Dr. Bob Vaught attended the University of South Carolina on an athletic scholarship for springboard diving, and graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the Medical University of South Carolina, and completed his advanced post-graduate residency in orthodontics at Saint Louis University, where he earned his Master of Science Degree in Dentistry and was honored as Valedictorian of his class.

Dr. Vaughts commitment to the future of the dental profession and the specialty of orthodontics has been significant. He is a past president of the Georgia Association of Orthodontists, the Savannah Dental Society, and the Southeastern District Dental Society. He has served on the Council on Membership, Ethics, and Judicial Concerns for the American Association of Orthodontists, and is a past Chairman of the Mentor Committee and the present Chairman of the Constituent Affairs Committee for the southern region of the College of Diplomates of the American Board of Orthodontics. Dr. Vaughts contributions to the profession in Georgia have been recognized with Honorable Fellowship in the Georgia Dental Association, where he has served on the Board of Trustees, as a member of the House of Delegates, and as a founding board member of the Georgia Dental Insurance Service.

Dr. Vaught and his wife, Kathy, have been married nearly 25 years and are the devoted parents of three children, Kate, Robert, and Will. Dr. Vaughts hobbies keep him outdoors. He can often be found in the woods hunting with his boys, or on the water, where he is an avid saltwater fly fisherman.

Dr. Kate Vaught, a native of Savannah, was the Salutatorian of her class at Saint Vincents Academy before attending the Honors College at the University of South Carolina as a prestigious Cooper Scholar.

She graduated Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and later received her dental degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. Kate recently completed her orthodontic education and earned a Master of Science degree from Marquette University.

No. All orthodontists must be licensed to practice, but at this time only 1 in 3 orthodontists have continued on to complete Board Certification. The American Board of Orthodontics (ABO) certification process signifies a unique achievementa significant step beyond the two to three years of advanced education required for a dentist to become a specialist in orthodontics. The process requires the orthodontist to demonstrate actual accomplishments in patient care with detailed case reports on the treatment provided for a broad range of patient problems. Board certification is a voluntary achievement that all orthodontists do not choose to pursue. In order to become board certified by the ABO, an individual orthodontist is thoroughly interviewed by a highly respected panel of examiners to demonstrate their orthodontic knowledge, clinical skills and judgment.

One. The American Board of Orthodontics (ABO) is the only certifying board in the specialty that is recognized by the American Dental Association. The ABO was founded in 1929 and is the oldest specialty board in dentistry. The boards purpose is to elevate the quality of orthodontic care for the public by promoting excellence through certification, education and professional collaboration.

Successful completion of the examination process demonstrates the orthodontists highest commitment to excellence in orthodontics to both the orthodontic profession and the general public. It represents a commitment by a licensed specialist that he/she has the necessary knowledge base and skills to treat patients to the highest of standards. It exemplifies a practitioners commitment to continue to keep abreast of the latest advances in patient care, and to continue to deliver these latest advances to patients. Many orthodontists see it as a demonstration of their dedication to the specialty and the highest level of personal achievement.

Since the establishment of the ABO in 1929, the certification process requirements have continued to adjust to the demands of the specialty. Today, the process involves a thorough Written Examination (240 questions) covering all areas of information which an orthodontist should be knowledgeable. Successful completion of this board exam allows the orthodontist to proceed to the Clinical Examination where they present detailed case reports from their practice/residency, demonstrating a history of excellence in patient care. These cases are evaluated by a panel of examiners and later discussed during an oral examination where the applicant is tested on a wide variety of academic and clinical topics. After successful completion of these examinations, the orthodontist has officially achieved Board Certification, for a time-limited period. The orthodontist must go through Certification Renewal every 10 years to maintain their certification status by demonstrating this continued level of patient care.

Our daughter needed braces and Dr. Vaught and his staff were so wonderful! In the middle of her treatment she needed to relocate to another state for a year, Dr. Vaught worked with our family and is finishing up the treatment now that she has returned. I can not recommend them enough!!

I walked in today to see if I could get an estimated braces removal date for my son and was greeted by receptionist Leina with an amazing energy. After my conversation and explaining to Leina my frustration with not receiving any information for the last two weeks about the removal expected date for my sons braces, receptionist (Dona) was very unprofessional and inpatient with me. Leina was doing everything in her power to assist me in getting the braces removal date for my son but Dona decided that she needed to rudely high jack the conversation and tell me there is nothing they can do to get a date. I gave you two stars for having a great person (Leina) on your team but Dona's terrible attitude, little manners, eye rolling, and loud inflection in her voice while being inpatient stole three stars from this post. If you could, please teach Dona to value others, respect them, and she'll have better days. Please give Leina a raise and thank her for tolerating Dona.

I found this office to be very professional. The doctor informed us well, and went over treatment plans for my daughter. I found them to be the best in the area, it's about a 40 minute drive from where we live but it was worth it to have quality care. They were able to put braces on the same day as the consult. Highly recommend.

Horrible experience, they don't explain what they're doing or when they're doing it. Never give you any help to understand what's going on. They also lied to me telling me that they do permanent retainers but 2 years later they won't. I paid 6,000 just for them to lie and never help. I do not recommend please go somewhere else if you want good and affordable teeth.

I took my 13 year old daughter to Vaught Ortho for a consultation. I was incredibly impressed with Dr. Kate's professionalism & sincerity! She could have told me my daughter needed braces but she told me to wait until she is older. She was honest and was not trying to push something on us that was unnecessary. I truly appreciated her honesty and will recommend Vaught Orthodontics to everyone I know!

My son got his braces this morning! He was a little nervous but after starting the process he calmed down. It was a lot faster then I anticipated. The staff is always extremely friendly starting with the receptionist. They have great customer service!

Our son has been under evaluation with this office for about two years. Anytime we have been there the customer service has been stellar from front to back office. Dr. Vaught and daughter, Dr. Vaught always provide optimal care and supervision. We have never left with any questions. Always very thorough. I am a huge fan of their belief of not extracting teeth until necessary to prevent shifting while primary teeth are still present. Thank you so much for everything. We will miss this office as we venture on to MD.

Edit: After hearing of our issues making an appointment, I got a call from Dr Vaught himself. He was profusely apologetic about my struggle to make an appointment. He ensured that this is not a normal occurrence and that he would personally make sure I received a call back. True to his word I got a call less than 5 minutes later! We look forward to our appointment in a few weeks. Thank you Dr Vaught! I have attempted to make a new patient appointment 4 times. I placed 4 calls, left a message with my information and was promised a call back from the new patient coordinator. It has been over a week and no one has attempted to call me back. Customer service is clearly not their forte. I'm done making calls to the Richmond hill office, I will be finding somewhere else to go. If they're this dismissive and lackadaisical about making a simple return call; I cannot imagine allowing them to care for my child.

Chantel is super amazing. I have never met anyone who has gone over and beyond their job description the way she has. I walked into the office with a huge problem with my teenage daughter and she has done everything she can and then some to assist me. She's even gone as far as to text/call to check on my daughter. My daughter even says "Chantel needs a raise!" Vaught Ortho is the best around because of the great ppl they have working there. Thanks so much!
