Vista Dental Care - General dentist in Sparks, NV

Dr. Thomas has worked and trained extensively to build a practice that exceeds your expectations for trusted, personalized dental care. He consistently brings his patients only the best that modern dentistry has to offer, by keeping himself and the staff informed of the latest advances in available techniques and technology.

After receiving his bachelors degree from the University of California, Davis, in 1986, Dr. Thomas earned his D.D.S. degree from the University of the Pacific, where he graduated in 1993. He then served in the US Army Dental Corps taking care of our troops. Since then, he has kept up-to-date on the newest developments in his field through numerous continuing education courses including implant restoration and aesthetic rehabilitation. He also remains active in the dental community as a mentor and visiting faculty member at Cerecdoctors.com, a member of the American Dental Association, Northern Nevada Dental Society, Seattle Study Club, and the Academy of General Dentistry.

Following their love for skiing and the mountains, Marc and his wife Maria relocated their family to the Reno/Tahoe area in 1996. The family includes threecollege age sons Zachary, Ryan, and Nicholas. The entire family enjoys downhill and Nordic skiing, sailing both on and off the racecourse, as well as the wide range of outdoor activities which can be enjoyed in our mountain area.

Jamie is a Reno native and still resides in the area with her family. She attended Truckee Meadows Community College for her hygiene degree, where her class ranked number 1 in the National Dental Hygiene Board Exam. She has been in dentistry since 2001 and has been a hygienist since 2007. She started with Vista Dental Care when it first opened in 2008 and has enjoyed building relationships/friendships with the patients she has taken care over the years. Her newest transition in the office has taken her away from her clinical interaction with the patients but she still loves seeing all of them when they come in. In their free time, she, her husband, daughter and son enjoy the outdoors, going to Lake Tahoe, hiking with their dogs, traveling and rooting their favorite sports teams on.

Bruna was born in Brazil and raised in Reno. She has been in dentistry since 2010 and is dedicated to her patients and to delivering the best care possible. Bruna is tri-lingual and speaks English, Spanish and Portuguese. She graduated locally from Truckee Meadows Community College where she was granted the opportunity to be a part of the Sigma Phi Alpha National Dental Hygiene Honor Society. In her spare time, Bruna enjoys spending time with her son, Mateo. They love to go to the lake and hike adventurous trails.

Ambers career in dentistry started in 2016. She studied at Truckee Meadows Community College and loves being able to make a positive impact on patients, helping them keep their smiles for a life. Originally from Lovelock, she is married with three children. Her hobbies outside of the office include spending time with family, camping, hiking, and swimming.

Jennifer moved to Reno in 2006 from Penn Valley, CA where she was raised. She studied and completed the Dental Assisting program at Truckee Meadows Community College in 2009 and has been in dentistry since. She joined our team in 2018 where she takes pride in being a part of helping people achieve a smile that gives them confidence. In her off time she loves spending time with her daughter, making jewelry, working out, dancing and being outdoors.

Tahedah originally is from Bishop, California where she grew up on the Paiute Reservation. (Fun fact: her name means deer in Paiute.) She has been part of the Vista Dental Care team since 2018; she loves the practices atmosphere and being able to meet so many new people through her work. Tahedah loves spending time with her husband, Colton and their two children MacKenzie and Axaell; including two dogs named Poseidon and Oakley, and a cat named Ted. Her hobbies outside of work include fishing, camping, off-roading, and simply being outdoors and exploring new areas. You may notice this when visiting she actually has two different colored eyes!

The entire time I'm being serviced I am only being upsold on things like a mouth guard, water pick, electric tooth brush, specific toothpaste, and "preventative" cavity fillings where my quantity of cavities changes based on who I am talking to. I feel less like a customer coming in for a teeth cleaning which is the appointment I booked and more like a loiter only wasting the hygienist and dentists time. I would prefer to go to another dentistry that focuses on customer service and less on sales.

Disappointed. Waited 3 months, originally they told me that they accepted my insurance, but a few hours before my appointment they told me they didn't accept my insurance and appointment was cancelled. ... but they did offer me to keep appointment and pay out of pocket.

I've been seeing Dr. Thomas and his outstanding staff since relocating to Sparks last year. I have had extensive deep cleaning and several crowns replaced. In all my years of seeing dentists--and I'm no youngster--Dr. Thomas is BY FAR the best. Moreover, previous crowns involved gooey molds that soaked your shirt in drool, temporary crowns, visits to fit and maybe refit the permanent crowns then praying that they work. Dr. Thomas has the technology and equipment to create and fit permanent crowns in a single visit. Moreover, one particular previous crown left a food trap large enough to pack a snack. Dr. Thomas remedied that problem too. And I'm the world's biggest chicken. When procedures require a shot or two to mitigate the pain, I don't feel a thing, not even the injection--ever! All staff are just great--front office, hygienists, x-ray, management. They accept my insurance and many others so that is a plus. But even if they did not, this dental crew is worth every cent.

