I began my dental career in Oklahoma City, where I received my Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) with honors from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. While pursuing my DDS, I volunteered my time with the Good Sheppard Mission, where I provided dental care for less fortunate families. Prior to pursuing my dental degree, I received a Ph.D.in the field of genetics. I published several research papers in peer-reviewed journals and received the Young Scientist Award for my doctoral thesis.
I continued my academic pursuit of excellence by specializing in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. I became board certified in 2006 and am now a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. While in specialty training, I received the Best Scientific Presentation Award for my research in genetic disorders that relateto tooth and facial disorders.
Staying on the leading edge of orthodontics has always been a high priority. I participate in several study clubs, continuing education courses, and workshops, and I attend national dental meetings. In addition to my participation in these dental organizations, my dedication to community service includes being a big sister to the kids who are enrolled in Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Texas-San Antonio. I have also started a charity to provide free orthodontic treatment to one child each year from this organization (San Antonio Express News), and have organized several dental camps to increase awareness about orthodontics. I am often invited by the elementary, middle, and high schools of San Antonio to give presentations on the career day and health day to educate children and promote oral health.
I currently reside in San Antonio with my wonderful husband of more than 25 years, C.S. Reddy Meka, our two lovely sons Vinay and Karthik (where the name VK Orthodontics comes from) and our dog Julia. I enjoy tennis, basketball, and music in my spare time.
We want everyone who visits VK Orthodontics to feel relaxed, from the moment they step through our door to when they head home. We provide complimentary refreshments in our waiting area, and families are welcome to join our patients in the treatment area for their comfort. Each person who comes to our office can look forward to a pleasant experience that sets a new standard for orthodontic care.
Dr. Chary-Reddy believes in offering her patients personalized quality care options for their care. Our practice is a certified provider of such advanced products as Invisalign and Damon Smile braces for the best results and most comfortable corrective process. Our staff works individually with each patient to find a care plan that meets their goals and expectations.
We also believe in monitoring younger patients and only starting treatment at the proper time for each individuals dentition and growth pattern. This may include early intervention when necessary or comprehensive treatment.
Our very own VK Smile Train program provides free orthodontic care for children who enroll in the Big Brother Big Sister Organization. Moreover, we participate in various school career days to educate students about opportunities in the field of dentistry and orthodontics.
