Champaign-Urbana Public Health District works in a systematic way to address public health emergencies within Champaign County utilizing the Incident Command System (ICS). As the Emergency Support Function(ESF) #8 lead for Champaign County, the Champaign-Urbana Public Health District works closely with local, state and federal partners to restore communities to pre-incident conditions and to lessen the effects of public health emergencies, whether they be natural, technical or man-made.

The list of services goes on and on. Each of the Health District divisions - Administration; Community Health Nursing & Clinical Services; Community Health Surveillance, Planning & Education; Dental Health; Environmental Health; Family Health; and HIV/STD/TB Prevention & Management - serves a unique public health function. All programs within these divisions are designed to address health priorities in the Champaign-Urbana community.

We have a contractual relationship with the Champaign County Public Health Department Board of Health, which provides funding to support services to ensure food and water protection, safe sewage, and investigation and mitigation of communicable diseases to county residents outside Champaign and Urbana.