Staff is very friendly, knowledgeable, and caring. Greet their customers warmly, helpful with questions regarding treatment or insurance. And most importantly, very caring.

By far the best dental experience in my life. Quick & painless repair of a broken tooth that required root canal and crown. I didn't even realize that he had completed the root canal it was that pain free! Staff is friendly. Dr. Marc is an amazing dentist with very skilled hands. Again ZERO pain!

Dr. Marc is a cool guy, but I was up-sold by his staff and felt like I was lied to. I floss my teeth everyday, and I'm quite paranoid/OCD, so I literally haven't missed a day of brushing or flossing for years, along with getting 6 month cleanings regularly, FOR YEARS AND YEARS. During covid, I had lost my insurance and came in to get a cleaning. I paid out of pocket. The out-of-pocket rate was very reasonable. That said, I noticed a giant cardboard advert for a new deep cleaning tool/procedure in the lobby where I was waiting. In the back of my mind I was thinking "I hope they don't try to push this service on me". I was assigned to a new young lady who would clean my teeth. She checked my gaps and assigned everything a 5 to 7. I'm rarely over a 3-4. She also kept noting I had severe bleeding everywhere. I knew she was lying at this point as my gums don't bleed when I floss (quite vigorously I might add). She went on to tell me about the deep cleaning service they were offering (the giant cardboard advert in the lobby) and proceeded to tell me how they'd like me to come in for 4 deep cleaning sessions, 1 cleaning per quadrant, over the course of 4 weeks, at a once again reasonable cost given the service offered. However, I didn't need a deep cleaning and she was lying to me about the gaps and bleeding. I know people who have had deep cleanings. These were people who hadn't seen a dentist in years who also never maintained their teeth and had terrible gum disease. At the end of the day, I was satisfied with my cleaning but not the lying and up-selling. 7 months later, now insured, I went to another established dental practice up Los Altos. Didn't tell them a thing going in. Gaps were measured at 2-3 all around. Doc told me "you have no bleeding and your teeth are very clean, so this is going to be a very quick cleaning". Was out of there 10 minutes later. He told me to keep up what I was doing. I felt like Vista Dental Care viewed me as an income stream rather than as a person. In contrast, I felt like a valued family member at the other dentist I went to. I'd like to give Vista Dental Care the benefit of the doubt though and chalk it up to them being desperate to turn over a profit to stay in business when the entire state basically shut down last year and many people lost their businesses. Vista Dental Care is definitely competent, but the sales tactics and vibe was like walking into a (fancy) car dealership rather than a dentists office. I hope the culture has changed a bit for the better.

See Update below: I changed my rating I wish I was leaving a more positive review. My husband and I moved here and were wanting to get regular dental services establised. I called and explained our separate dental benefits. I have Humana Medicare. I was led to believe that they were in network with Humana/Medicare. (as it turns out they were a year ago but were no longer at the time I asked the question). So I went in for my cleaning appointment fully trusting the fact that they were in network! The office is clean and the staff are friendly. I have known I needed some extra dental work...they quoted me a cost of $4,900.00 some dollars for a crown/inplant . Through this discussion I was informed that they were NOT with Humana which means I am now responsible for 100% of the $280 cleaning! If they were in Network, my insurance would have paid 100'%!!! I was so disappointed! I told them it would have been helpful if they would have been up front with me initially when I clearly asked them. They did offer to allow me to make payments. That wasn't the point. I am now doing my due diligence to locate another dental office. Update: Today, Jamie, the Office Manager called and we had a very supportive understanding about how communication can be improved with future Medicare customers. Doctor Marc also gave me a 50% discount on my bill which was unexpected and greatly appreciated. Like I said in my earlier review, the staff is friendly and I can now say their customer care is outstanding!

I have been to many dentists in Reno and Sparks but the best dentist so far is Vista Dental Care in Sparks... they're the only one that'll not sell you what you don't need. Vista Dental Care is a nice place to visit, the doctor and the staffs are very good and they gives the best treatment. I can say this because I have been with them for over four years and they're the best I knew so far and I'll like to recommend them to friends and family.

Impressive and up to date dental care. The staff is professional, but very friendly and make you feel comfortable. My hygienist is the very best and feel the work that she is doing is far beyond. I have had several teeth crowned and have been very pleased with the turn around time it takes for the completion. Dr Thomas is excellent and so is Bruna.
