Dr. Stephen is the founding partner of the Caldwell Dimmitt Specialty Practice. His early vision of bringing advanced surgical treatment of periodontal and implant related problems to West Texas has developed into a multi-doctor practice offering a complete spectrum of Periodontal and Implant Surgical Specialty Care to El Paso. His dedication to the field of Periodontics and Implant Surgery has included daily private practice in surgical care, academic faculty positions, indigent medical outreaches, and research related activities. These contributions were recognized by his peers in 2010 when he was the recipient of the Texas Academy of General Dentistry's prestigious Texas Dentist of the Year award.

Dr. Caldwell is a native El Pasoan who graduated from the University of Texas at El Paso before attending dental school at the University of Texas Dental Branch at Houston. After practicing general dentistry for a short time in El Paso, he returned to the University of Texas Health Science Center to complete a residency in Periodontal Surgery. At the completion of his advanced training in surgery, Dr. Caldwell and his wife returned to El Paso to open a surgical practice limited to Periodontal Surgery.

Dr. Caldwell and his wife Lilly have four children who were raised in El Paso. His son Greg joined our practice in 2014 after completing his residency in Periodontal and Implant Surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. The extended Caldwell family have been residents of El Paso since 1942 and they continue to appreciate the friends, family, and patients that they have grown to love over this extended period of time.

Dr. Caldwell originally limited his practice to Periodontal Surgery, but he returned to school in 1998 to pursue his interest in 'Implant Surgery'. He started his expanded studies in implant surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio where he commuted for 12 months, attending their 'Preceptorship in Implant Surgery'. He followed that program with an extended commute to Detroit, Michigan, where he completed the 'Implant Surgery and Prosthetic Implant Programs' at the Misch International Implant Institute. At the completion of the educational program at the Misch Institute, Dr. Caldwell was invited to return to Detroit over the next year for a continued 'Fellowship' before being asked to join the Surgical Faculty of the Institute in 2001. He has continued to travel to Orlando, Las Vegas, and Philadelphia where he and the Misch Faculty train dentists and specialists in the field of Advanced Implant Surgery. Dr. Caldwell maintained a faculty position at the Kornberg School of Dentistry at Temple University in Philadelphia through 2016 where he served as an adjunct assistant clinical professor in the department of Periodontics and Implant Surgery.

Dr. Caldwell is aDiplomate of the American Board of Implantology/Implant Dentistry and a Diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantology and Implant Dentistry. He has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the American Board of Implantology and as a Board Examiner for the board examination process. This extended experience in the academic aspects of implant surgery has allowed Dr. Caldwell to not only keep up to date in the ever changing field of implant surgery, but has also helped him bring many of these new developments to the West Texas area for treatment of dental patients in our area.

Dr. Caldwell has published and presented various articles related to Periodontics and Implant Reconstructive Bone Grafting. His most recent and involved publication involves his contribution to the newly published textbook Avoiding Complications in Implant Dentistry. This is the new comprehensive textbook by Dr. Carl Misch and Randall Resnik. Dr. Caldwell was asked to write the Bone Grafting Chapter of the textbook detailing the myriad of complications related to Bone Grafting in Implant Surgical Treatment. This project is being followed with a new edition of Misch's Contemporary Implant Dentistry where Dr. Caldwell is writing the Bone Grafting section of the new textbook. Dr. Resnik and Dr. Caldwell recently presented a two-day seminar in Las Vegas where the new textbook findings were summarized.

Dr. Caldwell is the founder of 'El Paso Del Norte Seattle Study Club', a local professional study club for dentists who are involved in advanced continuing education. Dr. Caldwell and his Co-director, Dr. John Purdy have directed a monthly educational program for over 30 dentists in a 'year-round program' since 2005, exploring advancements in the field of dentistry and in the pursuit of excellence in the practice of dentistry in the El Paso area. This dedicated study program for our local dentists continues to assure local patients that their own dentist is up to date with changes and advancements in dentistry and that our local dentists are motivated to provide the best care possible to their patients.

Dr. Caldwell has been active in the profession of dentistry in El Paso, Mexico, and on a state wide basis since he started practice. He has served as the President of the El Paso District Dental Society and in various roles in the Texas Dental Association. Dr. Caldwell and his family have not only been active in 'Outreach' programs in the border area, but he and Lilly have also participated in the 'Christian Hands in Action' ministry where teams provide medical, dental, and eye care to families in the distant pueblas of Northern Mexico. The blending of the border cultures and communities has provided the Caldwell family the opportunity to not only share the joys of our international ties, but it has also provided the family with the opportunity to understand the trials and tribulations that are experienced by needy people on both sides of the border.

