Our dentist office has been an integral part of the Victoria, TX, community for over 43 years. Dr. Richard H. Heard started it on Airline Street, where it remained for 10 years. In 1983, he moved it to 107 Professional Park Drive where it flourishes today. After her service in the USAF, Dr. Rachel Heard joined the practice in 2001. Together, Dr. Richard Heard and Dr. Rachel Heard formed Victoria Family Dentistry. Many staff members have been with us for years, some since the beginning of our journey.

Dr. Rachel Heard has been practicing dentistry in Victoria, TX, since 2001. She graduated with her BA degree in biology from University of Texas in Austin, while earning the UT Health Science Center Womens Faculty Leadership Award in 1997.
After dental school, she served in the US Air Force from 1997-2001. In June of 1998, she became the company grade officer of the Quarter Brooks Air Force base. She also won the Professional Image Award of the Year in the Brooks Air Force base medical squadron that same year.
Dr. Heard is whole-heartedly committed to the community in which she serves. She worked as the secretary of the local dental society from 2006-2007, the treasurer and vice president from 2007-2008, and the president from 2008-2009. She has served in the Junior League of Victoria for ten years, where she is currently a sustainer. In addition, she has served on several boards including the Victoria Ballet Theatre and St. Joseph High School.
When shes not improving peoples lives through dentistry, Dr. Rachel enjoys fishing, running, triathlons, volunteering at the coffee shop at church, traveling on mission trips, and supporting community organizations.
We would like to introduce you to Dr. Veronica Copeland who will be working part time in our office including some Fridays now. Dr. Copeland moved from Lubbock to Victoria in 2018. She graduated with a degree in chemistry from Texas Tech University in 2009, and completed her Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 2013 from Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas. Dr. Copeland is thrilled to be here in Victoria with her four children and husband, who is a pulminologist and intensive care doctor. Dr. Copeland feels that dentistry is one of the greatest professions, and is excited to be able to serve our patients in this office. She prides herself on practicing dentistry with integrity and also feels it is important to stay abreast of this ever-developing profession by taking extensive continuing education courses. When she is not chasing her children or practicing dentistry, she enjoys cooking, jogging, podcasts, and deepening her faith. She looks forward to meeting and developing relationships with our wonderful patients here at Victoria Family Dentistry!

Dr. Rachel and staff always go 100% on patient care. They understand emergencies come up; they work hard to assist the problem. My 86 year old mother can be a challenge but they work well with us. We are both grateful.

It's been awhile since I took my daughter's to the dentist, and Katelyn was amazing. My daughters seemed a bit nervous but Katelyn explained what she was going to do and showed them the tools before use, and also was very patient with the many questions my eldest had lol.Thank you staff and Dr. Heard

Rachel Heard and her staff are very professional and knowledgeable. They always explain any procedure that needs to be done.I've started using them when Dr. Richard was there and still using them now. Completely satisfied

Very pleased to work with Victoria Family Dentistry, they were able to get my daughter in and seen in a timely manner. We have had some BAD experiences here in Victoria with quite a few other dentist. Thank you for being available and for your sweet staff. My daughter said she found her new dentist!

Very friendly atmosphere! They are switching over to digital records and working with customers to make that process as painless as possible (helping fill out the online questions). They do a great job of "gently scolding" about not flossing regularly.

My youngest daughter who was afraid of the dentist, Dr. Heard & Dr. Copeland made things fun and comfortable for my daughter. Now, she looks forward to her visits.
