As a Clinton County native, Dr. Alexa Vitek-Hitchcock grew up in St. Johns, Michigan, and is a proud graduate of St. Johns High School. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Sciences from Grand Valley State University and a Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree from the University Of Detroit Mercy School Of Dentistry.
Dr. Vitek-Hitchcock started our general dental practice in DeWitt from scratch in the summer of 2007. She believes in preventive dentistry and that dental health impacts overall health. She enjoys working with patients of all ages to achieve optimal oral health. Our practice begins seeing patients starting at the age of 9 months.
Working with children and their families to create a positive dental experience is a top priority to Dr. Alexa and she wants our office to be warm and welcoming to patients of all ages. She would love for you and your family to become patients of our patient family!
Outside of the office, Dr. Alexa enjoys spending time with her family and friends, especially her niece Alivia and nephew Hyde, traveling, working out, and being involved in organized dentistry leadership positions. She and her husband Michael call DeWitt home.
Dr. Vitek-Hitchcock is a member of Central District Dental Association, Michigan Dental Association, American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, American College of Dentists, International College of Dentists, Pierre Fauchard Academy, and Delta Sigma Delta Professional Dental Fraternity. Dr. Vitek-Hitchcock has a zest for organized dentistry and truly enjoys volunteering her time in leadership activities.
She served as the chairperson of the Michigan Dental Association's Committee on Membership for 6 years and is the past president of the Central District Dental Society. Currently, Dr. Alexa has been elected to serve a 4-year term to represent the dentists of Michigan and Wisconsin on the American Dental Associations Council on Membership.
From 2007-2010, Dr. Vitek- Hitchcock served as a delegate to the Michigan Dental Association's House of Delegates. Dr. Vitek-Hitchcock was inducted in April of 2009 into the Pierre Fauchard Academy (PFA), whose focus is on professionalism, integrity, and ethics while supporting and honoring dentists for their distinguished work, research, contributions, and public service.
Since 2012, she has been selected to represent Michigan dentists as a delegate to the American Dental Association's House of Delegates and has chaired the ADA's 9th District Reference Committee on Membership.
In October of 2012, Dr. Vitek-Hitchcock was selected to be inducted as a fellow of the prestigious American College of Dentists (ACD). As inducted fellows of the oldest major honorary organization for dentists, members of the American College of Dentists must have exemplified ethical excellence through outstanding leadership and exceptional contributions to dentistry and society.
