My greatest passion is being able to help people. I attended a Jesuit middle and high school, where our motto was, Of Service to Others. This really hit home with me and has guided my life, leading me to the health field.
It was not until the summer after high school graduation that I realized I would become an orthodontist. That summer I went to visit my uncle, who is an orthodontist, and shadowed him in his practice. I loved seeing the relationships he created, and the experience and care he gave to each of his patients. That experience awoke the spark to follow in his footsteps, to provide the best experience and quality care possible, while forging real and lasting connections with patients and their families.
I grew up in Guaynabo, Metropolitan San Juan-area in Puerto Rico, and attended the University of Puerto Rico where I received my Bachelor of Science in Biology. Remaining at the University, in the School of Dental Medicine, I then obtained my Doctorate of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) in 2008.
After dental school, I completed a one-year General Practice Residency at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Following my residency, I returned to the University of Puerto Rico School of Dentistry in 2010, completing my orthodontic residency and receiving my Master of Science in Dentistry (MSD) in 2013.
The orthodontic specialty is always advancing, with research leading to new knowledge, techniques, and technologies. I regularly participate in continuing education to stay up-to-date on the latest breakthroughs and most effective innovations. This allows me to bring the most advanced diagnosis, treatment, and technology to my patients.
I met my wife, Dr. Luz Desiree Visbal, in dental school. We have been together for 16 years and married for 13. She is an Endodontist and works in Citrus Park Endodontics in South Tampa and the Carrollwood area.
We have two adorable kids. Rudy Matthew is 8, very caring and loves animals, basketball, swimming, and video games. And sweet Marina, who is 6 and enjoys reading, gymnastics, cheer, arts and crafts, and hugging mom and dad as much as possible!
Our family enjoys our time together: traveling, going to the beach, boating, fishing, and supporting one another. The kids have many extracurricular interests, including basketball, soccer, and gymnastics, which keep us busy.

Favorite thing about orthodontics: I like that each patient is different and presents with individual orthodontic needs. We see people of all ages and with different life experiences. Each brings their unique stories, energy, and excitement to the office, which means every day is different. It is rewarding to create beautiful smiles for such wonderful people!
Favorite thing about Dr. Wagner: He is a great team leader who truly cares for his staff and patients. He does not allow his intelligence and knowledge to overwhelm people; he takes his time to explain his diagnosis and treatment plan so patients/parents can understand. His sense of humor and down-to-earth personality give the office a relaxed and positive atmosphere.
Duties: Assisting Dr. Wagner with procedures, taking patient X-rays, changing out archwires, giving oral hygiene instructions, and, most importantly, making the patients feel as comfortable as possible.
Favorite thing about orthodontics: I like seeing how our patients change during treatment, becoming happier and more confident with their appearance. They are always thrilled with their new smile and cant wait to show it to the world!

Dr. Wagner and our team members understand that each patient, and their family, has specific expectations and concerns. While we give everyone an exceptional experience and results, how we get to that radiant finished smile varies from person to person.
Our practice offers numerous advanced, proven treatments that gently shift teeth into proper position. This allows Dr. Wagner to employ different techniques for each patient, tailoring their treatment to address their clinical and personal needs!
At your first visit, which is free of charge, Dr. Wagner will sit and talk with you. He wants to understand what you expect from treatment, as well as financial, timeliness, and other considerations. Following the conversation and initial exam, he will design a treatment plan specifically for you. He considers what will give you a lasting improvement in oral health/function, along with ensuring treatment is efficient and comfortable.
Then Dr. Wagner will walk you through the proposal, explaining what he recommends, and why. He will also review other treatment options, and he and the team will present financials, too. Well answer all questions to your satisfaction, and then you decide how and when to proceed.

Dr. Wagner is very knowledgeable and friendly and is patient and informative while answering questions. The same can be said for his staff who share the same traits and are so welcoming and helpful. Five stars doesn't represent the amount of praise Dr Wagner or his team deserve.

I am FIFTY FIVE years new and getting braces back on for the second time. He tells me.. 12-18 months but we know how that goes... (always longer). I have had them on for almost 3 months and they have moved in place so perfectly already!! I am super super pleased and I love the connection he has with us as patients. his team is just as amazing and connected as well. They always say hi to you by name . Seriously far beyond the best experience that I have had with an Orthodontist. To include my kids orthodontists years ago!

Wagner Orthodontics is the best practice! The staff are great! Amy is very sweet and welcoming at the front desk and Shelley and Krissy are amazing assistants! My 3 boys and I have been patients of Dr. Wagner and Dr. Duryea for 26 years. They have given us all beautiful smiles. Their staff are the most courteous and kind. They always work around our busy schedules to fit us in with our appointments. We were sorry to see Dr. Duryea retire bur our family thinks he picked an awesome replacement to take care of us Dr. Wagner. Thank you all!! Your the best!!

When I found out Dr. Duryea was retiring I knew he would only accept the best of the best to take over his practice. I can say with full confidence Dr. Wagner has been outstanding! Not to mention his staff is always very warm and friendly. I live in Tampa and drive to Palm Harbor because of how this office is ran. Very professional, organized and clean. I am without a doubt recommending any family/friends I know that need orthodontic care to Dr. Wagner!

Our family have been patients of Dr. Duryea's since 1995 when I had braces. Now 3 boys later we are on our last set of braces. We drive from New Port Richey because we think Dr. Duryea is the best and so is his staff. We are on the last phase of braces with our youngest son and wish Dr. Duryea well with retirement and look forward to working with Dr. Wagner to finish up with our boy. We know and trust Dr. Duryea that he would only choose the best to take over his orthodontic family.
