Our hygienists have all been with us for years, and are amongst the very best at what they do, as well as being a comforting, friendly face to our patients, with whom they have developed a strong relationship. Leading Welcome Smiles into the future is Dr. Vivek Mehta. Dr. Mehta received his Doctor of Dental Medicine from Boston University Goldman School of Dentistry in 2002. He has been practicing at Welcome Smiles for nearly a decade, becoming a full partner in 2008 and owner in 2012.
His accolades include:2013 Massachusetts Dental Society 10 Under Ten Award2011 Faculty Position with Spear Education (and current mentor)2009 Fellowship, Academy of General Dentistry2008 Fellowship, Misch International Implant Institute.
He is also a 2015 candidate for Master of the Academy of General Dentistry (MAGD). Dr. Mehta has extensive training in replacing missing teeth with dental implants, is skilled in Endodontic treatment (root canals), and is a specialist in TMJ disorders. In addition to handling a wide array of dental services, Dr. Mehta fully embraces the old-fashioned dedication to patient comfort that has always defined Welcome Smiles, and, as a result, has set down local roots to continue serving Auburn-area dental patients with the caring touch they have come to expect.
Dr. Craigen is a graduate of Rutgers School of Dental Medicine in Newark, New Jersey. He received his undergraduate degree in Biology from Amherst College and his Masters Degree in Biomedical Sciences from Rutgers Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences.
After graduating from Rutgers School of Dental Medicine Dr. Craigen began his dental career as a general dentist resident at the New York Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn, NY. While there he was trained in a wide array of dentistry, including oral surgical procedures, molar endodontics, pediatric dentistry and more.
With a range of skills and knowledge of cutting-edge technology, he strives to offer modern services with the comfort of his patients in mind. His ultimate goal is to offer high quality care for a healthy, beautiful smile, in a compassionate environment. He is well versed in meeting the needs of his patients whether the case is complex or routine. Dr. Craigen specializes in the preservation of a healthy mouth, as well as the art and dynamics of a beautiful smile.
In 2014 he received the Dental Student Award given by the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He was also a member of the Gamma Pi Delta Prosthodontic Honor Society, and was a member of the Deans List during his time at Rutgers School of Dental Medicine. He is a current member of the American Dental Association, the Massachusetts Dental Society, and the Academy of General Dentistry.
Dr. Craigen worked at Four Corners Regional Health Center as an Extern in the Indian Health Service. He administered dental services to underserved members of the Navajo community. While there he performed tooth extractions, endodontic therapy, restorations, and sealants.

WARNING! Do not trust this place. VERY UNETHICAL! I had a few upper molars supposedly "deep cleaned" Dentist Craigen outright lied. He said it was going to take 2 hours but it was only about 20 minutes. He obviously deceived me when he assured me this would be an intensive and thorough cleaning. Or I wouldn't have done it. Keep in mind, A regular cleaning is $133.00 and usually takes about 30-40 min. This was less time than what a regular cleaning would be. TOTAL SCAMMERS! He also tried to convince me that I have TMJ dysfunction and tried to upsell me on a bite guard and a few other procedures I didn't need! Don't fall for getting any work done that's not actually needed. (Even if insurance pays for it) It compromises the health of your teeth and gums. If the hygienist was busy for a full 2 hours then the charges could be justified but their hygienist rushed right through it. It was a joke. I later consulted with another dentist and they said they can still see tartar within the area that was supposedly cleaned. They also agreed that it couldn't possibly be done correctly in that short amount of time. Maybe they do a poor job so you end up getting future cavities or needing crowns or implants. Dentist Craigen said it was going to be $254.00 but when I got up to the front reception area it magically doubled to $508.00. (Are you kidding me!) They pulled the "Oh it was $254.00 for each side routine" Total with exam was $669.00 to clean four upper molars. They added in a ridiculous charge that was not discussed or agreed upon prior for an extra $36.00 that they claim is "oral hygiene instruction" Did I ask for this? NO! Did they obtain my financial consent to this? NO! This is highly unethical behavior! I came to Welcome Smiles because it had a lot of good reviews but I'm now I can see that most of those had to be faked by friends and family of those working there. Because, as it turned out, this was the worst dentist I have EVER been to. Don't make the same mistake I did. I asked them for my dental records on the way out and they gave me a photo copy of my x-rays which is totally useless to another dentist. (And they know this) A Dentist has the ethical obligation on request to furnish you your records including x-rays that will be beneficial for future treatment. Did they meet this obligation? NO! EXTREMELY UNETHICAL! They keep trying to bury my review with outlandish phony reviews! You can tell by the way the other reviews are overly promoting this office (All these names are going on record.) If it keeps happening a complaint will be filed and an investigation will be conducted by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Dentistry.

Exceptional! I went to Welcome Smiles to reluctantly get an overdue failed root canal crown replaced. Dr Mehta was precise in his work and touch. The total experience and environment was very professional. Dr Mehta is gentle spirited and the sensitivity of his work results in far less pain than I would have expected from the process. Becky is the most caring and compassionate Dental Assistant. I was pleasantly surprised and highly impressed. Becky was attentive to the lowest level of my basic needs of emotional support. I was also sensing her thru her informative disclosures and work alongside Dr Mehta she is probably equipped to perform the whole procedure herself. Highly recommended team!

I have been a loyal and faithful client of Welcome Smiles for several decades. I live in Hopkinton and drive to their Auburn dental office whenever a dental need arises. If I lived in New Hampshire I would make the drive to be treated by Dr. Mehta. Both he and his wonderful staff always make visiting their office a wonderful experience. If your new to the area and looking for a new dentist or thinking about making a change to a new dentist I would highly recommend Dr. Mehta and his talented team at Welcome Smiles.

I've been a patient since 2021 and have been very pleased with the entire staff. I have never dealt with a more professional or pleasant dental office. Love welcome smiles for my dentist! They are always so friendly and professional, putting your needs in their best interest. Highly recommend. Jess is an amazing hygentist who gives the best cleanings! Been going there for years and even with moving further away to CT with a 45 min commute there I will not change my dentist to anyone else because Welcome smiles is THE BEST!
