Your treatment will only be provided by Dr. Bret- which is important as it has been studied that when multiple Orthodontists, even when from the same practice, treat a patient-the total time the braces will need to be worn is longer.You will also never have to worry about your orthodontist changing or leaving during the middle of your treatment, which is a story I hear quite a lot these days. We will treat your family like our family and give you thetreatment advice that will benefit YOU the most. Dr. Bret wasan orthodontic resident years ago and taught at Vanderbilt Medical Centerand fully is aware first hand the issues that arise when multiple doctorsfollow the same patient. Most orthodontists may get from point A to point Z but the route is often very different. Dr. Bret Freedman, grew up in Sandy Springs, right down the street from Village Orthodontics.Dr. Bret graduated summa cum laude from Woodward Academy where he attended middle and high school. After spending the majority of his life in the South, hedecided to move north to attend theUniversity of Michigan, Ann Arbor. At Michigan, Dr. Freedman received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics with a premed focus, because he knew that in his heart he wanted to follow the career path of his father and grandfather in the dental specialty.
Throughout the course of his dental training, Dr. Freedman received many awards for his clinical and scholastic achievements including the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Cert. of Recognition, American Academy of Periodontology Award, and the James C Hickey Memorial Scholarship.
He received his Orthodontic Specialty Certificate fromVanderbilt University Medical Center. Vanderbilts rigorous training provided Dr. Freedman with the highest level of knowledge and clinical expertise in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics and dental sleep medicine. Dr. Freedman served five years as a part-time clinical assistant faculty member at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Division of Orthodontics. He has also been selected to teach at a new Orthodontic Residency in Nashville Tennesseethat will be filling the spot for Vanderbilt's shuttered residency.
Dr. Freedman has completed the written portion of the American Board of Orthodontics Exam to become board certified by theAmerican Board of Orthodonticsand is Invisalign Certified. He is a member of theAmerican Association of Orthodontists, theGeorgia Dental Association, theAmerican Dental Association, and a former member of theAmerican Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine.
Dr. Bret loves tinkering in all thingsthat are technology- which is why the office - let's face it is super high tech, maybe a little geeky, too. He is often asked by orthodontic and dental companies to tests products, give insights and advice about these products and give advice on dental products on an ongoing basis. He can often be seen roaming around the Dunwoody area with wife Amy and 3 children Hannah, Jonah, and Leah.
Before founding Village Orthodontics in 2017, Dr. Freedman worked for a large orthodontic group practice in Georgia for 9years, during this time he successfully treated over 800 -1200 new patients a year and a total of over 10,000 patients. This gave Dr. Freedman a unique perspective and advantage compared to most orthodontists who average 200-250 new patients in a year. By treating over 4x the number of patients a year Dr. Freedman versus the average Orthodontist, Dr. Freedman gained the experience of treating almost every type ofpatient countless times, and knows to to successfully treat any condition that faces himefficientlyand effectively.
At Village Orthodontics, Dr. Bretdoesn'tbelievethat living and running an officein the community is goodenough.