Dr. Caldwell spends his free time enjoying outdoor activities in the southwest area where he enjoys fly fishing, snow skiing, wakeboarding, golf, camping, and backpacking. His civic involvement has included service in Boy Scouting where he and his boys were active in Troop 59. He served on the Yucca Council Eagle Scout Board of Review and was active in the local area Order of Arrow activities during those years of scouting. He has served on the St. Clements Parish School Board of Directors and in faculty positions with the El Paso Community College Dental Assisting and Dental Hygiene programs. Dr. Caldwell is a church Lector and is active the church's Men's ACTS retreat programs where he has been a retreat staff member. He has recently served as a Core Team Member of the church's This Man is You men's spiritual series.

Dr. Caldwell received his undergraduate training at Texas A&M University and graduated with a Bachelor of Environmental Design from the College of Architecture with cum laude honors. Heobtained his dental education at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio Dental School and received a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. After four years of dental school, Dr. Caldwell decided to pursue a residency in periodontics and was accepted into one of the top-ranked periodontal programs in the nation, The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio Graduate Periodontics Program. During his three-year residency, he obtained formal training in periodontology, implantology and moderate IV conscious sedation. Dr. Dimmitt was born in Quincy, Illinois, across the Mississippi River from his parent 's hometown of Canton, Missouri.He was Valedictorian of his high school class, and graduated from Culver-Stockton College. After making the Dean 's List every year at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry, Dr. Dimmitt received his DDS degree, and was awarded the American Academy of Periodontology 's 'Annual Student Award' at graduation.He was accepted directly into U.M.K.C. 's Graduate Periodontics Program where he earned his Certificate in Graduate Periodontics, and went on to enjoy 20 years of private practice limited to Periodontics and Oral Implants in Springfield, Missouri. During this time, Dr. Dimmitt was involved in many community service activities, such as serving on the Mayors Select Committee and on the Board of Springfield Community Hospital. He was also honored as the President of the Missouri Society of Periodontists, as well as serving as State Chairman on insurance affairs for the American Academy of Periodontology.

Dr. Dimmitt completed the Misch International Implant Institute's Surgical Residency in Dearborn, Michigan in 1991, their Prosthetic Training Program in 1994, and was awarded Fellowship status at the Institute.He joined the University of Texas Health Science Center-Houston Dental Branch as Clinical Director of Graduate Periodontics in 1996, and was appointed by the Dean as Director oftheUniversitysImplantInstitute.Because of Dr. Dimmitt's extensive background in IV conscious sedation, instruction of post-doctoral Periodontics Residents in those techniques was also one of his areas of responsibility. In 1997, Dr. Dimmitt was recruited by the United Arab Emirates' Ministry of Health as the Director of Dental Services from January 1998 through December 2000.He was appointed to their National Licensure Board, and named Chairman of their National Implant Credentials Committee. After leaving the Mideast, Dr. Dimmitt joined Dr. Mark Setter's practice in Port Huron, Michigan, and the Misch International Implant Institute's Surgical Faculty in 2002. While in Port Huron Dr. Dimmitt was President of the Thumb District Dental Society.

Dr. Dimmitt holds a Mastership from the Misch International Implant Institute, and is a Diplomate of the Academy of Osseointegration and the International Congress of Implantologists.He remains on the Surgical Faculty of the Misch Institute, and at the Kornberg School of Dentistry in Philadelphia. Dr. Dimmitt's association with the Misch Institute also provided him the unexpected pleasure of close friendship with Dr. Caldwell, and laid the groundwork for joining the Caldwell dental practice in July of 2009.

Dr. Dimmitt and his wife, Beverly, have travelled extensively, lived abroad, and enjoy cultural diversity and all it has to offer.They also enjoy doing things together like golfing, swimming, and riding bikes in the beautiful El Paso sunshine.

Senior Surgical Assistant Ana is a native El Pasoan, and graduated from El Paso Community College in May of 2000. She passed the examination process to be a Certified Dental Assistant in March of 1999 and is a Registered Dental Assistant with the State of Texas.

