I grew up in Gate City where I met my wonderful husband, Terry. I continued my education at ETSU (go Bucs) after graduation where I completed my AAS in Dental Hygiene. After a relocation to the Richmond, VA area with my husbands military career, I went on to complete my BS, also in Dental Hygiene, prior to being accepted into Virginia Commonwealth Universitys School of Dentistry.

While at VCU, I thrived on empathetic and compassionate patient care, particularly in the area of Prosthodontics of which I was the recipient of the Excellence in Prosthodontics Award my senior year. I also participated in student teaching all four years of my dental education, sharing my hygiene experience and knowledge with fellow dental students.

Terry and I have been married for years and have raised 3 beautiful children, Kirkland () as well as Kayleigh () and Morgan () who both share my love of dentistry. I enjoy reading, knitting and all water sports in my down time. I LOVE music, especially country, and youre surely to hear me singing along during your visits, to which I apologize for in advance ?! Additionally, the family and I enjoy volunteering at local RAM and MOM projects.

I was born and raised in the Washington, DC suburbs. I moved to Johnson City in 1973 to attend ETSU and to escape the throws of city life and the traffic congestion of the busy metropolitan area. I graduated from ETSU with an AAS in Dental Hygiene and a BS in Public Health.

Working in the dental field has been my passion for many years. I sincerely love my patients and care deeply for them not only their dental health, but their total health mentally, physically, and spiritually.

My hobbies include cooking, playing cards, reading especially concerning the advances in alternative medicine, real estate hunting (just to be nosy), and just being with friends, family and my precious fur babies.

Since I was a kid, I have loved going to the dentist, so when it came time to decide on a career path, dentistry became the obvious choice. I love making my patients feel at ease in the dental chair and I truly love it when I can make your pearly whites shine!

My husband and I married right after college and moved to Lynchburg, Va where we lived for 12 years. We have always loved Tennessee, and when my husband got a job opportunity here, we took a leap of faith and made the decision to move in summer 2021.

My hobbies include eating the delicious food my husband makes (Im a lucky girl and he does most of the cooking), watching Netflix, listening to music, walking, biking and long range shooting (Ive shot out to 2165 yards!).

I grew up in Newport, TN and graduated from the dental assisting program at Walters State Community College in 2005, as well as earned my AAS degree from Northeast State Community College in 2013. I began my career as an assistant in Johnson City in 2007. I thoroughly enjoy spending time with patients and creating a comfortable and fun dental experience.

I married the love of my life, Cole, in August of 2006 and welcomed our beautiful daughter, Kayleah, in 2007. I also have 2 fur kids: Kade, which I adopted in October 2011 at 8 weeks of age and Kayleahs best friend, Zoe, a beautiful Great Dane who joined us in 2016. We enjoy our time on the farm with our cattle and miniature donkeys.

I am one of the first smiling faces you will see when you come into our office. I grew up on the beautiful beaches in Florida by Clearwater Beach. When I first walked through Downtown Jonesborough, I knew that we would be relocating!I am so thankful to have stumbled upon this beautiful area, and decided to call it my home.

My passion is cooking.I love all food, except for veggies! My son and I like to come up with crazy creative ideas mixing different heritages with one another and creating amazing dishes! My dogs certainly dont complain with their homemade treats!

When I first came in I had my doubts, and for a while I kept them. I hated dentists, and have been through easily half a dozen or more. Dr. Amy Moody has changed ALL of that. She has when above and beyond for me, and has helped me out in a way I will never be able to pay back, but I will pay it forward, even if it takes me a hundred years. You've done more for me than you will ever understand. Thank you.

They are terrible! I had a filling on number 3 tooth, Dr. Moodey removed that and give me a new filling. I felt pain after that and she changed the filling after one week, saying that the material might me wrong. Right after that I had severe pain, so I called them next morning and she didn't even talk to me. Her associate said that she did whatever she could, now I should go to a specialist. They didn't even refer me a specialist where I can go that day! She left me in the middle of nowhere! It was her responsibility to make things right whatever wrong she did with my tooth! Worst experience ever!

