I grew up in Chillicothe, Illinois which is a small town north of Peoria. My father, Tim Freund, DDS was one of two dentists in town. Throughout college, I was able to sporadically work at my fathers office which is where I learned the value of working within the community that you lived. He was able to spend time every day taking care of his friends and family.
I knew that I wanted to find a practice that looked to develop that community relationship. Fortunately, I was able to find that with Dr. Waterloo in Kenilworth. Together we are creating an office culture that is patient focused through customer service and improved treatment options.
I am excited about the future of dentistry because of the improvements in technology within our industry. This allows better treatment options that are faster and more predictable that can be tailored to our patients needs.
After living in downtown Chicago for several years, in 2012 my wife Laura and I decided to move our then young son Charlie to Glenview. In 2013 we welcomed our daughter Lily. Through the people that we have met, we believe that we have found one of the greatest communities in the area.
I enjoy donating my time with various organizations. I have volunteered with the Illinois State Dental society Mission of Mercy, am a lead organizer for the Dental Access Days. I love spending time being involved with my kids and activities they love, including hockey, baseball, soccer, as well as dance and piano recitals. For fun, I enjoy playing paddle a few times a week, walking and biking the neighborhoods with the family, and partaking in any local activities with our friends from the community.
I feel very fortunate to practice dentistry, to be available to help people, to establish and nurture relationships, and deliver high-quality, comfortable dental care. I strive to exceed your expectations. I listen to and try to understand your concerns and help make your experience better.
Its a pleasure to spend my days caring for wonderful people from our community. Each person comes to me with specific oral health needs. Together we address those needs and develop a plan to achieve exceptional dental health and a great smile. I am honored to be chosen as a member of your healthcare team.

I admit to being a total geek for technology, and love learning new skills, as well as sharpening those I learned in dental school. Oral healthcare is a constantly evolving field, and my patients depend on me to evaluate new products and approaches and make appropriate recommendations to suit their needs. Through continuing education and investments in my practice, I am able to do so.
The new frontier of 3D imaging is a perfect example. We are now able to create permanent crowns in the office, so it only takes one visit to complete placement of a crown. With digital 2D and 3D conebeam imaging, were able to improve diagnoses, as well as provide more accurate placement of implants. I have also completed orthodontic training, so I am able to deliver that life-changing care for children, teens, and adults.
Evanston, IL has been my home for almost 30 years. I grew up in Rock Island, in western Illinois, on the Mississippi River. I have three sons: 21-year-old triplets! They are juniors in college at three different universities. My husband, Tom, the boys, and I live in a two-flat we rehabbed into a single-family home. Our family is rounded out with a small poodle-shih tzu mix, Ella Fitzgerald Waterloo. Shes the queen of our home.

I enjoy working with our patients and getting to know them on a personal level. Its a great feeling to help people whove become my friends to develop a beautiful and healthy smile. Its my goal to help each patient throughout their visit, making sure they feel comfortable and at ease during dental treatment. When a patient learns we practice gentle dentistry, and this is a safe space, they arrive with smiles and leave with them, too. I love that.
I like getting to know the people who come to our office and building lasting relationships with them. Those relationships build trust and allow me to educate each person on whole body health and how it relates to the mouth. I work with a range of patients with different levels of gum disease, oral hygiene skills, and motivation, to help them attain and maintain great oral health. Its my goal to develop educated patients, who are proactive in caring for their smiles.

I'm frightened of the dental chair and Dr. Waterloo and staff make my experience calm and comfortable. It's always nice to be greeted by Melissa. Getting my teeth cleaned by Jill is no less than superb. I once asked why it takes her so long to clean my teeth, she answered, with confidence, "because I'm THOROUGH"! For my money, I like thorough! When Dr. Waterloo suggested that I get four of my top teeth capped, I was hesitant due to my fear of dental work, but this needed to be done. She and her staff were AMAZING. They calmed me, and sure enough, after the procedure was complete, (with zero pain) I looked in the mirror and WOW! Beautiful teeth and a new smile! I actually hugged my dentist! 5 stars for all!

The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. I always leave feeling like my teeth are at their best! Everyone at the office is great with kids too- my 3yr old feels very comfortable getting her teeth cleaned!
