Dr. Zhu Cosmetic Dentistry Dr.Zhus love of dentistry started by complete chance: as a high school senior, she was searching for a summer job and saw an ad posted in her guidance counselors office. The ad was for a local dental office looking for summer help. She ended up working for two summers as a dental assistant in that office. The third summer, she decided to stay at college and do research, and after that one lonely summer of working with mice, she realized how much she missed working with people in a dental office and vowed to go back. After completing her undergraduate degree at Vanderbilt University (graduating cum laude with a major in biomedical engineering and minors in English and Biology), she continued her studies and graduated from Columbia Universitys College of Dental Medicine. The following year, she completed a general practice dental residency from Jacobi Medical Center where she worked on a variety of cases ranging from special needs patients to facial trauma in the ER. Dr.Zhu worked for a number of years in Manhattan until she had her first baby, at which time she joined the usual mass migration out to the burbs. These days when shes not in the office, she and her circus of three little boys can be seen around South Orange, either on the various playgrounds, the library, or the town pool.

Judy, RDH & Office Manager My love of dental hygiene and bringing smiles to our patients has made me passionate about my career! I have been in the dental field for past 30 years and truly enjoy working for Dr. Christian for the past 14+years. I earned my degree in dental hygiene from NYU College of Dentistry. The professional staff and state of the art equipment we use at the practice affords me the opportunity to provide the best dental care for our hygiene patients. Working in a dental practice that focuses on oral health through routine cleanings and check-ups makes for happy environment to work in. I consider it a privilege to serve our community by providing the best dental care for our patients. If you are considering joining us for your oral health, I look forward to welcoming you.

Wendy Administrative Assistant I joined Village Dental group in February 2011. Working in the dental field has been a great experience for me. I look forward to coming to work as I welcome new and interesting people at the office every day. Its such a joy to be part of a team that helps patients in so many different ways. Its sometimes troubling to see a patient arrive for an emergency in pain, but it is great experience to watch our doctors and staff work together to return them to great oral health. I consider it a privilege to serve our community as part of the Village Dental Team.

Yajaira -Dental Assistant I graduated from the American Institute as a Certified Dental Assistant. General Dentistry is innovative and has had a significant change through out the years. The new ideas and advancement with oral restoration and health really inspire me, which is one of main reasons why I chose this field. Aside from that, I also enjoy dentistry because I can witness the difference Im actually making in peoples lives. It fills me with joy to see people smile and know that I put the effort into that persons smile.

Saliva is one of your body's natural defenses against plaque because it acts to rinse your mouth of cavity-causing bacteria and other harmful materials. Dry mouth (also called Xerostomia) is a fairly common condition that is caused by diminished saliva production. People with medical conditions, such as an eating disorder or diabetes, are often plagued by dry mouth. Eating foods such as garlic, tobacco use, and some kinds of medications, including treatments such as cancer therapy can diminish the body's production of saliva, leading to dry mouth. Other causes are related to aging (including rheumatoid arthritis), and compromised immune systems.

Some of the less alarming results of dry mouth include bad breath. But dry mouth can lead to more serious problems, including burning tongue syndrome, a painful condition caused by lack of moisture on the tongue.

If you don't have a medical condition that causes it, dry mouth can be minimized by sipping water regularly, chewing sugarless gum and avoiding smoking. Of course, there is no substitute for regular checkups and good oral hygiene.

VILLAGE DENTAL and Dr. Christian are absolutely terrible. I brought my mother-in-law for a broken tooth to be crowned. I don't know where Dr. Christian went to Dental School, but her expertise in the dental field is quite lacking. My mother-in-laws crown developed a problem around the gums, so I took her to another dentist. The new dentist we are seeing, Dr. Pollack, said it is obvious that the crown was not fit right from the start. Now we have to spend double because a new crown is needed from her new dentist, to replace Dr. Christian's crown. Just a shame. Maybe everyone in Village Dental acts so nice and bubbly, because they are covering up for their dental incapability. I do not recommend anyone to have any dental treatment at Village Dental Group.

I love everyone at Village Dental. From Dr. Christian to all her staff, I couldn't be more happy with my treatment. I am someone who REALLY dislikes going to the dentist. Village Dental Group understands my fears and soothes my anxiety every time I visit. So glad they are my go-to for dental health! Thanks to the Group%! .

This is a WONDERFUL dental office! The staff is super upbeat and friendly, very nice, and very helpful. The office itself its modern with modern technology. It was overall just a pleasant environment to be in. I went for an orthodontist consultation with Dr. Copeland after having been to a different orthodontist who told me that I needed corrective jaw surgery to fix my teeth. Dr. Copeland assured me it wasn't necessary and laid out a plan for me to get my teeth fixed, surgery free! He was very knowledgeable and clearly passionate about his work and caring for his patients. I would HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone looking for orthodontist help or dental needs!
