Bringing healthy, beautiful smiles to the children of my community has been my ultimate goal as a dentist. I like working with children to help them feel good about themselves and instill in them the importance of good oral health habits. Its so rewarding to get to know so many kids. Their unique personalities and the funny things they say make each day entertaining.

I attended Wheaton College for my undergraduate education, graduating with my Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Biology in 1987 and was awarded the Julia Lange Award Scholarship for postgraduate study in a health science. I completed my dental education at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, earning my Doctorate of Dental Medicine in 1992. I spent my Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency at the University of California, San Francisco and taught there as a visiting post-doctorate scholar and assistant clinical professor until 1997.

I was awarded the Excellence in Teaching Award: Clinical Faculty at UCSF and was accepted into the Xi Psi Phi Fraternity: Iota Chapter in 1995. I have also been honored to have been voted a Top Dentist by my peers in Rhode Island Monthly Magazine in 2011.

I am actively involved in continuing education in order to provide my patients with the quality dental services they deserve. I have continued my education, attending several courses and programs over the years to extend my field of expertise. I have completed mini-residencies in prenatal and pediatric dentistry, conscious oral sedation and orthodontics and have annually met the continuing education requirements of the state of Rhode Island. In addition, I have been a member of numerous professional organizations in order to stay active in the greater dental community.

I am originally from Warwick, RI and currently live in Pawtucket with my daughter, Olivia, our dog, Elton and two cats, Wister and Hawkins. When Im not spending time with Olivia, I enjoy Pilates and dancing. I love to travel as well and have been to Italy, Greece and Hawaii, just to name a few.

My goal as a dental professional is to help give patients a good experience in the dental chair. Tooth decay is the most common chronic disease of young adults. I strive to educate my patients and put an emphasis on prevention. It's important to me that I take the time needed with each patient and create a comfortable atmosphere that encourages open discussion. Early dental visits, proper diet and feeding habits, injury prevention, and home care all play an important part in maintaining optimal oral health. I am committed to making my patients smile!

I completed my undergraduate education at Oregon State University, and graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 2003. I then received a Doctorate of Dental Medicine in 2007 from Oregon Health and Science University.

I started practicing dentistry in 2007. For six years I worked at a general family practice in Warren, RI. I have worked and continue to work for the Molar Express which provides cost free, comprehensive Dental services and oral health education to youth and young adults in Rhode Island's local communities.

Keeping abreast of current research and emerging data is very important to me. I strive to never stop learning. Continuing education allows professionals to improve clinical practice, patient care, and patient outcomes. I am an active member of the American Dental Association, Rhode Island Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, and the Providence District Dental Society.

I have attended countless courses and lectures on the topics of technology, implants, restorative dentistry, pediatric dentistry and more. I have been involved in study clubs and I try to attend the Yankee Dental conference every year. I am always open to learning and I'm often surprised by all the things I learn from my young patients every day.

I love getting out in the community and sharing my knowledge about oral health. I enjoy helping those in need, and have traveled to Honduras to perform free dental care for children, and have also volunteered with Mission for Mercy here in Rhode Island. In the past I have been active in:

I grew up in Oregon, but moved to Rhode Island with my husband 7 years ago and fell in love with New England! I enjoy exploring all of the wonderful places in the North East with my son Teddy, my husband, and my two yorkies. In my free time I enjoy sewing, yoga, cooking, and I dabble in growing succulents.

We Care for Kids Dental, Inc. is a small practice, creating a personalized treatment experience for each patient we see. Dr. Leslie Oltonand Dr. Michelle Daniels aregeneral dentists, working with infants, toddlers, children and teens to create happy, healthy smiles that last into adulthood!

Ok ,so my son has never had a bad experience here, but we came back from Florida recently and he was not feeling well so we called to cancel his appointment, apparently this was not done in the window of opportunity 20 hours as opposed to 24 hours , we called as soon as possible but this policy seems to be written in stone , anyway my son was confirmed with having Covid , instead of a empathy I was given the robotic reply of we are just the middle man etc.. extremely disappointed in this reply , I not sure if they would feel this way if their kids were in the same situation

My son has been going to We Care For Kids for a few years now, and he was always very anxious. Today he did great, he had a new hygienist and really liked her! He saw D r Daniels and really seem relaxed. And was joking with the receptionist Nancy and Sue! Thank you for all the time you make him feel comfortable.

