Experienced and kind, Dr. Douglas W. Vayda has been practicing as an orthodontist for over 25 years! He continually strives to provide exceptional patient care and customer service that results in beautiful smiles and long-term dental health. He enjoys the transformational nature of orthodontics on the smiles of children, adolescents and adults. Orthodontic treatment generally takes one to two years, and this allows him to get to know our patients and their families and to be part of their lives. He, along with our team, endeavors to make orthodontic treatment an exciting and enjoyable experience.
Dr. Vayda received his undergraduate degree from Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Science in biology and later went on to the the Ohio State University for his Doctor of Dental Surgery. He then attended Harvard University for a Doctor of Medical Science in oral biology and a specialization certificate in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics.
Our practice offers cutting-edge orthodontic care, and Dr. Vayda attends many continuing education courses to add to his knowledge of orthodontic treatments. He also seeks out continuing education opportunities in implants, occlusion, temporomandibular joint disorders and general dental procedures to better coordinate his orthodontic treatment with overall dental health. Additionally, he has been an Invisalign clear aligners provider since its inception in 1998.
He served on the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honorary Society board and was the faculty of the year for the University of Minnesota. Dr. Vayda has been a professor of orthodontics on the faculty at the University of Minnesota for over 30 years and has probably taught over 70% of the orthodontists in the state of Minnesota. He is a former assistant professor of orthodontics at the University of Pittsburgh and currently lectures on the topics of orthodontic diagnosis and treatment planning, biomechanics, treatment modalities including Invisalign clean aligner treatment, surgical orthodontics, cleft lip and palate treatment, and practice management. He also supervises the treatment planning and orthodontic care of patients in the orthodontic clinic at the dental school.
His wife, Patricia Vayda, is also a Harvard-trained orthodontist and former chair of the orthodontic department at the University of Minnesota. She is now in private practice at our locations in Edina and Richfield, and they regularly consult with each other regarding patient care. They have raised two daughters, now living in New York City and Rochester, Minnesota, and are comfortably settled in as empty nesters who now care for their dog, Coco. Dr. Vaydas hobbies include running, skiing, drawing and painting.
Passionate about her patients lives and the aesthetics of their smiles, Dr. Molly McMahon views orthodontics as a powerful tool in making positive impacts for the patients in her community. She develops personalized treatment plans for each individual she helps and loves seeing the final outcomes, which improve patient self-confidence and make a lifelong difference for their smiles.
Originally from Chanhassen, Minnesota, Dr. McMahon attended Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, for her BS in biology and minor in Spanish. She completed her Doctor of Dental Surgery at theUniversity of Minnesotaand was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon honor society. She continued at the University of Minnesota for her Master of Science and specialty certificate in orthodontics.
Dr. McMahon is always working to keep up to date with the newest technology and research in the field of orthodontics through her involvement in the Minnetonka Study Club, Spear Study Club and Young Dentists Study Club. She keeps up with relevant topics in dentistry and orthodontics in order to provide the most thorough, efficient and effective care for her patients.
Dr. McMahon and her husband, Kevin, live in Minnetonka, MN with their dogs, Finley and Gigi. Outside of work, Dr. McMahon is passionate about staying active and being involved in the community. She is committed to maintaining relationships with friends and family, and she enjoys visiting her college friends in Milwaukee and Chicago frequently. You can also find Dr. McMahon downhill skiing, practicing yoga, biking and doing puzzles.

I went to Vayda McMahon orthodontics for my Invisalign this past year and they made the process super easy and seamless! Like many adults, I had braces as a child but wanted Invisalign to straighten out my lower teeth after a few years of not wearing my retainer. Dr. McMahon was so kind and answered all my questions with patience. Was a great experience overall and I am very happy with the results, wish I would have gone sooner!!

My Children have done the Chaska Hockey mouth guard day for the last three years! Great mouth guards! Quick and easy to stop in and get an impression! I liked the office so much that my oldest goes there for braces now! The're always on time and a great atmosphere! I recommend them to all!

I went for an exam and the doctor was very nice and answered all my questions with out pressuring me to start treatment. I was able to have my records done on the same day to save me an appointment! I chose invisalign and love the results! I would highly recommend this office, great customer service!!

Great orthodontic office!, my daughter was very nervous at first and they treated my daughter with patience and kindness. She now goes to her appointments with a smile on her face! Very relaxing atmosphere and they are always on time!

I have 3 children in various stages of the process and I have never had a bad experience with the staff. The doctors a very friendly and my children do not dread the ortho visits. The front desk folks are top notch and very willing to explain things and help coordinate appointments.

Stay away!!! Absolute worst level of care I have ever witnessed. Went there for the free custom mouth guard offered through the Chaska Hockey Association. To create the mouth guard they have to create a mold. However, when creating the mold the hygienist came up behind my son, didnt say a word or explain anything and jammed the tray with putty into his mouth and when he jerked back she grabbed him and continued to force the tray upward while he was freaking out. Shocked as a parent and left immediately. There were kids crying all over the place.... utter nightmare.
