While Dr. David embarked on a four-year journey with the U.S. Navy Dental Corps, Dr. Jill worked stateside in private practice. Prior to returning home to Western North Carolina, the couple lived and practiced all over the country, including Chicago, Illinois; Virginia Beach, Virginia; and Spartanburg, South Carolina.
The Merrells have two energetic children, Evelyn and Mitchell. In their spare time, they enjoy community outreach with Manna Food Bank and Beacon of Hope Services, as well as camping, gardening, and hiking with their yellow lab, Riggs.

These guys are the best! I have had teeth problems for so long it's not funny, but the folks at Weaverville Family Dentistry have helped me get on top of my teeth problems! I would recommend that if you need to have some work done, and you want the best, see these guys!!

Called yesterday for an emergency appointment (broke a tooth and the fragment was mobile). They were able to get me in first appointment this morning. Dr David Merrell was incredible. I was stressed about what the process would be because the tooth was in such bad shape to begin with. He popped that bad boy out right in his office and walked me through my next steps. I was out with less than two hours. Couldn't have had a better experience for something so stressful. Will be making Dr David my regular dentist. Wonderful staff, clear communication in regards to billing snd insurance and extremely professional. Thank you so much Weaverville Family Dentistry!

I planned for a one hour appointment and allowed 1hr and 30min.I wasn't told that the appointment would take over 2 hours. I had to cdelay another appointment. Filling out the information forms on computer is. not an east and very cumbersome process. I was asked to pay half of the upcoming crown appointment which is 3 weeks away just in order to book an appointment nt. You have my mon ey with np service. I always pay my bills on time and on the day od service. When booking original appointment I was told that even tough you did not participate with my insurance, you would file on

Wife, Virginia, has mild dementia and has difficulty understanding procedures. Could a note be made of this in her records and either spell out on her receipt at check out, or notify me by text, of abbreviated future procedures she would be scheduled for? Thank you. Richard

Today to get a cleaning, I was told on my next visit I would be required to get a new 3D image scan, my insurance wouldn't cover it, my cost would be $155, regardless of any medical need for it......this was required in order for me to be their patient. Afterwards I realized, this testing is most likely solely for their liability ins. requirements to cover them from lawsuits and has less to do with any preventive medical need on the patient's part... so most likely, I would be paying for the test so they can meet ins. requirements......yes, I'm looking for a new Dentist after years with them!

I called on Monday morning with a "semi-important situation" (at least to me) and was given an appointment for the next day. The staff are courteous, helpful and the Dentist I saw explained what they would do - it was done and an appointment made to rectify the situation for the next day.
