Dr. Walters is an experienced orthodontist with over 20 years of practice in the Greater Sacramento area. He earned his undergraduate and dental degrees from the University of Minnesota and served as a dentist in the U.S. Navy aboard an aircraft carrier. He received his orthodontic specialty training from the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Orthodontics, and a member of the American Association of Orthodontics. Dr. Walters stays current in orthodontic developments by attending and participating in numerous professional organizations. Dr. Walters is a Professor at the UOP Orthodontic residency program, and he also served many years on Kaiser Craniofacial Panel. In his free time, he enjoys flying his airplane, skiing and traveling the world.
I am actively involved in continuing education. I attend numerous meetings every year, which keeps me current and up to date with technology and information to provide my patients excellent care and shorter treatment times. I have a clinical faculty position with the Craniofacial Anomalies Clinic at the Lucile Packard Childrens Hospital, at Stanford University Medical Center. This allows me to stay current on the treatment of craniofacial anomalies and orthognathic surgical patients.
After 22 years in practice, I enjoy my profession more than ever! I love what I do because orthodontics allows me to interact with people, and it is so rewarding to create beautiful smiles for them. At the end of treatment, when I see a patients face light up at the sight of their new smile, it always makes my day!
My team and I have a great practice! We always take the time to get to know our patients, and treat each person as an individual with unique orthodontic needs. Behind our fun personalities, we focus and continually work on clinical excellence. The staff constantly strives for ways to improve efficiency and clinical excellence through continuing education and daily challenge games that challenge us to improve our clinical skills.
I am a native of Sacramento, and have lived here for over 30 years. My wife, Danae, and I are proud to raise our three beautiful daughters in this wonderful community. My family and I also have three cats and a two dogs, making our household busy, loud, and full of love!
In my spare time, I enjoy traveling and spending time with my family. I also have a musical hobby! I have been playing jazz guitar and saxophone for many years. I also like to keep myself in shape through cycling and ride many miles per week. I also participate in many group century rides, which are 100-mile rides!
As a part of our community, I am a member of the Cleft and Craniofacial Anomalies Team within the Department of Otolaryngology at the UC Davis Medical Center, School of Medicine. I am also part of the clinical faculty at the Craniofacial Anomalies Center at Lucile Packard Childrens Hospital, Stanford University Medical Center.
Melissa has been working with Dr Walters since she was just 18 years old! She is the most passionate about helping patients understand their orthodontic needs and creating a unique treatment plan specific for you! Outside of work Melissa loves being outdoors with her three daughters and watching baseball!
Tania's been In the dental field for about two and a half years, she's originally from San Jose California but raised In Sacramento. She chose the orthodontic field because she love to see how happy patients get with their new smile. On her free time she loves to explore nature with her boyfriend and enjoys trying new restaurants!
Ivan is originally from Mexico where he received his degree as a periodontist and recently relocated to California within the past year! His favorite part of the job is helping patients understand the importance of good dental hygiene and creating orthodontic appliances specfic to each patient! Holly is from originally from the Bay area, and is in the process of making Sacramento her new home! Holly has been a registered dental assistant since 1996, and has worked in the orthodontic field for over 15 years! Holly's favorite part of orthodontics is building new relationships with patients! She makes it a point to educate each patient about their oral health and hygiene with patients! On her spare time she enjoys spending time with her daughter!
