Dr. Manuel Rick Villarreal earned his DDS in 1995 from the School of Dentistry at the UT Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas, which was recently named the #1 dental school in Texas, by a U.S. News & World Report ranking. Prior to attending dental school, Dr. Villarreal, a San Benito, Texas native, graduated from Texas A&M University with a B.S. degree in 1988.
After practicing dentistry in El Paso, Dr. Villarreal returned to his roots in the Rio Grande Valley in 2000 to be closer to his family and give back to the community he loves. He is a current board member of the South Texas Independent School District, and of the External Advisory and Development Council College of Science at Texas A&M University. He also currently sits on the United Way of Southern Cameron County Board of Directors.
He is a past board member of the Museum of Fine Arts in Brownsville, Texas and also the past president and former board member of the Rotary Club of Brownsville. Dr. Villarreal is also an Endowed Century Club Member - The Association of Former Students, Texas A&M University.
Professionally, he is a Scholar with The Dawson Academy, a member of the American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association, Rio Grande Valley Dental Society, Academy of General Dentistry, Texas Academy of General Dentistry, and the Rio Grande Valley Component of the Academy of General Dentistry.
Dr. Villarreal believes in listening to patients concerns and keeping up with the latest advances in the ever-changing field of dentistry. He takes pride in challenging himself to provide the best dental care possible by attending continuing education courses throughout the year that exceeds what is required by the state. These courses allow him to hone his skills in a variety of procedures so he can truly provide comprehensive care to his patients.
Crystal Yvonne Garcia joined Villarreal Dental 8 years ago. Prior to her becoming part of the team she had an additional 5 years experience for a total of 13 years in dental assisting. Although Crystal enjoys all aspects of the field, her favorite procedure to assist on are extractions!
Brenda Gonzalezjoined Villarreal Dental in December of 2020 and has been a registered dental hygienist since 2006. Brenda is passionate about Dental Hygiene, she is caring, a hard worker and loves working with kids. She loves treating our patients like family and helping them improve their oral health.
Lizette Padilla is one of our amazing hygienists. She joined Villarreal Dental in October of 2020. She loves taking care of patients oral hygiene needs. Lizette strives to help patients feel relaxed and comfortable in the dental chair by explaining the health reasons and steps behind everything she does.

I highly recommed Dr. VILLARREAL. He is very knowledgeable & most importantly does not rush through treatments he cares about the patient and doing the job right! He is a dentist that does not create new problems on your teeth after treatment. (Communication is everything!) Dental hygienist (Brenda) took her time on explaining treatments to make sure I was knowledgeable about my dental health. Also takes time her time on cleanings! DOES NOT - rush treatments to get to the next patient. The staff is extemely friendly, professional, and helpful!

PATIENTS BEWARE: This place does not understand and or believe in the value of Customer Satisfaction. I had a terrible experience with some crown rplecements and fillings done at this facility. When I had the first issue with the unsatisfactory quality of the Doctors' workmanship. They totally denied to help me, and did not allow me to even speak with the Doctor. Was advised by a very disrespectful administrative lady to go back to the Veterans Administration because they no longer do business with the VA administration.I was suffering with an intense pain as a result of a filler that came off exposing some of my nerves, and just needed for them to look at it because the work was performed last year by Dr Villareal, and felt the need to go back to them because they are the ones who did the work, and responsible to address and correct the bad workmanship. Was in intense pain since Friday night , and They were closed the Next following Monday (Columbus Day), so got in contact with them the Next Day (Tuesday) to only tell me the situation explained above. I Will never allow this Doctor to touch my body again because I DO NOT TRUST HIM, for having such a team that does not care about their customer satisfaction. They only care about money and my perception, based on my experience, is this: If this is the way they treat United States Veterans, I wonder how they treat the customers that can not defend themselves due to language barriers and lack of resources.This place exhibits a high degree of " Bad Business Practices" and border Line - unethical. They did not care about the intense pain that I suffered for four days untill the VA was open on Tuesday, and took care of me.

The best dentist ever! You will not be disappointed. Dr. Villarreal is very thorough and answers all your questions. He also stays up to date with the latest technology. He has a 3D xray machine that gives so much detail and 2 lasers that give the patients so many benefits! Really recommend this office!

Dr.Villarreal and his staff are AMAZING! Last Wednesday night my mother in law suffered a bad fall and hit all of her front teeth pretty badly. We contacted Dr.Villarreal's office after hours and they quickly returned our call and set up an emergency appointment for Thanksgiving Day. Dr.Villarreal met us at his office at 8 am and was very kind and patient as he performed emergency treatment. He gave us detailed instructions on home care, answered all our questions and scheduled a follow up appointment in one week. We are truly grateful for him and his very attentive staff that came in on their vacation day to help us out.
