dental Society and Academy of General Dentistry.
Dr. Manjula Natarajan (Dr. Manju) graduated from dental school in India in 1997, she practiced dentistry in a well established hospital for a few years before following her husband to the United States. After coming to the US, she completed her two years of advanced standing dental program at University of California, San Francisco.
Dr. Manju has been practicing general/family dentistry since 2004 in the Dayton area. She attends many continuing education courses to keep up with the latest in dental techniques to provide her patients with a beautiful and healthy smile.
West Chester Dental Group is proud to announce the newest addition to our expert dental team; Dr. Kyle Detavernier. Dr. Detavernier has lived in Michigan his entire life until his move to West Chester to join our team. He is a graduate of Michigan State University with a degree in Human Biology. After college, Dr. Detavernier worked as a dental assistant where he discovered his love for dentistry. He then attended University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry and graduated with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree.
Dr. Detavernier is a member of the American Dental Association and soon to be a member of the Ohio Dental Association. He has traveled to Guatemala as part of a mission trip, providing dentistry to those that dont have easy access or the monetary means to receive dental care. He hopes to go back to Guatemala one day as well as travel to other parts of the world.

I have never felt as well taken care of as I have with Dr. D. He treats you like a favorite family member. I feel blessed to be his patient.

Look at all the one star reviews for the past year! I have politely called their office manager multiple times requesting a follow-up, with no returned call. Their hygienist quality for cleaning is inconsistent, so know who you are booking with for a cleaning. They employed a dentist who did 2 root canals, both improperly, the crown fitted improperly, the tooth ended up cracking! No follow-up, not even an apology. I'm afraid I do not condone their ethical practices.

I love it here !! I have been to a lot of dentists. I have extreme dental anxiety. They made me feel at ease. I didn't even have to tell them I had dental anxiety! They are just great!

I have been going here for years and really like the hygienists I've worked with. I had one negative experience with getting a mouth guard fitted but the office made it right. I went in for a regular appt this week and found out the office was closed due to staffing. I understand this happens but am very disappointed that I was not called, texted, or emailed as a heads up and instead had to find out after taking off work and driving to my appt. I received 3 appt reminders this week but not any cancellation notice.

I've busted my temporary crown twice and I cannot reach the emergency contact line and I am heading into a three day weekend. After I get my permanent crown, I will be changing dental practices.

Doctors are fine but the the front desk lady or ladies are rude!!!! The main one has an attitude problem and needs to be fired!!! I'm considering taking my business elsewhere specifically because of her!

If there is ever a dentist's office to go to it's this one. You will have the nicest most professional staff and you'll be taken care of by the best dentists. AND they have personality I even call one of the dentists Dr. Smilely.

I have been a patient of Westchester Dental for many years prior to their new ownership. It seems like the new ownership or the employees that they hire for the front desk are not very client focused. Today I was asked to confirm my own dental insurance because it was not notated on my medical insurance card. The actual statement made was you don't have dental insurance. I have been in the professional world for almost 20 years and have always had dental medical insurance etc. The assumption that I did not have dental insurance baffled me and even more so was having to make the phone calls myself to confirm that I did. The dentist and dental hygienist are fantastic but I'm really unhappy with my front desk experience. I took off work to have my teeth checked due to a recent pain at the time of appointment setting my insurance information was I asked for. This may have been eliminated altogether if my insurance information was confirmed prior to the appointment as is normally the case. Additionally knowing that I would have some type of payment after insurance coverage I plan to use my HSA card to pay the bill. I learned today that you were no longer allowed to leave the dentist and have them bill you for any outstanding amounts therefore I had to leave and schedule an appointment for almost a week later so that I can make sure that I've got my HSA card in hand to pay a bill. I'm not sure what medical practice does this. As a patient of Westchester Dental for north of 10 years I am definitely going to be looking for a new dentist outfit.

My appointment was at 11:00 .they called me promptly. The dental hygienic her name is Jonnie she was excellent. I have been a patient for a couple of years and still get the same great service each time. Both Doctors are great as well. The receptionist is very pleasant and so is all the other staff. I would recommend people to choose West Chester Dental.

Update 12/02/2021. one of my implants failed and all this place wants to do is tell me how much MORE ITS GOING TO COST ME TO GET IT FIXED OR GET A BRIDGE. was supposed to get a call back from them about what can be done and they're ignoring me I guess. Officially looking to spend my money somewhere else. Communication would be great. I'm devastated Original: I have been coming to this dentist for around 4 years. The staff is always friendly and loving. They Rock. Sadly Dr. Kim isn't there anymore. I have so much anxiety with dentist and he always made me feel cared for and comfortable. But I just had two teeth pulled yesterday and two implants set along with stitches by a new Dr. I dont really know. I am not a big complainer but telling me to take ibuprofen didn't work. I have been up most of the night, my jaw my head and my gums where the stitches are are hurting me so bad. I did call in but have to go back in and see him, understandable but I don't feel comfortable now. I feel like he will just dismiss my concerns. Dr Kim never left me in pain. anyway, I have several more implants I need done and I wont be coming back once the crowns are put on these two. :( and before anyone gets the wrong idea I didn't spend 4K plus the 4K my insurances pay, just to get pain medication. I have a career and I need these done for so many reasons.

Though their practitioners are amazing.... Their billing is horrendous! When covid happened they shut down their offices and provided us no way to pay an $85 bill. We tried repeatedly for MONTHS to pay the bill. They SENT IT TO COLLECTION! They then made us deal directly with collections. So we paid it. So now it's sitting on my credit report till 2026!!!!!! 10/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!
