We dont just want to treat your oral health problems, we want to determine the root cause of your dental problems in hopes of preventing further complications down the road. We provide quality general, restorative, and cosmetic dentistry, and everything in between to help our patients achieve the healthy, beautiful smile they deserve.
We offer preventive services, as well as treatment for orthodontics, periodontal disease (gum disease), TMJ, surgical implant placement and restoration, cosmetic veneers, same-day CEREC crowns, onlays, and inlays. We offer gentle dentistry by numbing reversal with Oraverse, and less painful shots with OnSet and compounded topical anesthetic.
Dr. Chad is a Southeast Polk High School graduate. He completed his undergraduate studies atthe University of Iowa and continued at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry, earning aDoctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2005.
Dr. Chad has been a member of theAmerican Dental Associationand its local affiliates:Iowa DentalAssociationandDes Moines District Dental Society; the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry; the American Academy of Facial Esthetics, theAcademy of Laser Dentistry;and he is a Fellowof theAcademy of General Dentistryand Diplomate of the International Dental Implant Association. He was involved with the Cerec Mentor Group for five years, andserves as a Trainer for other dentists in the state of Iowa for Cerec, a Sirona technology.
Dr. Chad and his wife, Sarah, have three childrenGabe, Sophia and Daphne. He is an active member of his church, and enjoys swimming and cycling, photography, traveling, and coaching little league. He looks forward to serving the community where he grew up for years to come. In 2020, he opened Veranda Dentistry Johnston.
FAGD stands for Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry. Earning Fellowship takes dedication to dental continuing education (CE) beyond graduation. Only about 6 percent of general dentists in the U.S. and Canada are AGD Fellows. When you see a dentist with FAGD after their name, you can rest assured they care about knowing the latest techniques and best practices in dentistry. AGD Fellows practice these techniques in a classroom setting multiple times a yearnot every dentist does this.
Dr. Hannah Turner was born and raised in West Des Moines, IA where she graduated from Valley High School. She then completed her undergraduate studies at Wartburg College in Waverly, IA where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and minor in Business. During her undergraduate years, she was a member of the Wartburg Womens Soccer Team.
Dr. Hannah continued her education at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry, where she received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2020. She is currently a member of the American Dental Association and the Academy of General Dentistry.
When not practicing dentistry, Dr. Hannah enjoys spending time with family and friends. She also enjoys spending time outdoors, running, golfing, and continues to play soccer recreationally. Dr. Hannah is happy to call the Des Moines area her home and looks forward to forming new relationships with her patients and serve this community for years to come.

Our founding doctor was born and raised right here in the Des Moines area, so we love being able to provide quality dentistry and compassionate care for our friends and neighbors in our small-town community.

I'd rather go to a dentist who DOESN'T badmouth his former patients and tell people about their confidential medical information. If you value your privacy and HIPAA, I'd suggest staying far away from Chad Johnson!

I went in for the 1st step of 3 implants. Dr Chad spent a lot of time explaining and involving me in the process, which I appreciated. Mine was not a simple case. He spent a lot of time planning and talking to me. Many dentists would not have done that. That is why Dr Chad is the best!!! He assured me he would make me comfortable during the procedure but I was still very anxious. He was true to his word. I remembered nothing of the procedure. He also made sure I was well covered for pain control. I knew there would be pain, and there sure is, but I am as comfortable as I could be after such major dental work. Thanks to all the crew. Even though I have no memory I am sure they were great because they always are.

The staff from the front desk to the chair was exceptional. They truly care for the patient. Dr. Chad was approachable and had great comrodery with his team. I felt at home even though this was my first visit to Veranda Dentistry. I will continue my dental care with Veranda!

Dr. Chad made me so comfortable I could fall asleep while he is working on me. The staff is extremely compassionate and they are willing to work with you on payment. Love this place and will always come back when I need work done!

Veranda's in-house insurance allows me to have my teeth cleaned every 6 months and includes x-rays, an exam by the dentist, and fluoride treatments. I used to skip cleanings because I couldn't afford them! Now I don't worry about tooth loss and gum disease, and I feel that I've achieved whole-body health. The staff is fantastic as well!

I have to tell y'all Doctor Chad is Amazing omg pays attention and can relate to demands lol lol now the nurses that makes it easier for the Doc are amazing. Mrs Sally on the front no matter what the is going to bring she has a beautiful smile, now Mrs Jessica is also amazing I can complain and talk and talk and she is patient with me omg I love them. So all I have to say is I love my whole experience with this Facility.

I hope that Dr Hanna understands that what she does for people is beyond great! I have hyper anxiety when it comes to dentists, and toward the end of my procedure she was my safety. she went way above and way beyond, she transformed my life! I am forever thankful for her and hope she knows how much I appreciate what she did for me! she is amazing I could never say enough to express my gratitude!!

I don't make many reviews but this place is by far the best Dentist office I've ever been to. I used to have high anxiety whenever I went to the dentist like most people do I assume, but ever since finding Veranda and their team. I almost get excited that I have a dentist appointment now. Keep up the great work, it's appreciated!!
