A native of the Pacific Northwest, Dr. Richard Washut grew up in Wenatchee before attending the University of Oregon. After earning his Bachelor of Science in Biology, he spent four years at the University of Washington School of Dentistry and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery. He moved to Selah 30 years ago to serve the patients of this community, and he cherishes the relationships established over the years.
Dr. Washuts commitment to his patients started long before he formally entered dentistry. As a second-generation dentist, he assisted his father in the office and saw the difference that quality dentistry made in their lives. That legacy continues today, and his greatest reward is still helping patients discover the benefits of lifetime dental wellness. As a lifetime learner, Dr. Washut is passionate about new technologies and materials that enhance the patient experience. He regularly interacts with other general dentists and specialists as a long-time member of the Yakima Valley Prosthodontic Study Club.
Dr. Washut and his wife, Ann Marie, have two sons. Dr. Kyle Washut joined him in the practice in 2017, and Andrew is working as an engineer here in the valley. He spent many hours coaching their football, basketball, and baseball teams as his sons grew up. Now he finds a little more time to enjoy the vast outdoors in the Yakima region. When Dr. Washut isnt caring for patients, you might find him hiking, mountain biking, snow skiing, or grilling in the backyard.
Dr. Kyle Washut brings a strong commitment to the Selah community and loves the opportunity to serve the patients of our region. After growing up in Selah, he focused the next eight years on his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the University of Washington. He spent the following year gaining valuable post-graduate experience managing complex dental needs in a General Practice Residency. Dr. Washut considers it a privilege to now serve patients with his father, carrying on a family legacy of compassionate care.
Dr. Washuts dedication to continual learning led him to enroll in advanced coursework at the Kois Center in Seattle. This ongoing, world-renowned curriculum ensures patients receive a thoughtful approach to phased dentistry that meets their goals. The Kois educational foundation blends with a shared philosophy of relationship-based healthcare established by his father over the last 30 years. Together theyre focused on reaching new levels of excellence for their patient family.
Working every week at the Union Gospel Mission dental clinic offers Dr. Washut an opportunity to help those in need. He finds that giving these patients a new smile and mentoring young dentists proves especially meaningful. When hes not in the office or engaged in volunteer work, Dr. Washut enjoys spending time with his wife, Marguerite. He also loves sports of all kinds, including football, golf, skiing, and mountain biking.

I always have a lot of fun seeing everyone there. Dr. Kyle has a wonderful team. They make the experience of going to the dentist enjoyable. And they've always done an excellent job, and my wife and I have gone there for a long time.

As someone who struggles with dental anxiety I have yet to find an office that is so gentle & calming during the whole experience. I have been going to Washut Family Dentistry for over 14 years. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive. They feel like family even though I only see them a few times a year. Dr. Washut has recently partnered with his son and they are both extremely professional and personable. The office is incredibly clean and welcoming.
