Dr. Alan Young is a native of Garner, Iowa. He attended the University of Iowa and received his BS degree majoring in Exercise Science, sub-specializing in exercise physiology with a chemistry minor. In 1995, Dr. Young obtained his DDS degree from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry and moved back to his hometown to begin his dental career.

In his 12 years at Garner, Dr. Young attended post-graduate continuing education courses on orthodontics (braces), oral surgery (wisdom teeth), periodontal surgery (gum surgery), endodontics (root canals) and implants. He uses these skills so that he can limit the number of out-of-office referrals. Most people like to go to a place where the doctor can do all their work.

In 2008, Dr. Young moved his family to Waverly to begin a solo practice. Being in a large dental practice back in Garner, the personal relationships were limited. Dr. Youngis making it a point that anyone who walks through his doors is not just a patient, but a person who he wants to get to know.

Dr. Young and his wife, Jody, have two daughters, Kelsey and Britney. He enjoys working with his hands in construction projects and cooking. As far as other interests, Dr. Young enjoys biking, golf, movies, going out with family/friends, and spending quality time with his family.

Tiffany grew up in Forest City, Iowa and attended North Iowa Area Community College where she received her AA Degree. When she passed her Dental Assisting boards, she began working around her hometown. Tiffany continued with her education and is now an Expanded Function Dental Assistant with certificates in Nitrous Oxide Monitoring, Dental Radiology, CPR, Infection Control and OSHA. When new job opportunities became available for both Tiffany and her husband, they relocated to Waverly, Iowa and Tiffany began working for Dr Alan Young.

Getting to know the patient is why Tiffany enjoys being a dental assistant. She enjoys working with all age groups and wants to make sure all their dental needs and wants are met with care and compassion. She continues to better herself by attending continuing education courses, not only in advanced dental techniques, but also on patient comfort.

Tiffany and her husband, Dave, reside in Waverly and have 3 children. She enjoys co-ed sand volleyball, home improvement projects, Iowa Hawkeye football games, and the outdoors. Above all, Tiffany loves spending time with her family and friends.

Lynn grew up in Lamont, Iowa and attended Kirkwood Community College, Dental Assisting program in 1999. Lynn has continued her education and is now an Expanded Function Dental Assistant with certificates in Nitrous Oxide Monitoring, Dental Radiology, CPR, Infection Control and OSHA. Lynn joined the Waverly Family Dentistry Team in February 2020.

Christy grew up in Fairbank, Iowa and graduated from Wapsie Valley High School. She then attended Hawkeye Community College and earned her Dental Assisting license in 2005. She worked as a Dental Assistant for almost 10 years before deciding to continue her education, and went back to Hawkeye Community College to earn her Associates of Applied Science Degree in Dental Hygiene. She is also certified to administer Nitrous Oxide and local anesthetic. Christy has been working at Waverly Family Dentistry since March 2018.

Christy enjoys meeting new people and connecting with them, all while improving their smile and oral health. Christy is continuing to build her knowledge of the dental field with continuing education classes.

Christy and her husband Aaron moved to Waverly in 2011 and really enjoy the small town community. They have 3 very active boys that keep them busy with football, soccer, boy scouts, and a various list of other activities. They love the outdoors and spending time on the water, boating and fishing. They like to travel any chance they get and spend most of their summers at their cabin on the Mississippi River.

Krista grew up in Cedar Falls, graduating from Cedar Falls High School. She attended Hawkeye Community College where she graduated from the Dental Assisting program in May 2000. After working for 5 years as a dental assistant, Krista went back to school and received her A.A.S. Degree in Dental Hygiene from Hawkeye Community College in May 2001. Besides all the duties of dental hygiene, Krista is also certified to administer nitrous oxide and local anesthesia.

Krista volunteers her time every September serving on dental mission trips to Belize. She enjoys being able to educate patients on the relationship between dental health and overall general well-being. Getting to know each patient individually and building a trusting relationship makes her a hygienist who really cares for you.

Heather grew up in Fort Madison Iowa, graduating from Fort Madison Senior High School. She attended Hawkeye Community College and then went on to the University of Northern Iowa. Heather has worked in the healthcare field since 1998. She was a billing coordinator and front office team leader prior to joining Waverly Family Dentistry in April 2010.

Heather enjoys all aspects of the dental field and the wide variety of responsibilities that her position entails. Above all she enjoys getting to know the patients and helping them in any way possible. Heather continues to educate herself every year by attending continuing education courses.

Heather and her husband, Dan, have two children. In the summer months she enjoys swimming, water skiing and participating in co-ed sand volleyball with the rest of the office and during the winter months she has fun snowmobiling with her husband and friends. Heather most treasures time spent with her children, family and friends.

Laura is a Waverly native, growing up and graduating from Waverly-Shell Rock High School. Laura went on to attend the University of Northern Iowa. She graduated in 2012 with a degree in textiles and apparel. After college she moved to the Newton area, where she worked at Cline Tool as an industrial distribution coordinator. Laura returned to Waverly and began working for Waverly Family Dentistry in 2019.

Outside of work, Laura enjoys spending time with family, especially her young nieces and nephew and working on sewing projects for herself and others. She likes to travel when possible and attending UNI athletic events, mostly mens basketball. And of course, spending time with friends.
