Access to oral health care has been a longstanding problem in our central Maine community. The ability to get quality regular oral health care is critical to maintain pain free teeth and a healthy smile. It is also a crucial factor in maintaining overall health. Poor oral health is associated with chronic medical problems including diabetes, heart disease, cancer, stroke, and pregnancy complications.

In 1999 the nonprofit Kennebec Valley Dental Coalition, a volunteer group of dental providers, medical providers, and community members was formed to explore ways to improve access to oral health services for all residents of central Maine. The Waterville Community Dental Center is the product of the work of the KVDC. Its history is outlined in this timeline:

2007-2009: WCDC responds to an unmet demand for services by adding three additional operatories to the four already in place. A second dentist and a third hygienist join the staff. With increased space and staffing, over 3,500 patients a year are seen.

2018-2019: Because of downtown redevelopment, WCDC must relocate from its original site of 18 years. With support of the local community, including foundation grants and individual donations, a new building is located, renovations are completed, existing equipment moved, and new equipment installed. In January 2019, WCDC begins to see patients in its new space at 2 Evergreen Drive in First Park. Two new operatories have been added to expand capacity.

Access to affordable oral health care is a critical resource in maintaining the health of our community. WCDC delivers a full range of oral health services including education, cleanings, oral examinations, extractions, fillings, crowns and other restorative care.

I'm not impressed. I had two fillings done and ever since I left this place I've been in constant pain. I've been back three times and they don't have a CLUE what is going on. I'm very upset that they keep sending me home like this.. I wish they lived in the pain I'm in so that way they would get to the bottom of this. So now I go for a second opinion in the mean time I'll live in pain till I can't take it no more.

They were absolutely wonderful with my 4 year old. She doesn't usually sit still at all and they got her to sit still great. They showed her the tools and made her feel comfortable. She enjoyed herself and had lots of fun. The way she talks about it it's hard to tell she went to the dentist.

Very friendly office and even when they are busy they seem to keep things moving along, which I really appreciate. I also like how they take the time to educate my daughter in a way she understands.

Always friendly staff. They have had to make accommodations etc since covid and it is hard to get in without a few months wait. However I think that is most Dr's and dentists right now so try to be patient and understanding. My kids enjoy going here and have been going here since we moved here 5 years ago.

They are very professional while making me feel at ease. I have suffered from depression and anxiety all my life. So I haven't taken the best care of my teeth and I'm ashamed of it but they were so kind and helpful that I now have hope that I can get my smile back. I would recommend Waterville Community Dental Center to anyone. They treated me like I was as important to them as their family is. They are absolutely amazing. I have nothing gratitude and love

Friendly staff and very welcoming and relaxing atmosphere. I almost fell asleep a couple of times. Bonus: The ones that contributed to the work on my teeth waited til I was numb before doing anything that required them to use a drill. Very happy with services.