***Update 11-28-18*** Ended up having to get a root canal and crown on this tooth. I have gone through a lot of unnecessary trouble because of this dentist for a tooth that was not causing me any pain at all before I went here. You've been warned. Perhaps I should see a lawyer. I had an absolutely horrible experience at this dentist office with Amy Moody. I went for a cleaning and was told that I had a small cavity that needed to be filled on a tooth that I was having sensitivity with so I scheduled an appointment to come back. The day I came back, I had a gut instinct to run from here but I didn't. Big mistake. I got to thinking to myself, well who could really mess up a filling for a small cavity? Oh how wrong was I. First off, I had to wait over 30 minutes past my appt time for them to even call me back. First red flag. I was actually getting ready to leave when they called me back. After taking me back to get my tooth numb before the filling, she couldn't get it numb. She would give me a shot and then drill and it wouldn't get numb. I have NEVER had a problem with a dentist not being able to numb my tooth before. I believe in total I had 8+ shots (all for one tooth!) and my tooth was still not numb (my jaw was sore for a week along with the tooth pain that occurred after the filling). Moody got agitated after not being able to numb my tooth and blamed it on "dental anxiety" and said she has never seen teeth like mine in a condescending tone (whatever that is supposed to mean?) and decided to give up for the day and put a temporary filling in my mouth and told me to come back in two weeks. She wanted me put on nitrous gas when I came back and to have me on it for a while so it didn't mess with her "hour". That shows how much she really cares. She didn't care if I would have complications after the temporary filling. Now back to the tooth pain. I couldn't feel any tooth pain right after the temporary filling was put in because most of the right side of my mouth was still numb after all of the shots. I also got nauseous after the appt and could still taste the novocaine from the shots (never had this happen before). However, after the numbness wore off I had horrible pain in the tooth she filled and it turned out to not even be the tooth I had sensitivity with. She also put the temporary filling in between two teeth and I was unable to floss between those two teeth. I was in pain and no way was I going to go back to Moody. I went to another dentist to fix Moody's mistake. Moody also told me while she was attempting to drill my tooth that it was a small cavity and that it wasn't deep. That was also wrong. The other dentist had to shape my tooth because the cavity was deep and near the gumline. The other dentist said that they didn't even understand at all what Moody did and that all she did was inflame the tooth. Also, I went in to have my x-rays transferred to another office and told the woman upfront that I would like to voice a complaint. I told her what was going on and she went and alerted Moody. The receptionist told her I was not happy about my last visit and Moody's reply was "Oh really? I'm sorry" in a VERY condescending tone. That was totally uncalled for. She knows what she did and showed her true colors. She had the audacity to try and blame the other dentist for her ignorant mistake! She will be paying for a root canal and crown if I have to have one. I do not advise anyone to go here!

7:00 AM Monday new patient appointment after driving 30 minutes, right on time. Walk in, inform me that one of their hygienists called in late, they would have to reschedule me to a later appointment they happen to have open that day. I ask why they would choose to do that instead of work me in first. Told they would work me in, fill out paperwork, taken back at 7:30 for x-ray's and told they would sit me in a chair, possibly for 2 hours, to wait for someone to get back to me. Spoke to Dr. Moody who said it would be disrespectful to other patients who are booked with a provider to bump them, confrontationally and with attitude. I asked if it was more disrespectful to me to completely rebook me to a later appointment even though I had the earliest appointment of the day. I told her that is no way to run a business and that I'll take mine and my wife's elsewhere. They care little about new patients; guess they don't need the business. I would advise others to seek dental services elsewhere.

Dr. Moody and everybody I met there were friendly, knowledgeable, and hilarious. Checkup/cleaning was thorough and painless. Most importantly, they have an office dog to keep you calm.
