Dr. Wernick began his love for dentistry when he was in the fifth grade. His father brought the later-to-be Dr. Bob to career day aboard his navy carrier. Seeing many different positions, it ultimately was a dentist that connected to him. The dentist propped little Bobby up on a corner and let him watch as he treated patients. Thus, begun his fascination and passion for dentistry. He has never deterred his career path since then and spent the rest of his schooling prepping to be a dentist.
A local of Virginia Beach, he was a Kempsville High School Chief and earned an athletic scholarship for wrestling. He graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1979 (Go Orange!) and then earned his degree in Dental Surgery in 1984 from the Medical College of Virginia. He completed his residency at the Veterans Hospital in Ohio and returned back to our great city to open a practice in 1986.
He has been in private practice since then. Dr. Wernick is an active member of the American Dental Association and the Tidewater Dental Association. He also has attended numerous extensive training at the Pankey Institute and Dawson Courses.
Dr. Wernick enjoys time with his two children, Kellan and Keith, and camping and hiking with his wife, Teryn. He periodically coaches volleyball and wrestling in Virginia Beach and likes to help youths learn and get involved in sports. He is an active volunteer in the community and takes pride in watching his young patients grow into adults. Some of his patients are third generation and it brings joy to see that he has an extended family beyond his marriage, kids, peers, practice and into the lives of his patients.
Dr. Preston McMeans will be joining our practice mid July 2021. We very much await his arrival. Dr. McMeans joins us after finishing an advanced residency in Ohio with indepth training on Advanced Oral Surgery, Endodontics, Implantology, Periodontics and even had Operating Room Experience. He earned his Doctorate of Dental Medicine, with Honors, at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine.
Ashley is our newest treatment coordinator having joined Wernick Family Dentistry in 2017, however she has been in the dental field since 2012. Ashley 's ability to adapt quickly and her caring personality makes her a perfect fit for our treatment plan coordinator position, who reviews treatment options, estimates, and does it with a beautiful smile on her face.Ashley loves reading and spending quality time with her husband and two dogs.Ashley 's personal life motto is to 'Just be happy and kind to others.'
Marissajoinedthe dental field working at anoral surgeon's office. She joined the Wernick Family Dentistry in 2014. Marissa has worked in the office as a patient coordinator, dental assistant, and now office administrator and she is passionate aboutproviding the complete patient experience, including compassion, comfort, and knowledge of dentistry.Marissa and her husband Aaron both play and coach indoor and beach volleyball and are passionate about staying physically fit, both by way of strength training and clean eating. Marissa hopes that one day her 4-year old son Naenoa (Nye-Noah) will grow to love the dental field, too.
Teryn trained as a dental assistant in 1994 by Dr. Wernick and was brought on in a temporary position. She then started her career in business management in the mid-80 's and attended college for business but quickly took a turn to become an 'at-home' mom. At Pizza Hut, she helped design and implement many of the systems that helped the company start their delivery program. She only left the company to marry her then boyfriend, Dr. Robert Wernick. Despite exiting the profession or organizing operations for bussiness, she never lost the desire to make businesses more streamlined.
She frequented the office and filled in as needed for the next 20 years, joining our dental team full time as the Office Manager twelve years ago. Before then, she spent a great deal of her spare time either teaching dance at Denise Wall's Dance Energy, aerobics at Wareing's Gym, or teaching skiing at Wintergreenor Snowshoe where she obtained her Level II PSIA certification. She teaches skiing in the winter at Killington Resort in Vermont as well as professional boot fitting at Stratton. She has also obtained her Freeslyle 1 certification for teaching skiers in parks and on rails. She insists she has five children, Kellan (26) and Keith (20), and three puppy dogs, Shelby (15), Po (10) and Bandit (6).
She is a proactive model to the Modern Dental Office incorporating everything form Chart-less Records to compliance for HIPAA secured and encrypted electronic services. She constantly receives training to offer the patients and staff the very latest and best services in the field. Her efforts in bringing taking the office chart-less and paperless led our practice to serve as a Beta for our software company. This allows us the opportunity to work on the development of the software before it is launched to over a quarter million dental offices throughout the country.
Teryn loves skiing and spending time with her family. She is also a very avid and strong volunteer in the community. She recently wrote a book on HIPAA for medical practices that helps offices understand their true requirement qualifications which develops policies and training programs.
Austin grew up in Virginia Beach andgraduated from Old Dominion University with a degree in Dental Hygiene in 2010. She was part of the Wernick Dentistryteam before she moved to Chicago in 2016. She spent 2 years there but is happy to be back hometo Virginia Beach and toher Wernick Dentistry family.Austin loves connecting with people and using humor to makeeach person'sdental experience a little more fun.When Austin is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family, paddle boarding, or planning her next trip.
Christy grew up in Chesapeake, Virginia and decided to join the dental field in 2015, learning both front desk and some assisting. Christy chose to take her love for dentistry a step further and attended Old Dominion Universitys School of Dental Hygiene. Christy graduated at the top of her class and earned her Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene in the spring of 2019. One of her main focuses is to make sure her patients feel comfortable and satisfied with their dental visit. She loves practicing dental hygiene because she is grateful for the opportunity to help motivate her patients to make healthier decisions and form healthier habits for their oral health.
Kylee was born and raised in Virginia Beach, Virginia. She attended Kellam High School and graduated from Old Dominion University with a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene in 2019. She absolutely loves making people laugh and is passionate about educating patients to ensure they maintain good oral and systemic health.
Becky has been a registereddental hygienist for over twenty two years and has spent the last five years taking care of patients at Wernick Family Dentistry.She graduated with honors and received her Bachelor of Science degree for Dental Hygiene at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has been licensed to treat patients in NC, TN, AL, and VA. Additionally, she is licensed in the state of Virginia to administer local anesthesia.Becky is an active member of the American Dental Hygiene Association and keeps her education current through numerous CE courses and seminars while also participating in charity work through mission trips. She is always eager to jump in and help with patient care and availability.Becky has been a resident of Virginia Beach for nine years. When she is not helping patients with their oral health care, she is busy taking care of her two sons (ages 13 and 16), her husband of 21 years, and their two dogs.
Michelle started her career in dentistry as a dental assistant in July of 1994. The greatest reward in being a dental assistant is helping patients, making them feel comfortable in a dental atmosphere and bringing smiles to their faces.Along with being a dental assistant, she oversees the lab and lab cases and is the OSHA Coordinator for the practice.In Michelle's free time, she loves spending time with her family, taking her dog for walks with her husband, going to the beach and reading books.
Jessica has been a part of our team since November of 2016. Jessica attended Kellam High school where she spent most of her time on the volleyball court or working out in the gym.Jessica then pursued a career in the dental field through attending Practical Dental Assisting of Virginia Beach, through which she earned her Certificate in Radiation and Infection Control and isworking towards getting her CDA.Jessica enjoys going snowboarding and spending time at the beach with friends and family.

