Dr. Leesa Miyasato is a Big Island native. She was born and raised in Kona and grew up picking coffee on her grandparents coffee farm. Dr. Miyasato has been creating beautiful, healthy smiles since 1985.
A graduate of the University of Washington in Seattle Washington, Dr. Miyasato also attended the Universitys Dental School where she graduated with honors. She went on to complete a two-year general practice residency at Wake Forest Universitys Bowman Gray School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. After her residency, she moved to San Diego, California, where she associated with several general practices and a pediatric dental office. The lure of returning home to Hawaii was strong, and before finally settling on the Big Island, Dr. Miyasato practiced in Honolulu and Kailua, Oahu.
Dr. Miyasato is a member of various dental organizations including the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentists, Academy of General Dentistry, and the American Dental Association. Dr. Miyasato believes strongly in continuing education and takes a multitude of classes year round. She also belongs to the Seattle Study Club and the Spear Education Study Club.
A volunteer for many years, Dr. Miyasato has given her time to the Senior Health Fair of North Hawaii, Girls Exploring Math and Science program as a mentor to young girls interested in careers involving Math and Science, preschool and elementary dental education, high school career day speaker, as well as a dental/medical mission to Honduras, Central America.
One of Dr. Miyasatos passions is travel. She and her husband love traveling to different countries, learning their history and enjoying the different cultures. Her family includes two dogs and two lovely adult daughters.
Paula was born and raised in North Kohala. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Allied Health from Azusa Pacific University, she returned home to the Big Island. She has been with Waimea Smiles since 2001.
Heather was born and raised on Maui until she moved to the Big Island in 1997 then to San Diego in 2016, where she became a registered dental assistant and later transitioned to the front office. She loves dentistry, watching doctors work, and getting to know her patients. She recently moved back to the Big Island in 2022 to settle down and be closer to her family.
Originally from Michigan, Tiffany has lived on the Big Island since 2007. In her work as a hygienist, she loves independent and self-motivated learning. When shes not at work, she enjoys hunting, fishing, and the occasional hike with her family of eight.
You might be surprised to learn: Skippy lived in Alaska and worked at Denali National Park as a sled dog ranger and also worked as a sled dog handler and musher for Iditarod Champion Libby Riddles, the first woman to win the race.
Sasha graduated from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine with a baccalaureate of Dental Hygiene. She loves to travel with friends and snorkel. Her favorite things to watch are baseball, boxing, Formula 1 racing, and Korean dramas.
Originally from Massachusetts, Gladys has lived on the Big Island since 2020. Shes very grateful to be starting her career in the dental field with Dr. Miyasato. As a dental assistant, Gladys loves to provide care to all. The best part of working as a dental assistant is seeing thesmiles and rising self confidence in our patients as they see the results of the care provided for them.
You might be surprised to learn: Gladys came to the Big Island as a Christian Missionary. After traveling the states and the world, her heart was set on Hawaii. She has rooted herself in the community and local church as a worship leader and various other ministries.
Danori has been working with Dr. Miyasato since 2006. She enjoys giving patients the utmost care, educating them about their treatment, and ensuring they leave with a smile on their face. She enjoys keeping up with the latest in dentistry and technology to serve our patients.
