Dr. Vargas is an exceptionally accomplished professional, but he also makes time to enjoy life beyond the office. Hes a kayaker, a swimmer, an avid reader and a classic movie buff with, Back to the Future, The Godfather, and Rocky topping his list of great films. From watching Formula One racing to collecting classic Donald Duck memorabilia to following his beloved Washington Football Team and the Nationals, he seeks to make the most out of all life has to offer.
As a highly regarded dental professional, Dr. Vargas compelling research on dental implant alloys received an award from the prestigious American Academy of Implant Dentistry. In addition to receiving this award, his work was published in the top scientific journal on the subject, The International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Implants. He has also served as a Clinical Instructor at the University of Maryland Dental School.
After receiving his dental degree from Xavier University in Bogot, Colombia in 1984, he enrolled in two post-graduate programs at the prestigious State University of New York at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. He completed his Certificate in Prosthodontics in 1990 and his Master of Oral Sciences in 1991. Following his post-graduate work, Dr. Vargas began to serve patients throughout the Bowie area starting in 1991.
Dr. Rachel Smith was born and raised in Florida. She earned her degree from the University of Florida College of Dentistry and then completed a general practice residency at Cambridge Health Alliance and the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. She cares deeply about her patients and is focused on improving their oral health and quality of life. In her free time, Dr. Smith enjoys quality time with her husband and three children, and loves traveling, hiking, jigsaw puzzles and yoga!

I honestly can thank them enough I had been terrified of the dentist for years before I finally was able to go. When I finally went I read the reviews of so many places and honestly none were as recommended as Vargas! I went in with low expectations since my previous experiences were quite painful and just awful in general, however they were extremely friendly and welcoming when I got there. Something that really stood out to me was the way they never made me feel bad for being scared and having some things that needed work, they were honest about everything and overall made my anxiety calm so so much I am forever grateful and will be a repeat patient for sure

I chipped my front tooth and was about to go out of town on business travel. Needless say, this was not the professional look that I wanted and I had no idea of what to do . My husband contacted Dr. Vargas and I was seen the next day. Dr Vargas took care of everything and I was able to travel with a brand new smile and no stress.