I have had never such an excellent and very attentive treatment at a dentist before. Originally I went for an emergency appointment because I had a very painful canker sore. They were able to book me in the very next morning after my call. Dr. McMeans took care of me and I was just so happy with how he took care of me that I requested an appointment for my future dentist appointments. I have done so far a cleaning, which by the way, Mrs. Kylee has done an excellent job, and 3 fillings with Dr. McMeans and his very sweet assistant Mrs. Michelle. Dr. McMeans is always so caring and attentive. Always checking on me during the treatment and I do appreciate that very much. Dr. McMeans & Dr. Wernicks staff is always so attentive and just sweet overall and you can always feel - they all mean it. I'm a grateful patient and will be going no where else but Dr. McMeans. Thank you guys.

I have been going to Dr Wernicks dentist office for over 20 years. He is very gentle, you don't even feel the injections. He is a very personable person and a great guy all the way around. I'm very lucky to have him as my dentist. The girls in the office are very friendly and always have a smile while working. When I talk to the dental assistants they always have good things to say about Dr wernick. Thanks for all the great work!!!!

Cracked a tooth while vacationing in Sandbridge and I called Dr. Wernick. Little did I know that I lucked out and got seen the same morning at the absolute best dental office in the US! Dr Wernick x-rayed my tooth and said it needed a crown and they can do the work immediately. They digitally scanned my teeth and manufactured the crown IN THE OFFICE while I waited! No impressions were needed (with that purple goop other dentists use), no temporary crowns while waiting 3 weeks for a crown to be made, no multiple trips to the dentist. Wernick scans your teeth and programs their equipment to make a color matched porcelain crown. No pain, in and out within a few hours with a new, expert fitted crown - this office saved my vacation. I experienced the future of dentistry and its here at Wernick Family Dentistry. You're a fool to go elsewhere

One of the dentists replaced a filling of mine that had fallen out (an old one from 20 years ago), and I have had nothing but trouble with that tooth ever since. Food would constantly get stuck there, in particular pieces of spinach, requiring me to floss after every meal. Finally, after two years, the filling has completely crumbled and fallen out. They obviously didn't clean out the cavity well enough and certainly didn't fill it properly. I won't be going back.

I just completed my consultation as a new patient with Wernick Family Dentistry. I am so impressed. The minute I walked through their door, I was immediately greeted with a warm welcome and a smile. The girls at the front desk seem genuinely happy to help in any way possible. A few minutes later, I was in an exam room to begin my consultation. They are advanced when it comes to technology and explain everything to you. For someone who always gets a little nervous going to the dentist, I can honestly say I will no longer be that person. * I do not work at this practice* But, I am a dentist. Everything is perfection at this office. The facilities are great, the staff are kind and professional, and Dr. Wernick is a quality dentist. I needed dental treatment, and having the knowledge base that I have, I can say -without hesitation - that Dr. Wernick did everything flawlessly. Best communication from a dentist to a patient before and during procedures that you will ever have. You will know exactly what Dr. Wernick is going to do, what his doing and why he is doing it. Incredibly caring ensuring that you are always as painfree and comfortable as possible. I understand as it always is, it is a business, but I have never had the feeling of my procedures being rushed to get the next warm body in the chair as I have at other practices. Absolute best dentist I have had in my 52 years of living.

I would like to take this opportunity to share with those who have not had the pleasure of visiting a professional Dentist what it is like. I had the sad misfortune to have had an old molar crack and give way. It happened on a weekend so first thing Monday morning I gave a call to Dr. Wernick's office to set up an appointment. I was expecting a long delay, however his super staff said come on in and within the the next hour I was in the chair, checked and primed for repair. I cannot say how professional this whole process was. From entering the office with its cheerful reception to the initial dental review by a very highly qualified dental hygienist and then a super repair by Dr. Wernick. All this with little PAIN. In fact no pain. I did not need any anything afterward. Dr. Wernick is truly an apex leader.in a gentle way. Everyone in his office is highly educated and trained in their area of expertise. The office is zoned off and cleaned to all federal or state standards and then some. In summary if you ever need to go to a dentist Dr. Wernick Family Dentistry is the Best of the Best. A least 5 stars or more.

Dr Wernick has been taking care of my family and I for the last 25 years. Our dental work always comes out without any problem. Our dental cleaning also went without pain or discomfort even thought my teeth are very sensitive. Our mouth and teeth feels very clean and stains free. We appreciated DR. Wernick and his staff for being so good to us.
