Dr. Bob Vaught attended the University of South Carolina on an athletic scholarship for springboard diving, and graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the Medical University of South Carolina, and completed his advanced post-graduate residency in orthodontics at Saint Louis University, where he earned his Master of Science Degree in Dentistry and was honored as Valedictorian of his class.

Dr. Vaughts commitment to the future of the dental profession and the specialty of orthodontics has been significant. He is a past president of the Georgia Association of Orthodontists, the Savannah Dental Society, and the Southeastern District Dental Society. He has served on the Council on Membership, Ethics, and Judicial Concerns for the American Association of Orthodontists, and is a past Chairman of the Mentor Committee and the present Chairman of the Constituent Affairs Committee for the southern region of the College of Diplomates of the American Board of Orthodontics. Dr. Vaughts contributions to the profession in Georgia have been recognized with Honorable Fellowship in the Georgia Dental Association, where he has served on the Board of Trustees, as a member of the House of Delegates, and as a founding board member of the Georgia Dental Insurance Service.

Dr. Vaught and his wife, Kathy, have been married nearly 25 years and are the devoted parents of three children, Kate, Robert, and Will. Dr. Vaughts hobbies keep him outdoors. He can often be found in the woods hunting with his boys, or on the water, where he is an avid saltwater fly fisherman.

Dr. Kate Vaught, a native of Savannah, was the Salutatorian of her class at Saint Vincents Academy before attending the Honors College at the University of South Carolina as a prestigious Cooper Scholar.

She graduated Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and later received her dental degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. Kate recently completed her orthodontic education and earned a Master of Science degree from Marquette University.

No. All orthodontists must be licensed to practice, but at this time only 1 in 3 orthodontists have continued on to complete Board Certification. The American Board of Orthodontics (ABO) certification process signifies a unique achievementa significant step beyond the two to three years of advanced education required for a dentist to become a specialist in orthodontics. The process requires the orthodontist to demonstrate actual accomplishments in patient care with detailed case reports on the treatment provided for a broad range of patient problems. Board certification is a voluntary achievement that all orthodontists do not choose to pursue. In order to become board certified by the ABO, an individual orthodontist is thoroughly interviewed by a highly respected panel of examiners to demonstrate their orthodontic knowledge, clinical skills and judgment.

One. The American Board of Orthodontics (ABO) is the only certifying board in the specialty that is recognized by the American Dental Association. The ABO was founded in 1929 and is the oldest specialty board in dentistry. The boards purpose is to elevate the quality of orthodontic care for the public by promoting excellence through certification, education and professional collaboration.

Successful completion of the examination process demonstrates the orthodontists highest commitment to excellence in orthodontics to both the orthodontic profession and the general public. It represents a commitment by a licensed specialist that he/she has the necessary knowledge base and skills to treat patients to the highest of standards. It exemplifies a practitioners commitment to continue to keep abreast of the latest advances in patient care, and to continue to deliver these latest advances to patients. Many orthodontists see it as a demonstration of their dedication to the specialty and the highest level of personal achievement.

Since the establishment of the ABO in 1929, the certification process requirements have continued to adjust to the demands of the specialty. Today, the process involves a thorough Written Examination (240 questions) covering all areas of information which an orthodontist should be knowledgeable. Successful completion of this board exam allows the orthodontist to proceed to the Clinical Examination where they present detailed case reports from their practice/residency, demonstrating a history of excellence in patient care. These cases are evaluated by a panel of examiners and later discussed during an oral examination where the applicant is tested on a wide variety of academic and clinical topics. After successful completion of these examinations, the orthodontist has officially achieved Board Certification, for a time-limited period. The orthodontist must go through Certification Renewal every 10 years to maintain their certification status by demonstrating this continued level of patient care.

Our daughter needed braces and Dr. Vaught and his staff were so wonderful! In the middle of her treatment she needed to relocate to another state for a year, Dr. Vaught worked with our family and is finishing up the treatment now that she has returned. I can not recommend them enough!!

After fully reaserching through many other offices, this one had the best reviews! Great customer service from day one, quick responses and quick services with very detailed information. I would definitely recommend Vaught O. (Update) I'm so used to getting reminder emails of my son appointments and confirming that way, but today I totally forgot they Even set up his appointment for today, I received a call around 10:31 saying I missed it, when I asked did they send a reminder out because I check my email frequently she replied they stopped sending those and calls. This is a first I'm hearing this and why wasn't we told this when the appointment was scheduled, then she calls right back and says they do send them and my information was taken out, that they don't have my email, but I see one was sent right away to the same email I been using for a year now. If there's a late payment they don't hesitate to call or email though!

My family and I have used Dr. Vaught since March 2017 for my daughter, my niece, and myself. Let me just say the experience has been nothing short of amazing. Dr. Vaught and Dr. Kate's team are such wonderful people. My girls and I have always looked forward to going to our appointments. For us, it wasn't just a check up- it was like visiting family. The atmosphere is incredible. They make you feel so welcomed. We have never felt rushed. They take their time with every patient. Answer all of your questions. Mallory at the front desk has always been so helpful and patient. And I can't forget Ms. Betsy. She has been absolutely wonderful to my family and I. If you need orthodontic care- go see them. I can assure you, you won't be disappointed! Best experience ever!
