I came in for 2 bottom wisdom teeth extractions. One side impacted the other sticking out. I was nervous for the surgery but was calmed by the nurses. I go under everything seems fine. Was told everything was pretty normal that one side was a bit stubborn but I'll be fine and sore for a few days. 2 hours after the surgery I have the worst pain of my life. The pain medication prescribed to me couldn't even scratch the pain I was experiencing (low dose Vicodin). Day 2, swelling and bruising so bad I had a black eye and bruising down my neck. I needed to order a pain prescription through my dentist to get actually get relief. The oral surgeon highly misjudged the pain I would be in. Day 4, been following the post surgery procedures to the book (icing is key) yet haven't experienced much pain reduction or swelling go down, all the wild I can hardly eat soft foods it hurts so much to eat. I express my story because I feel as though for the immense money paid for this procedure the doctors expertise should have been applied more and I can comfortably say I would have chosen a different oral surgeon had I known how bad this post op would be/ how I was treated after surgery. I was not a normal case, I had loose sutures, and enormous cut marks in my gums. I never got a dry socket yet experienced 8-9/10 pain for 5 days straight. This is my first review ever and I wouldn't write it unless I found it important. This experience could have been handled much better than it was. I felt like an informal patient signing all sorts of papers before the surgery, was rushed through any questions and just never really gained any comfort being in their office chair. I would not recommend. I had wished they treated me personally instead of an appointment they needed to finish up quick during the day. I had to make emergency accommodations with other dentists to check on my site wounds and assist in healing them.
