Dr. Joseph Merritt grew up and currently resides in Roswell, Ga., and he is a proud alumnus of Roswell High School. After graduating from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, he obtained his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from the University of Louisville, School of Dentistry.
The driving force of Dr. Merritts career is his calling to serve others locally and in communities with limited access to dental care. He has volunteered on multiple dental mission trips to Nicaragua and Jamaica. Dr. Merritt also volunteered at a Free Day of Dentistry several years in a row in Savannah, Ga., where he started his career in dentistry.
Dr. Merritt specializes in restorative and cosmetic dental procedures. He is also a certified Invisalign provider. As a commitment to his patients and his profession, Dr. Merritt is dedicated to consistently immersing himself in continued education. He has accumulated hundreds of hours of CE (and counting) by being an active member of a Spear Study Club, regularly attending the Thomas P. Hinman Dental Society Meeting, and pursuing specialized courses to expand his skillset.
Outside of the office, Dr. Merritt enjoys staying active, traveling, spending quality time with family and friends, and rooting for the Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Falcons...no matter how heartbreaking that may be!

Dr. Vlass has been my dentist since 1983. I have been very pleased with the professional service I have received. He has the latest in technology and is very knowledgeable about the modern advances in dentistry. Several years ago, I asked him about veneers for my front teeth. I had "Bugs Bunny" front-teeth which had bothered me since high school. He explained the whole process to me and what I could expect. I made the decision to get the veneers and I am very happy with that decision. His staff is superb. They are wonderful, friendly and very professional.

The BEST dental practice Inknow and I have seen many in my lifetime! An absolutely great experience, whether it is a cleaning by Amanda or dental,work by Dr. Vlass. The atmosphere is so relaxing and comforting, the staff is ALWAYS friendly and welcoming. All questions are answered and no one is ever in a rush. One very big plus is also that appointments are kept, I never had to wait past the scheduled time. This is simply the perfect dental experience.

When my former dentist retired, I tried several dentists. Never happy with them. So I called a very well respected retired dentist friend, Dr Lawson BROADRICK. I asked him who he would go to if he lived in Roswell area. He said Hands down, he TRUSTED Barry Vlass and knew his work was impeccable. I went to Dr Vlass and never looked back. Excellent experience in every way!

I've been seeing Dr. Vlass for 20+ years. He always gives sound advice, does top quality work, and there are no pushy sales tactics. His staff is the kindest around and Amanda is the best hygienist I've had for regular cleanings. Do yourself and your family a favor and start seeing Dr. Vlass.

I just recently moved to the area and had a lot of discomfort and pain. Kim got me set with an appointment for the very next morning with Dr. Merritt! After taking an x-ray and examining the situation it was determined I needed a root canal that was done immediately! He did a fantastic job and even followed up that evening to make sure I was doing okay after the procedure! Everyone I encountered at the office was friendly and professional from start to finish. I would recommend them to anyone who needs a dentist no matter what their needs might be!

Simply the very best Dentist and staff in the State. They are caring concerned and patient oriented. I have a very difficult time going to the Dentist. I have been treated by Dr. Vlass and his staff for many years, they have always been understanding, kind and very compassionate. My hygienist Amanda is the best! I have seen Dr. Merrit a few times and I am sure he is a great dentist as well!
