Hi, Im Dr. Matt Schwedfeger. I was born and raised in Rochester, NY, and graduated from McQuaid Jesuit High School. From there I moved on to Villanova University where I earned a B.S. degree in Biological Sciences. I then traveled to Baltimore where I received my D.D.S. degree from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry, Baltimore College of Dental Surgery. After dental school, I returned home to Rochester and began one year of post-graduate training at the Strong Hospital and the Eastman Institute for Oral Health. There I received vast training in treating medically compromised and special needs patients as well as furthering my education in the areas of cosmetic dentistry, prosthodontics, oral surgery and endodontics. I am currently a part-time associate professor at the Eastman Institute for Oral Health where I work closely with resident doctors to treat patients.
I am an active member of the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, New York State Dental Association, and the Monroe County Dental Society.
Besides dentistry, my interests include golf, the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres, and of course Villanova basketball. I am an avid sports fan and I love being able to share these interests with my friends and family. I currently live in Brighton with my wife, Kacey and our daughter Emma.

I've been meaning to write this for years. Dr. Paul and now Dr. Matt were/are outstanding dentists, they are just downright good human beings. And so is the entire staff. They're kind, caring and gentle (have done work on our anxiety prone 9yo and she was totally comfortable). We switched to Village Smiles from another provider about 12 or 13 years ago and it was one of those decisions you wish you'd have made sooner. You won't find a more committed provider for your family.

10/25/2022 Dr. Matt & Staff are great. Had repair on tooth from prior route canal & also requested to check on cavity in front tooth also. Dr Matt & Courtney took care of both with new fillings. Nice job done by a Dentistry that cares. There's an old saying "If you can't beat them join them".

If you are someone who dreads going to the dentist, fear no more... This Dentist office will set you right at ease from the moment you walk in the door until you leave... genuine caring folks will greet you warmly and address any concerns or worries you have. I found them to be very thorough and willing to answer all my questions. I couldn't have had a better experience!

My hygienist, Jackie, gave many helpful tips regarding flossing and dry mouth care (which can impact cavity formation) in addition to doing a thorough cleaning. Great job!

I have been going to Dr Paul since he started his practice on Rains Park almost 40 years ago! When he moved to Pittsford I continued with him even though I live in Greece. When I learned of Dr Paul's retirement I was a bit concerned about continuing with his son, Dr Matt. I am so happy that I did! Dr Matt is as capable and caring as his father. Everyone there treats you as if you were their family. I feel so at home and at ease when I am there! I wouldn't think of going anywhere else!

Dr Matt and assistant are the great at what they do. It was as painless as any dental appointment I ever had. I really appreciate that !!! Dr Matt talked me through all the steps before he proceeded. There office is very clean and they follow all the COVID guidelines. I was very comfortable. Thanks for what you do and how you do it.

Village smiles has terrific staff and service from the moment you walk in the door to when you leave. Appointment started right on time, Debra was efficient, supportive and friendly and I got seen by Dr. Matt with little waiting. My wife and two kids also go here and we are very happy!