It is unfortunate that this establishment treats it's customers the way it does. My kids liked coming here, but they have left a really bad taste in my mouth regarding their billing practices and fees. My daughters first visit to the dentist (I think she was probably 2) went great. She loved the place. The waiting room and exam room is kid oriented. The same day after getting home from the appointment she fell and hit her front tooth. It became discolored and I made an appointment to check if there would be any issues from the trauma to her tooth. Upon leaving the office, the person behind the desk told me that I needed to pay out of pocket as insurance wouldn't cover the exam since she had just had her exam. I explained to the woman that it wasn't a normal preventative exam, that it was due to trauma to her tooth. She insisted I would have to pay out of pocket. I explained to her that I had worked in medical billing before and that yes, if they used the same code for a normal exam it would get denied, but that I was certain there should be a separate code for an exam to treat trauma to the tooth and that there is no way I should be paying out of pocket when I have ample insurance. I asked them to bill the insurance and if it was an issue to contact me. We left it at that and I never received a bill, but felt as though they tried to get money from me as they can bill the patient at a higher cost than the insurance would pay. Most recently I needed to cancel my sons appointment and called 22 hours in advance rather than the 24 they required. They advised they would charge me for the late cancellation. I said I was only 2 hours outside the 24 hour window, but no offer to waive it. This is an office who has a waiting list for cancellations because they are booked so far out, so I'm pretty confident they would be able to fill the slot. Perhaps if they had offered to charge me only if they were unable to fill the slot that would have been more reasonable. Now after 4 years and 2 kids, I have decided to take both of my children elsewhere. A place that is truly family friendly that understands the challenges of a busy family life, as this place surely does not.

My kids are patients for years, my daughter had a appointment for cavities, there was a little boy in the waiting area, he was maybe a year old, the girls were talking with him and he was smiling. So nice to see that, Dr Olton is the best, she is so wonderful with my kids. And when I was leaving, I was talking with the women at the desk, thank god she asked if a needed a note for school ( course I did) . That made my day! THANKS Dr Olton

Our twins had their first visit this morning and they loved it! We were so nervous that the kids would cry but they did great. The dental hygienist were wonderful and very patient with them. At the end they got their little 'dental swag bag' and couldn't have been happier. Thanks for making the kids so comfortable!

If I could give it no stars I would. RUN! Don't just walk away from We Care for Kids Dental!!! Some background for you, my oldest has been with this practice for over 15 years, and my youngest for 10 years now. In all that time we were late to a couple of appointments, and dutifully paid the $25 fee whenever we missed them (multiply it times 2, that's $50). In 2016 I was diagnosed with CANCER and completely missed one appointment because it was the same day I got the diagnosis. I had to write a letter, as the doctor wouldn't consider dismissing the late/missed appointment charge until I put it all in writing. Today both of my kids had cleaning appointments, I thought we were 10 minutes early, but it turned out that, according to their records, we were arriving 15 minutes late (on the dot). We were turned away! Never mind that in the past, we have waited in that reception area for over 30 minutes for a cleaning! Standing there in the office I said okay, since this was an honest mistake, and given the fact we have been with the practice for so many years, could you at least forgive the 'late' charges that will accrue on the accounts. We were told to re-schedule and "write a letter to the doctor", so she could then determine whether she would dismiss the 'late' charges. I once again asked if I could at least speak with Dr. Olton, even if I would still be required to write the letter. The office manager (who hasn't been working in that office as long as we have been customers) just stood there and said that 'Dr. Olton was busy with a patient'. I said, that's fine we'll wait. The office manager then said, 'She's going on a break afterward, and won't be able to speak with you'. The office manager then repeated that writing a letter is their "office policy", and apparently the only method of communicating with Dr. Olton, even if WE have been her loyal customers for over 15 years!!! Never mind, that our own time was also wasted driving back and forth to the 'late' show. Not only that, but they couldn't even find my kids after-school appointments for another 7 months! I know dental practices can be rigid, but this is absolutely freaking ridiculous! DON'T GIVE WE CARE FOR KIDS YOUR BUSINESS!!! There's better out there! I transferred my kids' dental records to Pediatric Dentistry Limited. That practice could at least find two after-school appointments for my kids BEFORE next year!

As a parent, I would not recommend this place to any fellow parent. I was barely late and was told to reschedule my appointment and threatened to be charged a fee for no-show, after THEY refused to see my two kids. This is in addition to the inflated fees and services. It's a shame that a service that is supposed to be for kids be so disgustingly profit-oriented, materialistic, and insensitive to both the kids and their families.

I've been taking my children here for a couple years now and love it here. Staff is super friendly and approachable and have made all the diffrence in the world for my son to be able to brave thru a dental visit(something previously almost impossible). I recommend them to any parent i talk to and have gotten both my sister and sister in law to bring there children here. If you have a child who doesn't do well or cancels dental appointments for you on there own terms(lol) or if you have a child who does well at a dental appointment but feel like your not getting the care or attention they deserve elsewhere...bring them to we care for kids dental. 5*s.

This place is great! The doctors and staff truly care about the patients. I too was charged for a cancelled appointment due to my daughter being sick, but I appealed the charge as they explained I could with a doctors note and they removed the charge from my account! I wouldn't take my kids anywhere else.
