Laura Vaughn, DDS is a native of Buffalo, NY. After receiving her undergraduate degree from the University of Rochester, Dr. Vaughn went on to receive her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Maryland, Baltimore College of Dental Surgery and graduated Magna Cum Laude. During her time at BCDS, she was active in many extracurriculars and was recognized for several awards, including the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society.
After graduation, Dr. Vaughn completed a one-year General Practice Residency at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago, IL. She practiced general dentistry in multiple settings in Chicago over the next few years before realizing that children make the BEST patients! She then applied, matched and completed an additional two years of training at the Pediatric Dental Residency at Childrens Hospital Colorado.
In addition to her Doctorate in Dental Surgery, Dr. Vaughn is proud to be a Board Certified Pediatric Dentist. Being Board Certified means that Dr. Vaughn has voluntarily completed additional training and examinations in order to advance her knowledge and skills in caring for pediatric patients. She is also a member of the American Dental Association (ADA), the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD), the American Association of Women Dentists (AAWD), and our local Heartland Dental Study Club (HDSC). Staying current in her field is one of the ways that highlights Dr. Vaughns commitment to her patients and her passion for providing each child with the best care possible.
Dr. Vaughn is married to her college sweetheart Matt, and is Mom to Nolan and Callie. They moved to Kansas in 2013 and have felt at home ever since! She is an active member in her community and enjoys giving back through various organizations, including the Topeka Symphony and Junior League. In 2018 she was named one of Topekas Top 20 under 40 honorees.
When shes not at the office, Dr. Vaughn enjoys reading, telling jokes, and training for fitness events. She loves to travel with her family, and hopes to reach all 50 states very soon! Dr. Vaughn will happily tell you stories about every place she's lived, but most importantly she likes to discuss the impact her own pediatric dentists had on her smile, and has spent her career striving to do the same for others.
They are always very kind and gentle with dealing with my son, who screams and fights through cleanings and checks. They never get impatient and are always trying to calm him down in fun ways (with stickers, a movie, toys, even blowing a glove into a balloon). Dr. Vaughn is a great pediatric dentist and I will always take my child to her/office for cleanings.
Dr. Vaughn's entire staff is amazing. I was able to get all of my kids' mounting dental issues taken care of in just a few visits, with minimal discomfort for the kids, which helped with everyone's anxiety. The staff is extremely friendly and awesome with the children, taking time to answer questions to make them feel at ease...
Dr. Vaughn and staff always go above and beyond to take care of their patients and their families. In light of the Covid-19 pandemic they uphold strict safety guidelines that protect all patients and themselves. I appreciated that in this extra level of caution there was also an extra layer of kindness and support. They took great care of my 8 year old!
I love Dr Vaughn she is so understanding and so patient with my kids. She and her entire staff from billing to front desk to the hygienists in back. My kids are so comfortable with all of them. I would fully recommend Dr Vaughn to everyone.
