I have two uncles who are dentists so I was exposed to the profession rather early. I really enjoy being able to help individuals and dentistry often allows you to do so relatively quickly. I have an easy going personality, as well as having had a lot of dental work as a child makes me empathetic toward the patient situation.
Being able to help people is the main reason I enjoy being a dentist. Many individuals have had a bad visit at some point in the past and this often keeps them from visiting the dentist for many reasons. Although this can pose a challenge at first, I take pride in making my patients feel as comfortable and as in control as possible. The greatest compliment is patients telling me that they no longer have anxiety about visiting the dentist
Always trying to be the best at what I do is the main thing that keeps me motivated. Knowing that someones oral health is my responsibility keeps me interested in refining techniques and staying up to date with the latest technology in order to provide the absolute best treatment for my patients
Most of my time spent outside of the office is following my 1 1/2 year old dog, Kevin, around and doing my best to keep him out of too much trouble, I also like to work out and when weather permits be outside. I especially enjoy golfing and try to get out on the course as much as possible. For as much as I play and enjoy the game, Id like to eventually have a round where I dont top a ball off the tee. I actually grew up on a smaller golf course and we would always find golf balls in our back yard. This came in very handy replacing golf balls that I tend to lose often.
I love the Husker football team and Creighton basketball team. I went to Creighton however, where there was obviously no football team so I feel as if Im justified in being what some may refer to as a Jaysker. I also grew up loving the Seattle Mariners, however, they have continued to break my heart for as long as I can remember
My parents. I would argue with anyone that I have the best Mom and Dad in the whole world. If it wasnt for their hard work and sacrifices, I would have never been able to achieve the goals I have in my life

I highly recommend Walnut Family Dentistry! I have never had a good experience with a dentist until now. I actually enjoy coming here. Dr Slater is very gentle and thorough and I absolutely love his staff. It's been a life changing experience because I thought what I needed was not attainable. I wish I would have started coming here sooner!

The staff was very friendly. They made sure I knew approximately what I would pay out of pocket and made sure I was comfortable during my procedure. I also really appreciate that they don't try to 'up sell' unnecessary procedures. In fact, after I had a filling taken care of that was not as extensive as originally thought, I was told I would be credited money back. Glad I found Walnut Family Dentistry and Dr. Slater.

No complaints, very efficient care. Asked me if there was anything bothering me/wanted fixed. Cared about what I had to say. Staff was very nice, hard to come by nowadays. Will be keeping this dentist office!!

Great dentist & staff! Met new hygienist, Sonia, today & she was very thorough but gentle with cleaning & examining my teeth. Dr. Slater was great, as always. He doesn't suggest unnecessary dental work!

Appointment to have a crown placed. 1st visit to remove bad tooth and replace with temporary crown was seamless. 2nd appointment schedule approximately 2 weeks later to have permanent crown installed. Crown sizing was pretty good. Dr. Slater had to smooth off the adjacent tooth to keep the lower tooth from hitting the top tooth. Dr. Slater meticulously worked 1.5 hours on the tooth until it fit. He informed me to return to his office if I ever had any problems with the tooth - no charge. Exceptionally professional Dentist and staff.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Dr Slader is the most caring dentist that I have gone to. The girl that cleans you teeth make you feel comfortable. Taylor in the front office is very heipful.

My initial visit upon moving to area. Dr. Slater and entire staff were welcoming and competent. I brought existing dental concerns which, I believe, were thoroughly addressed. My husband and I are well pleased and recommend Dr. Slater.

Dr Mike and the girls were great! They made sure I was comfortable before doing the work I needed and then when they started he went slow to be gentle rather than fast and risk pain. Which I loved! I'd rather it take a little longe r to make sure it goes smoothly! I just started coming here and have already referred a couple people and will continue to do so! The whole team is great!!!! Thank you Dr Mike and ladies!!!! Highly highly recommend them!

The place is clean and very professional. No issues with any staff at all. They are extra good at preventative ideas. Telling me about water pick was great idea. Teeth never looked better.
