Dr. Kung grew up in Plano, and as such hes excited to be able to give back to his community in more ways than one. He is pleased to work with Plano Senior High School, which is located near our dental office. Dr. Kung enjoys dental mission trips where dental care is provided to people in cities in countries with limited access to care. He also enjoys volunteering with the Texas Mission of Mercy (TMOM), a mobile dental clinic that travels around the state to provide free basic dental care to those who need it. Recently, our team at Vitality Dental Plano has also had the opportunity to work with TMOM in order to help provide quality care to the larger community.
I have always loved working with my hands and knew I wanted my work to positively impact people. Dentistry is the perfect intersection of my interests. I grew up very self-conscious about my smile. I never smiled showing my teeth. I got orthognathic (corrective jaw) surgery and braces during dental school to fix my bite, so I personally understand the fear of dental procedures, but also the power that transforming the smile can have on someones life.
After graduating UCLA, I was a dental assistant and worked at a private practice and also at the West LA VA Hospital before going to dental school at the New York University College of Dentistry. Since graduating, I have taken quite a few continuing education classes in a variety of disciplines. I have achieved fellowship status with the Academy of General Dentistry. The AGD Fellowship Award is presented to dentists who seek to provide the highest quality dental care by remaining current in their profession. To achieve this distinction, I completed over 500 hours of dental continuing education, passed a comprehensive written exam, and fulfilled three years of continuous membership with the AGD. I am working on my mastership with the AGD right now. I have also completed nearly 1,000 hours of training in implantology and obtained a Fellowship in the International Congress of Oral Implantologists.
Dr. Kung is currently a member of the American Dental Association and Texas Dental Association, and while in dental school, he was a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and American Academy of Prosthodontics. He attended the AAPs annual meeting his senior year and won a case presentation contest for his pre-doctorate degree, which led him to being featured in his dental schools publication.
Even a highly educated and skilled dentist like Dr. Kung still needs an excellent team to keep their dental office running smoothly at all times. Our team members at Vitality Dental Plano have one goal: to help every patient, no matter how anxious they might be, smile during every visit. Were always ready for a friendly conversation or to address any worries you might have. Take the time to get more familiar with our team by reading below.