Ana started with this office in January of 2000, and is Dr. Caldwell's right hand manor should we say, woman, in the surgical suite. This job is a natural fit for her because she enjoys dental assisting, and finds fulfillment in making sure his surgeries run smoothly and with a minimum of stress for all concerned.

Ana also finds great pleasure in time spent with her husband, Peter Uribarri, and their three children. Nothing is more relaxing to Ana than simply enjoying their company at the local park or watching movies.

Surgical Assistant Eunice was born in Chihuahua City, Mexico, and graduated from Presidio High School. She has work experience in endodontics, pedodontics, and general dentistry. Fortunately for us, her life's journey brought her to Dr. Caldwell's office in August of 2008.

Eunice graduated from El Paso Community College in 2009, and became a Certified Dental Assistant in May of that same year. She completed her registration with the State of Texas in April, 2010. She married Ruben Morales in 2009, and both are active members of their church. She enjoys her role in the Music Ministry there; especially Interpretive Dance. She also enjoys playing sports, reading, travel, and spending time with family and friends.

Eunice says that her favorite aspect of working at the Caldwell & Dimmitt practice is being a part of the implant surgical team. Her love of dentistry has planted a seed in her heart to one day be a dental hygienistand working with the young people of her church has stirred a desire to one day teach at the high school level. For anyone who knows her, it's not difficult to imagine Eunice accomplishing both!

Surgical Assistant & IT Technician James is definitely one of those people who sees the big pictureno matter what he's involved in at the momentwhether it's the surgical theatre or fixing a glitch in our office computer set up. He has a genuine desire to help at anyone's point of need, and a killer smile to make it all the more enjoyable for the person being rescued.

James was born in Incheon, South Korea, and brought up in Rockville, Maryland. He began working for Dr. Caldwell in August of 2008. He graduated from El Paso Community College in 2009, and plans to graduate from the University of Texas at El Paso with a degree in Microbiology.

James has passed the examination process to be a Certified Dental Assistant and he is also a Registered Dental Assistant in Texas. His earlier training gained him certification as a Microsoft Computer Technician and as a Cisco Certified Network Associate (computer savvy). He also likes working on cars, motorcycles, or electronic gadgets like computers. His favorite pass time at the office is upgrading our office technology set up, or assisting in implant surgery.

Surgical Assistant Yolie is the newest addition to the Caldwell & Dimmitt Surgical Staff (March, 2011); another native El Pasoan. She is a graduate of the El Paso Community College and the Career Center of Texas at El Paso, and, as a result of that program, she received her certification as a Registered Dental Assistant.

Yolie and her husband, Gilbert, have two sons: Matthew and Andrewand Yolie enjoys her involvement with them in Cub Scouts, and cheering them on in school sports. The entire family enjoys the great outdoors while camping out and hiking together.

Jason Gales was born and raised in Wichita, Kansas. He graduated from Wichita High School North in 1988, and proceeded to attend Wichita State University. Mr. Gales graduated from Wichita State University in 1993 with his Bachelors of Science in Health Care Administration. During his last year at Wichita State University he completed a practicum at Via Christi Hospital's St. Joseph Campus. It was there he decided to change his focus from Health Care Administration to clinical practice.

Mr. Gales then enrolled at Kansas Newman University where he graduated in 1997 with an Associate in Science in Nursing. He worked at two hospitals in Wichita, Kansas, with a focus in ICU nursing. He provided bedside care in Surgical Intensive Care Units, and Cardiovascular Intensive Care Units.

In 2001 Mr. Gales was accepted at Texas Wesleyan University School of Nurse Anesthesia in Fort Worth, Texas. He graduated in 2003 from Texas Wesleyan University with a Master's of Science in Nurse Anesthesia, after completing his residency at Via Christi Hospital-St. Joseph Campus. Mr. Gales then continued working with Kansas Professional Anesthesia and Pain Management Services until August 2004.

In September of 2004, Mr. Gales and his family moved to El Paso, Texas where he took a position as a staff anesthetist at Providence Memorial Hospital. In 2007, Mr. Gales started providing anesthesia services at Surgical Center of El Paso, as well as staying credentialed at many of the health care facilities throughout El Paso.

Mr. Gales' clinical interests include pediatric, obstetrical, outpatient, and office-based anesthesia. He became affiliated with Dr. Caldwell in 2009, and began to provide office-based sedation for Dr. Caldwell's more complex cases.
