Dr. James is a Rockford, Illinois native who after graduating from Marquette University School of Dentistry, served two years in the United States Army prior to moving back to Rockford to establish his dental practice. My personal interests revolve heavily around my family, and now especially, spending as much time as possible with my three young grandchildren. My other interests are mostly golf, tennis, exercise, and a love of photography and cooking.

I received my Associates in dental hygiene at Lewis and Clark Community College. I have practiced dental hygiene for 18 years. Most of my career has been in family dentistry with an emphasis in cosmetic dentistry. I have thoroughly enjoyed the variety of patients at Vecchio Dental Care. Seeing families who have been coming for years along with amazing cosmetic focused patients, I truly feel a part of the 'family' and am completely confident in the care and dentistry provided for each of our awesome patients.
I received a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene and a Minor in Education degree from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI in 1980. I worked part time in various offices for 10 years. After subbing in Dr. Vecchio's office off and in since 1981, I knew I wanted to become a permanent employee for him because he handled his patients with more integrity and better quality of care. I was given the opportunity in 1989 with a part time position and two years late I started full time. I LOVE being a dental hygienist. I enjoy the wonderful relationships I have developed over the years with my patients and their families. I like helping them become healthier through teaching them proper dental care. I like seeing them conquer gingivitis and manage periodontal disease with tips I have given them.
Dr. Vecchio offers several periodontal services to maintain and restore the health of your gums, from routine maintenance, scaling and root planing, to surgical and regenerative procedures for your gums and bone supporting your teeth. This includes tissue grafting for gum recession.
The American Dental Association (ADA) recommends brushing at least twice a day. We encourage patients to stick with a diligent brushing and flossing routine daily, and to floss at least once a day to remove plaque buildup between the teeth and around the gum line.
