Wellspring Dental started as the dream of two vibrant and enthusiastic young dental students. Dr. Mitch Zientz and Dr. Philip Classen were college roommates who loved the Big Apple and all its glory almost as much as they loved dentistry. They opened Wellsprings Carroll Gardens location in March of 2016 with the hope of expanding and offering high-quality, personalized, comfortable care throughout the New York area. Now, theyve teamed up with some of the best dentists in the City, so no matter which location you walk into, or which dentist you see, the Wellspring Dental experience will be outstanding. Growing up in Port St. Lucie on the Treasure Coast of South Florida, Dr. Zientz always imagined his path would involve medicine or science. Dentistry seemed the best way to be able actually help people at any given moment. I just fell in love with the profession. Good dentistry has an impact on peoples lives, not only in the obvious with your smile and your confidence, but also functionally how you feel, how you chew, how you bite. Theres nothing better than when someone experiences the benefits of that. Its a very powerful thing, its special.
Dr. Zientz is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, OK where he earned a B.S. in Biology. He went on to receive his Doctorate in Dental Medicine at the University of Florida. and completed a General Practice Residency at the prestigious Kings County Hospital Center in Brooklyn immediately following dental school. In residency, Dr. Zientz gained advanced experience in dentistry including dental implants, comprehensive multidisciplinary dental care, and emergency care.
While Dr. Mitch Zientz grew up Florida, his father grew up in New York and Dr. Zientz maintained and cultivated a strong bond with the city. He couldnt be more thrilled to call Brooklyn home forever. My wife and I couldnt see ourselves leaving. And now, with our family, were carving our own path here.
He and his beautiful wife Anastasia have two baby boys named Milo and Henry. You can catch him jogging or riding his bike along the Brooklyn waterfront, going to the Brooklyn Childrens Museum with the kiddos, playing basketball at the Brooklyn bridge park, and or at a Mets or Nets game. Like music? There is a good chance the tunes you enjoy in the office are the result of a carefully curated mix or hand-picked playlist by Dr. Zientz.
This Florida native is more than excited to call Brooklyn his home he is activated. Someone told me a long time ago that you can judge the quality of a doctor by how much time they spend with you the first time they meet you thats something Ive taken to heart. Dr. Zientz and I were inspired to start Wellspring Dental with the hope that we could really get to know our patients as neighbors, really take care of them and treat them properly. We are working to build a relationship with you so that by the time you leave youll feel youre better off than you were when you came in.
Dr. Claassen attended the University of Miami Frost School of Music before pursuing a career in dentistry. He may be a classically-trained cellist, but he absolutely lives for dentistry. He graduated from the University of Florida College of Dentistry and completed his residency in Bangor, Maine spending much of his time serving the less privileged of the community.
Before he moved to the city, Dr. Claassen had his own hops farm in Florida. No wonder he is such a fan of Brooklyn Brewery! On the weekends, Dr. Claassen likes to practice the cello, spend his time outdoors playing sports such as basketball, exploring the city, or eating his way through all the cuisines and flavors that NY has to offer. I enjoy Music of all kinds! I enjoy playing and attending classical performances as well as all the small music venues across Brooklyn.
Never one to rest on his laurels, Dr. Claassen is committed to continuing education. He finds introducing his Brooklyn Wellspring patients to advances in dentistry so motivating that constantly learning new dental techniques and technologies is one of his main priorities. On an ongoing basis, he furthers his training at the Dawson Academy for advanced dental education where he has achieved status as Scholar. He has also completed training in dental implants at the University of Miami, and he holds memberships with the ADA, NYSDA, and SDDS. Now thats the dedication you can count on!
People often ask us what drew us to dentistry. For Dr. Steven Mondre, it was the exhilarating combination of art, science, and people. He lives for the ability to work one-on-one with patients, improve the quality of their lives, and even transform lives through a smile. Dr. Mondre graduated from NYUCD in 1980 and has practiced dentistry in the City since 1981. Now thats passion and experience you can count on!
A dentist develops a long-term relationship with patients that lasts years and sometimes even decades. A goal of mine is to make sure that my patients not only achieve a high level of good oral health but that they also want to come to the dentist because they know theyre going to have a positive experience that theyre going to leave feeling better than when they came in. There are no guarantees in dentistry, but I guarantee that when you come into this office, you will leave saying, That was the best dental experience I could have ever imagined.'
Married since 1984, with two precious daughters, this vibrant dentist enjoys a wide variety of activities outside of the office. When he isnt improving smiles or educating other dentists, you can find him skiing in colder weather and golfing or conquering water sports including scuba, sailing, water skiing, and wake surfing when the weather turns sunny.
Over the years, Dr. Mondre has logged thousands of hours of continuing education. Why? Not because he is required to but because he cares about offering the best to you. Im very fortunate to be able to have lived through and been educated in an evolution of dentistry. Modern dentistry has brought a whole host of new and exciting restorative procedures to my patients! Because of his dedication to excellence, Dr. Mondre has been honored to be listed in Top Docs; has achieved prestigious fellowships in ACD, AGD, and ICD; has chaired committees in GNYDM (Greater New York Dental Meeting), and worked as President of the New York County Dental Society (NYCDS) Dental Marketplace. If thats not dedication to craft, we dont know what is!
